Limited information in Freeview NZ EPG
Posted by: Trevor_de_S - 2010-08-14, 06:24 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I have just set up GBPVR on my laptop (DELL XP PRO SP3 machine) and Desktop (INTEL I3 w 4GB running Win 7 pro 64). With not too much trouble I managed to get it running on both machines so that live TV, recording and replay of recordings is working fine, but on both boxes the EPG only covers the next hour to about three hours at most and not all channel's information is included e,g at the moment no listings for TV3 are included. I am wondering whether there is a directory permissions problem.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Trevor

  NPVR Config
Posted by: EJCastellanos - 2010-08-14, 01:54 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (18)

How is this done? The install created 5 executables, NextPVR, NPVRServiceControl, NRecord, NTray, and uninstall.

I see no means to configure NPVR. What am I missing?

dvd playback - navigation, closed captions
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2010-08-13, 11:31 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Is there a secret path to success for DVD playback in NPVR?

I have tried two decoders so far with different disappointing results:

Microsoft DVD-DTV Decoder (Windows 7) - menu navigation works (that is, I can see and move the selection highlight), but it plays all movies with Closed Captions enabled (not subtitiles); NPVR doesn't seem to be able to control Closed Captions

ATI MPEG-2 Decoder (from the AVIVO download) - menu navigation doesn't work, but at least it doesn't show closed captions

Guessing my way through the DVD menu is better than having to see closed captions for the whole movie. I'd rather use the Microsoft decoder though for TV, it seems a little better than the ATI decoder.

Does anyone know how to disable closed captions when using the Microsoft decoder?

  Channel mapping
Posted by: donschjr - 2010-08-13, 08:19 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I decided to give Npvr a try since I was having some problems with GBpvr abd I've run into a problem mapping clear qam channels. There is no screen to see a preview to figure out what a channel is and when I tried to map a channel to a random number in the epg I got an error.
"Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.

The given key was not present in the dictionary."

  Log in password requests?
Posted by: Bobbing - 2010-08-13, 08:06 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (1)

I have set GBPVR config to ask for a password for remote admin. I have logged in from other computers in my network and I never get a password prompt. The only time I get asked for a password is when I choose the config menu in EWA. Is it only when you connect to EWA from outside your network does it ask for a password?

  KeyMappings.xml
Posted by: smajor - 2010-08-13, 04:18 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (17)

Is the KeyMappings.xml fairly modifiable at this point? I've had a MCE/Keyboard/Mouse combo remote just kicking around for ages now, and I wanted to see if I could get it working. What's "special" about this remote is that it works with MCE, but it's acting as a keyboard and, from what I read, is sending the keyboard shortcuts that MCE is using and isn't acting as a traditional MCE remote. Windows sees it as a generic HID compliant mouse/keyboard.

I'd like to create a custom KeyMappings file for NPVR for use with one of these devices and maybe stick it up in the wiki for others. I can't seem to get {ALT} or {SHIFT} to work, but maybe those aren't implemented or I'm using the wrong tags.

FWIW, I started a topic in the wish-list for an interface in NPVR to configure remote/keyboard/mouse commands.

  NPPVR changelist?
Posted by: Barsk - 2010-08-13, 03:53 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I have been using GB-PVR to great success for such a long time now that I rarely get into the forums these days, but I did and found out that a new version was about to be ready. Great news indeed!

But I cannot fins a list of what is new and noteworthy anywhere. I guess Sub has deleted that info as it might have been obsolete during the beta releases. But I am still interested in the list to see if I should upgrade now, or wait for a stable release.

  mc2xml site is down

The account is suspended according to the notice I get when trying to visit the site.

Since NPVR doesn't explicitly support SchedulesDirect yet, what other options are there?

  NPVR: Remote Control Keymappings
Posted by: smajor - 2010-08-13, 12:39 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

Being here for many years now, one re-occurring theme has always been the mapping of remote controls.

In NPVRs roomy new Settings area, would it be possible to add a section for mapping remote control keys? Both Hauppauge Remotes (Remote.ini) and MCE remotes could be supported since there is a way to map MCE remote keys in the Windows Registry (I use this and it's spiffy). A simple "Restore Defaults" could do just that.

You might even consider leaving this a bit open so those of us with slightly different/odd-ball remotes could add our own settings in a community based fashion.

I think this is the one area that's "rough around the edges" for new users.

nPVR - "mini guide" overlay while watching Live TV
Posted by: sgilani - 2010-08-13, 07:45 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (35)

I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but is the "mini-guide" that overlays on top of live TV in GBPVR on the to-do list for nPVR?

if not.. here's my official "wish" for it. Smile
