  IBTV recording, what hardware requirements
Posted by: Rudik - 2010-08-28, 10:42 AM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

I have been watching TV from the internet (video catchup) via my broadband connection for some time and would like to record a few shows now. I have tried various recorders and have now come across GBpvr which looks like a good program, but I can't get it to work. Do I need a special capture device, card etc for that? The other reording programs which I used did not need this. Debut did not reord sound but otherwise it was OK. Many thanks for responding! Sorry to be so technically poor, but I tried for almost a day now to read and configure without sucess.

Right click context menu - how to get it back?
Posted by: McBainUK - 2010-08-28, 06:32 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

While updating the new N-PVR wiki I turned the Context Menu off.

Apart from editing <ContextMenuOnRightMouseButton>true</ContextMenuOnRightMouseButton> how does one get it back?

  bulk remapping of xmltv path
Posted by: soccerdad - 2010-08-27, 10:30 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I had to move my xmltv file location. I can't find a way to remap the channels to this new path. I only can do them one at a time which is a real pain with almost 100 channels.

BTW, if you select a group of channels in the config and right click you get an option to merge them. What is this for?

Reinstalled windows, what have I forgotten to do??
Posted by: BigMoose - 2010-08-27, 08:15 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I have started from scratched and installed windows (win7 pro x64) on a new disk and have installed GBPVR and nPVR but neither play live TV. The offending line in the log seems to be "failed to locate filter: BDA MPEG2 Transport Information Filter". Any idea what I've forgotten to install first? I'm sure I've done everything - I've gone through the reinstall procedure several times before and don't remember hitting this problem. Sure it's something stupid I've forgotten to do. GBPVR log attached in case it's not that line at all.... Any ideas??

  Audio bit rate.
Posted by: brianj - 2010-08-27, 02:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Any attempt to set an audio bit rate below 192 causes it to go over 400. I'm using a PVR150 and GBPVR 1-4-7.

Any ideas please?

Brian

What to do? Part-time channels and EPG
Posted by: martint123 - 2010-08-27, 02:09 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Not a support question, so down here in discussion.

I have (double) DVB-T, (double) DVB-S and analogue from satellite STB.

(1) The single analogue channel for STB, has all channels available 24 hours
(2) DVB-S has most of the FTA channels available 24 hours.
(3) DVB-T has most of the FTA channels available most of the time.
But, 2 and 3 above may not have the same set of FTA channels available

(1) Is the only source with subscription channels available.
(2) is missing some channels that are FTA on 3 and FTA on (3)
(3) has channels that are limited in time (e.g 0700-1900), where on (1) they are 24hour

e.g. there could be a channel that is 24 hours on (1), not available on (2) and restricted hours on (3)

What would you do with the EPG?
(a) have three different channel names for the three sources (makes EPG big and untidy and auto scheduling not possible??)
(b) merge them and get the priority to record 1 then 2 then 3 (ties up subscription channel tuner and no guarantee of getting a recording anyway.
© something else?

I've been pondering this for some time and in the past just trusted to luck.

  Several Heavy Problems - DVB-s
Posted by: TommySZB - 2010-08-27, 09:27 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Hello,
i am new to this forum but i am a an old GB user (for approximately 3 years).

By installing the new DVB-s system, i changed to nPVR (an installed Windows 7, for testing purposes XP is still available).

Problems with nPVR:

1. Scanning Channels on Tuners fail:
TV Card: Pinnacle PCTV Dual Sat Driver 4.2.1.27292 from 19th of october 2009 (newest driver)

when scanning 1st Tuner on Astra 19.2° nPVR crashed at 12207/V/27500/0 (completely new database)
See LogsScan with included CrashDump

this crash can be reproduced, every time nPVR crashes at the same transponder, maybe its an overflow of any variable
Even WinXp hangs when scanning channels in this Hardware Setup, but XP writes the channels to the database so i could use the XP-created db in Win7

2. Pending Recordings are not shown in TVGuide, no mark there as it was in GB PVR,
this only seems to happen after the recording plugin has crashed

3. When PC is waked up by nPVR (STD) Pre-Padding is ignored (PC wakes appx 2min before normal Start)
Test: Broadcast starting at 14.06; Pre-Padding 6min => Recording should start at 14.00
14.00 HTPC is still sleeping
14.02 HTPC is still sleeping
14.04 HTPC is still sleeping
14.05 HTPC ist starting up
14.05 30s Capture startet

If the HTPC is already working, the recording starts correctly with fitting padding.

4. i do not see the possibility of manual recordings anymore, is it possible to reinclude the feature?

5. Recording Service crashed multiple times, especially after wakeup (this night when trying to record StarTrek), no Logs at the moment because the Failure is not so easy to recreate
=> this night, the plugin worked very well, just problem 3 lead to an unusable recording because the begin of the broadcast is missing

Best Regards an many Thanks

Sharing epg between gbpvr and npvr
Posted by: JimmyA - 2010-08-27, 01:55 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (42)

Hi,

I am currently running both GBPVP and NPVR. I have a scheduled .bat file to update my epg .xml file and gbpvr.db3 database:

"C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\EPG" mc2xml -c us -g 75218 -t
"C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\pvrx2.exe" "-OnlyUpdateEPG"

What do I need to do to keep npvr in sync?

Thanks

  NPVR opens but then nothing
Posted by: build - 2010-08-27, 12:29 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (24)

G'day All,
WARNING NEWBIE NUT RESIDES HERE!

I followed the "Getting Started" thread (thx johnson).
Applied all the OS updates.
Installed NPVR.
Copied hcw_mcmpeg2mux.ax and registered it.
Applied the recommended patches.

Started NPVR
Followed the instructions on the settings dialog.
Then nothing ... well I reckon that blue screen was sneering at my dumbness but I shouldn't tell you that or you'll think I'm nuts ... well OK I am ;-)

Searched forum but couldn't find the thread that tells me what I'm doing wrong and that search box was sneering at me too 8-|

Card: DVB-T Winfast DTV1000S BDA DVBT Tuner.
Present: Yes, Enabled: Yes, Channels:0.
(zipped logs attached)

Could some kind soul point me in the right direction?

Thanks in anticipation,
build
