No video for HDPVR, and Device Setup won't remember HD-PVR IR blaster
Posted by: jeffdwskn - 2010-07-25, 03:10 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (28)

I just bought an Hauppauge HD-PVR to supplement/replace my PVR500, and installed it with NPVR (i.e., I never used the HD-PVR with GBPVR). I can't seem to get it to show me video for live TV. I only get audio.
Following the advice from other threads, I've tried all of the video decoders (for MPEG2 Video and H.264 Video) that are on my system, and each of the Video Renderers, with no success. I got audio only after manually changing the Audio decoders. I have the Device Setup set to Component Video (the correct input).

I have the HDPVR and WinTV drivers and applications installed. ArcSoft's player can capture with both video and audio from the HDPVR, and if I save a .ts file from a NPVR livetv session, I can open it in ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre and I see the captured video. So it is not a capture problem, but a playback problem. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, applications, and NPVR, and also tried not uninstalling different sets of the Hauppauge software in case there was a conflict. I'm at a loss of what else to try. I'm running Windows XP. Is there a place other than the Hauppauge CDs that I should be installing a decoder from? It seems to have provided an MPEG2 Video decoder "Intervideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge" that doesn't seem to work, and doesn't provide an H.264 decoder, but I have a DivX H.264 Decoder on the system (that also doesn't seem to work).

As a separate issue, I cannot get the HDPVR IR blaster to work in NPVR. When I select it from the list in Device Setup as my Changer, that setting does not save upon hitting okay. It reverts back to whatever I had set previously. It only seems to save the Changer setting if I select Executable and choose a different Executable. (Is there an Executable for the HDPVR IR blaster?). I have run BlastCfg and it functions correctly.

My apologies for the long and rambling post -- I've been working at this for days with no success other than getting audio to work. If the blaster would work, then at least I could schedule recordings in the meantime.

I've attached my NPVR logs.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

-Jeff

P.S. sub, I've been a huge fan of GBPVR for years, and I love everything about NPVR so far aside from these troubles. -- Thanks!!

  Recorded movies hard to find..
Posted by: psycik - 2010-07-24, 11:19 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

When recording movies they're just listed in the recordings plugin under their name.

I'm trying to figure out some ways that they could be grouped together.

I guess the easiest way if for a genre view in recordings.

But ideally I'd like to rename them to their title is Movie, and their subtitle is the movie name. Mostly as I intend to move them to my home server and/or convert/strip out the ads.

Suggestions? I guess I could look for "movie genre" and do the subtitle thing myself in the xmltv file

  Does N-PVR support ISO files?

I did not see anything in the settings about ISO files or daemon-tools.

Thanks,

David

Strange database problem -- pvrx2 not seeing updates, EWA and Config.exe are.
Posted by: 86atc250r - 2010-07-24, 03:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm probably missing something very simple here, but here's my scenario.

I recently moved to win7 from XP. I copied my GBPVR folder to the new win7 installation, in the usual place.

I installed GBPVR over top of the copied files. After a little config, all seemed well.

Since then, I've recorded a couple programs - they don't show up in the recordings section, however, they have been saved. I have also added a tuner, and added a channel to my lineup -- it does not show up in pvrx2 either. EPG also appears to not be updating.

Now the strange part --- the missing recording and the missing channel show up in EWA. EPG is good in EWA. When I check config.exe, my tuner and channel show up there exactly as expected. It's almost as if pvrx2 is reading a different database than config.exe or EWA.

Further testing - I broke out process monitor to see what database file both config.exe and pvrx2.exe are using - both are using the gbpvr.db3 database on the correct drive and in the correct folder. I also ran a admin utility for SQLite so I could manually inspect the database contents - it does not appear to have the channel or the tuner I have configured.

So --- where the heck are EWA and config.exe getting their (correct) data? Why isn't PVRX2.exe seeing the correct data? Why don't my channel and tuner show up in gbpvr.db3?

Surely I'm missing something stupid here...

  Support for changing tuners?
Posted by: martint123 - 2010-07-24, 02:11 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Just a question about setup.

With gbpvr I can go into source setup and change the hardware tuner with just a couple of clicks - keeping the channels and tuning data.
I've used this on occasion to both swap from a dead PVR150 to a plug-in USB tuner (and back) and also to shift the software to a backup machine with slightly different tuners. A couple of clicks and all channels and recordings stay fine.

With npvr it would appear that the tuner setup stays with the tuner name (although I don't have the opportunity to try it out as yet - my USB PVR is out on loan).

  Recordings end when closing program
Posted by: acabose - 2010-07-24, 08:14 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

When i close the program all recordings stop then when i open NPVR again they resume. Is this behavior intended?
The tray icon is always present and that option about Background Recording Services seems to do nothing.

When do a channel scan wth my SkyStar2 (here in germany) it doesen't find any channel.
Do I have to modify something in the settings window of the recording source?
What does the LOF1, LOF2 and LOF Switch setting mean?
Are the standard values of these correct for my region?

MediaMVPs and PVR500s -- need a good home
Posted by: BobAtTorrey - 2010-07-23, 10:44 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

I hope this won't be frowned upon, but I've upgraded my GBPVR 'rig' so I'm selling some equipment and thought the PVR500s and the MediaMVPs might be attractive to a few GBPVR users.

There are two PVR500s:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:MESELX:IT

And three MediaMVPs:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:MESELX:IT
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:MESELX:IT
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:MESELX:IT

(The differences in the MediaMVP listings is that one is missing the stand, and two have a cloned CD while one has the original.)

By the way, thanks to Sub and to all who keep the community going.
