In Sweden there will soon be broadcasts with the new DVB-T2 protocol.
It is not entirely clear to me if i need a new tuner card or if the old DVB-T tuner works.
And question2, does GB/N-PVR support it?
I would assume that the answers are: yes, I need a DVB-T2 tuner, and yes GB/N-PVR suports it becuese the tuners presents data in a standard way regardless of protocol. Can I get this confirmed?
The broadcasts will also use MPEG4, but that is no problem as long as I have a decoder that can handle it. Yes?
I would appreciate a feature that when recording a program, it will in TV-guide, or a channel viewer, show you which other channels that are in the same mux. That way it'll be easier to know which channels are available for recording / viewing.
I'm talking about like a small green light on valid channels, and red on the rest f.ex.
I currently use multidec to decode some of the channels i watch.
I see in the capture source setup that there is an option to use CAM/CI instead of multidec..... so i took the plunge and ordered a Hauppauge WinTV-CI.
As i currently have a X-Cam and smartcard - i figured i could just change the setting on the capture source (my sat cards are Hauppauge HVR4000 and Nova-S-Plus) to be CAM/CI and bingo it would be off and racing.
Sorry to say it wasnt that easy - it just sat on a black screen doing nothing.
I have windows xp pro x86 sp3 - and the device manager says the wintv-ci is present and working successfully.... even the gbpvr log says its found the wintv-ci - but that seems to be where things get murky.
Any tips would be appreciated please - i was hoping the wintv-ci would give me a more reliable experience - as the multidec approach (for me anyways) can sometimes result in nothing decoding - its kinda hit and miss.
Is the schedules direct support going to be a part of NPVR / G3PVR? I live in America and that always seemed the most reliable way to get the EPG data.
I get a situation around 1-2 times per week where the recording service will become unresponsive. It happened again tonight, causing me to miss my favorite show for the second time in three weeks. I know this is beta software, but this problem is very quickly getting on my bad side. I've posted the logs in previous posts and they don't indicate anything out of the ordinary. They just stop at some point. The recording service is still running but it's hung. The web interface is unreachable, and I can start npvr by the start menu shortcut, but the taskbar icon is unresponsive. The nrecord.log just stops after the last "Graph stopping..." message from 2pm today. I'd post my logs, but they don't say anything, they just stop. I've got a HDHR and I've gone through all the settings from the posts that I can find. That has corrected most other problems but hasn't touched this one.
Is there any way I can help troubleshoot this? Or is there more verbose logging that can be turned on to find out where it's stopping or hanging? Anything at all I can do? I'm getting desperate.
Hi, I run GBPVR merrily on an XP/32bit machine .... and with great difficulties on a seperate HP Vista 64 with 12GB RAM, Intel i7 etc. I can generally get it to run for a week or two but after that time things always degrade:
1. TV schedules don't always happen automatically
2. GBPVR tray does not respond (just hangs or runs VERY slowly which is odd for a fast machine)
3. PVR does not respond..... (left mouse does nothing)
I regularly reboot, reinstall, reregister filters and re-run mc2xml as Administrator (NOTHING works if not Administrator), and regularly rescan cahnnels (seems to help) .... so my question is... is there an idiots guide to install for Vista 64?
BTW it's an HP with a HVR-1800 (same as I have in my XP machine)
Could this be a driver problem? should I install Hauppauge drivers first from the web? (the HVR was bundled so I have no disks).
I'm not really sure how best to describe this, but I am having a problem with the positioning of the thumbnails when in the thumbnail view. Everything seems fine when first going into a directory with many movies with thumbnails, but once I exit one of the subfolders, it seems to place that folder's thumbnail at the top left corner no matter where it was originally. This alone would not really seem like a problem, but it looks like the program is remembering where this thumbnail originally was positioned, and thinks it is still in the original position. This causes the selection to sometimes stop on the down motion before actually getting to the bottom thumbnail, or on the up motion, to continue up and then over to the bottom left.
OK, now this is strange. I have noticed that if the PVR is in standby and show is scheduled to record, the PC starts to record the show without any outward signs that it woke up. I found it tonight 10 minutes into an HD recording and the LAN lights, HDD lights and case fans were all off. The PC was silent. I woke it up with LAN traffic, the fans all spooled up, and the show was there and had been recording as scheduled. Is it recording to RAM or do you think it is writing to the HDD, but without any lights or fans? I did have a show not record last week due to a "recording service not running" problem. Do you think it would have eventally woken up? I have not been able to get into it to check the logs yet. It was recording my wifes favorite show.... The one it lost last week was her other favorite show.
Has anyone seen this before? Do you think this is a problem? Or has this always been what has happened and somehow I missed it?:confused:
