New user new install and a few "issues"
Posted by: Jimdish255 - 2010-08-29, 09:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (190)

I decided to give this a try after my TotalMedia crashed prematurely during a recording session with my TVWonder 750U USB card. Gateway laptop Windows 7 Home Premium.

So far I have the program installed and a successful channel scan. TV picture is fine but I have no volume. Is there a volume control I don't see in my interface? Or do I need a specific set of codecs as I haven't loaded this laptop up with much yet?

Secondly, there is like no program info in my guide. I didn't install XMLTV because I'm not clear on how to set it up with the program. That's a must for recording.

Finally the picture is nice but I'm also not sure what keystroke to use to change channels without going back to the menu. So no channel or volume control on-screen. What am I missing here?

Thanks for any tips you might have.

  Postprocessing and the recordings database
Posted by: shsw - 2010-08-29, 04:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi

I am using the postprocessing.bat file to postprocess my GBPVR recordings. [They are recorded in dvr-ms format, and then I convert them to mpg, run comskip and videoredo]. Is there any way to inform the GBPVR database about the new file, so that, for example - it only keeps the number of episodes that I've asked for of that particular programme?

Many thanks

  Free XMLTV?
Posted by: carz181 - 2010-08-29, 04:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hello, i am new to GB PVR, I have installed it and am attempting to set it up, however i need a xmltv plug in? I read an earlier post saying that Zap2it is no longer working. What are you using, and if it is free, how do I set it up. Sorry for my ignorance...

  NPVR and MVP
Posted by: OscarL - 2010-08-29, 02:07 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hello,
I fully understand that you don't support the MVP longer. However I have a question. I have all my old recordings (GBPVR) and new recordings (NPVR) in the .ts format. I noticed that I was able to view the recordings through the MVP only by renaming the file to .mpg. Is there a possibility to get the MVP to understand that without renaming the file?

recording service hung trying to stop a graph
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2010-08-29, 06:48 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

This morning I found my 2:00am recording still showing as "Recording", and no other recordings had occurred since then. There apparently was a problem with the graph, as it created a zero-length file. However NRecord got itself stuck trying to kill the graph, and never recoverd. Here is the relevant bit of log, but the full log is attached.

Code:

Stopping device. 2010-08-28 03:00:00.360 [DEBUG][6] Graph stopping...
The "Graph stopping..." message is it... no "Graph stopped", no "Removing filter" messages. After this point in the log the only other thing it did was the EPG update, but did not "Reload the Recording Schedule". A half-dozen recordings where missed until I restarted the recording service a little before 10:00am.

I removed detail about a 30 minute recording that started at 2:00am as well, and ended normally at 2:30am just to keep the excerpt concise. It's in the attached full log of course.

Would it possible to add more logging detail to determine exactly why it couldn't stop the graph, and/or add some code to get it to recover from this condition instead of going into a coma?

By the way, a quick aside, it is a little confusing to have the stream handle reported in hex when it starts, but decimal when it ends (but yes, I do know that 0x59=89).

  Music playlist
Posted by: McBainUK - 2010-08-28, 02:57 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Can sub or anyone offer more details about what you can do with it/ I couldn't figure out how to add a track or album folder to the list of what's already playing

Some things I've noticed:
If you start laying an album folder, open the playlist popup and then press stop, the music but the playlist contents are not changed until you close the popup and reopen. Bug?

Selecting Playlist from the menu when nothing is playing currently does nothing - it would be nice to show an empty playlist or maybe a message box saying "Playlist empty" or something.

My Firewire port on my MiniDV is fried
Posted by: jman0918 - 2010-08-28, 02:21 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (7)

I can't seem to use the firewire port on my wife's Sony MiniDV, so I'm stuck using the RCA video or splurging $10 for the cable with S-Video.

I want to make 16:9 DVD's of my video footage. GB-PVR automatically records the video in 4:3, even though I have the camcorder set on 16:9 video aspect. I know that it has to do with the video signal.

I found a utility called DVDPatcher that lets me assign values to the file headers in an MPEG2, and change the aspect of the recorded videos to 16:9. I think there is a competing utility on Sourceforge.

I'd like to see an option in Conversion to apply these header settings automatically when recordings are finished. Since I would likely be using the same recording quality settings for all MiniDV captures, there should be an option to assign a profile for the bitrate and screen size.

black screen on early termination of viewing 1.5.28
Posted by: chalkster99 - 2010-08-28, 12:53 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Nextpvr locks up with a black screen, requiring manual kill of the task, where viewing a channel for less than (approx) a minute, then backing out to the guide again. Disk activity pattern would indicate the recording process is still going. Anything 2 mins or longer and its OK.. anyone else seen this? A strong discouragement to channel surf.

  Record to MPEG2
Posted by: build - 2010-08-28, 11:29 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

G'day All,
Is it possible to record to MPEG2?

I noticed there is an MPEG2 decoder listed in >Settings >Decoders but I can't figure out how to use it.

Thanks in anticipation,
build
