Any chance of getting the epg implemented with NPVR?

  Recommend me a NAS
Posted by: sub - 2010-09-19, 05:43 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (26)

My home NAS, used for a repository of kept recordings, ripped DVDs, downloads etc, seems to have toasted itself. It was a QNAP TS-109. It performed well for several years, but started getting flakey a few weeks ago, and finally today shows no sign of life. Luckily I backed up everything when the problems started happening.

So... I now need to get a new NAS. Has anyone bought a cheap one recently that they were happy with and could recommend? I'm not going to be using it for critical stuff, so I dont really need to have multi-drives and raid etc. I'd only need 1TB or so of disk, which should help keep the cost down.

  Video Aspect Ratio Problem
Posted by: Northpole - 2010-09-19, 04:41 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (41)

I upgrade to v 1.5.31 and started having a aspect ratio problem when viewing .mpg, .ts and .m2ts videos. I'm probably one of the few people still using VMR7 but before the upgrade everything worked fine. Now, everytime I watch a video, I have to use F7 to cycle through the aspect ratios back to auto to get the screen correct.

I tried using cyberlinks and arcsoft decoder but they return the same results.

Is there a setting in the config file to force it to act like it did in v 1.5.28

Thanks.

  Signal Meter in INFO OSD

With the click of a button you could tell if your video issues are from lack of signal. This could be an important troubleshooting tool.

  What name do you prefer...
Posted by: sub - 2010-09-18, 05:40 PM - Forum: NextPVR Announcements - Replies (332)

I think we're getting close to being able to remove that "Beta" status from NPVR, and at the same time I want to finalise the name the project will use going forward.

The options are nextpvr or g3pvr. What is your preference for the official name? I own both the nextpvr.com and g3pvr.com domain names.

"nextpvr" was originally a working name for the next pvr application I was creating, but its hard to change a name once you start using it.

"g3pvr" was a suggestion by bgowland a few months back which I really liked, since its similar to gbpvr, but also implies 3rd generation etc.

PC Client - Throws an SQL exception if the share name can't be found
Posted by: HarryH3 - 2010-09-18, 04:29 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Sub, while setting up a PC Client on a Win 7 system, connecting to an XP Home server, I discovered that a misspelled share name causes NPVR to throw an SQL exception on startup. If you click "Continue" then the server and share settings show as blank. I ended up fixing the name by editing config.xml, but less technical users might not know to do that. Just wanted to let you know in case some code to capture and handle the error could reduce future install questions. Smile

Some shows only get partial recordings
Posted by: skreien - 2010-09-18, 03:33 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I noticed that on some programs I'm only getting partial recordings. Here's the log file entries for one from last night:

Everything in the logs looks good to me. Problem is that the recording is only the first 18 minutes of the show instead of over 60. This has happened a few times now. Seems to be random so far.

  Warning Microsoft Silverlight
Posted by: hansol123 - 2010-09-18, 08:50 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I run NPVR on Windows 7 64 bit home edition.

This week NPVR failed to record 2 programmes and I discovered later that live tv was not working (received message that tuner was not active).

I then tried Media Center and received a similar message.

I checked the Programs and Features option in control panel , sorted by date and noted that Microsoft Silkverlight had either been installed or updated this week either as part of a MS update or by my wife when trying to access a website using IE

As I always use Firefox I can claim to be innocent !!.

Removing Silverlight and rebooting the machine appears to have resolved the problem.

  Duplicate Simultaneous Recordings - NEWA
Posted by: XJW - 2010-09-18, 08:40 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (55)

My duplicate recordings are back. They dissappeared after loading 1.3.51 but then returned slowly.

They accumulate over time. Initially there will be only one recording. But over several days the system will start to schedule more and more simultaneous recordings of the same show.

I am wondering if they are triggered by occassionally having no data for some channels in the epg. Just speculating.

Note my duplicates are only occuring for NEWA recordings. I mainly use title search.

Input on debug would be appreciated.

Recording Directory has changed all by itself.
Posted by: Granddad - 2010-09-18, 08:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have had several problems with config.exe over the last few days, mainly it would refuse to open, although PVRX2 was working fine. Then yesterday I found that the Recording directory had changed to "C:\Temp", which was the Live recordings directory, all recordings were being placed in separate directory and no matter what I do I can not change it back again.

I have even Un-installed GBPVR, deleted the program directory and the entries in the Virtual Store. On re-installing the recording directory was set to "D:\recordings" and checked in config.xml, but this is still ignored. When I tried to record every recording, from an analogue or a digital source, goes to "c:\Temp" in separate directories.

What next - Format the disk and reinstall the operating system!!!!
