  EGP Overide
Posted by: #66 - 2010-07-23, 06:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

How does this work?

I've edited the ini file to use a certain transponder that brings in a week of epg

Does it just work with the scheduled epg update?

PS, Starting to like NPVR (just want vertical menu!) Donation on its way.

Resolution Changer (with hotkeys or command line)
Posted by: whurlston - 2010-07-23, 03:01 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Andy VT of Missing Remote (also known as babgvant) has created an app for quickly and easily changing resolutions.

babgvant Wrote:If anyone's interested, I wrote an app that makes this really easy and works on any GPU.

ResChange works in two modes:

1) System tray app that provides three hotkey assignable resolutions of any type supported by Windows

[Image: attachment.php?attachmentid=181062&d=1279892672]

2) Command line application that accepts a resolution as an argument by passing "Width Height Rate Interlaced FixedOutput" (e.g. 1920 1080 23 false 0) - Interlaced is true/false, FixedOutput is 0,1,2 for Default, Stretch, Center modes

How to watch and record at the same time on a Compro E900F?
Posted by: Croftie - 2010-07-23, 02:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

When I attempt to watch a channel while recording it says there are no tunners avaiable and gives me the option to either, watch the program being recorded or cancel the recording.

Should it just work or is there something to configure?

Thanks,
Croftie

NPVR: Choice of default action in TV guide
Posted by: nordemoniac - 2010-07-23, 06:59 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (15)

I often use the TV-guide to change channels. ATM if you click enter on a program, the first alternativ is "Close", I would like an option that gives me the ability to set "Watch" as default.

Random hanging for a minute navigating Recordings screens
Posted by: petercooperjr - 2010-07-22, 11:13 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Here's my next hurdle trying to switch to N-PVR. When going to or navigating within the Recordings menus, sometimes the whole application seems to hang for quite a while (like a full minute or two). It then seems to keep on going (dealing with any keystrokes or remote presses I've hit in the meantime while it was hanging) as through nothing had happened. I've been trying to find a pattern to when it happens, and I haven't found one yet, although it seems to happen rather often.

While it's hanging, the application and my computer don't seem to show any spike in CPU usage or anything like that. It just seems to… sit there… waiting… before catching up to where it should be and working just fine for a little bit until the next hang.

I'm guessing I must be the only one having this problem since I haven't seen it posted anywhere here, but I'm not sure what it is about my setup that would be odd. I'm running Windows XP with a HVR-1600 and a HDHomeRun. I did import my recordings from GB-PVR into N-PVR, so my wild guess is that there's something odd in there that it keeps on needing to search for or something. The only thing I may have that others might not is a good amount of Manual Recordings from the local government public access channel (since the EPG data doesn't really have anything for that channel), and they seemed to import into N-PVR as a new show for each recording, even though in GB-PVR they each had the same name and showed up grouped together.

Also, when I go to play back a show that was recorded in GB-PVR, the screen that pops up always says the channel is channel 2 (my first channel), no matter what channel it actually was, and although the main recording screen lists what the correct channel was. I don't know if that's related to anything or just a display issue.

Any guesses? Anyone else with this problem? Anything in particular I should be looking for in the logs?

Thank you.

  NPVR and HDHomerun

I got NPVR working. I like it better than GBPVR. There is a problem with the channels I can't fix.
The scan found 13 ATSC channels as in GBPVR but will not change from channel 15. I've tried to change the setting but nothing I do will get it to play other channels. What is the thing with channel 15?
Is there a finished version of NPVR ready?
Thanks

External tool: Transfer Season Record schedules from GBPVR to NPVR
Posted by: kendrak24 - 2010-07-22, 08:52 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (37)

I've hacked together a tool that can copy Season Record schedules from GBPVR to NPVR.
It's only been tested with GBPVR 1.3.11 and NPVR 1.5.24 so if you have another combo,
tread carefully. Backup the npvr.db3 file before using it.. If you have a standard NPVR installation, that file is located in C:\Users\Public\NPVR.

I made the tool for my own use, so it's rather techy and not the most user friendly tool that has seen the light of day, but I've added some help texts.
One key point is that the tool needs to "map" the channels between GBPVR and NPVR, i.e. it needs to figure out what id a channel in NPVR has in GBPVR. It tries to figure out this mapping on it's own, but if there are channel names that differ between GBPVR and NPVR, you have to do some manual input.

There is a preview step before actually modifying the NPVR database. This is probably of no use to most people, but it will generate some XML where those so inclined can see if the data seems reasonable...

Anyway, hopefully it will be of use to some of you...

INSTALLATION
Just unpack the zip file to a separate directory, then run GBPVRtoNPVR.exe and follow the instructions.

NOTE: On Windows7 64bit (maybe also Vista 64bit), use the x86 version.

  Newbie question on EWA
Posted by: adm1jtg - 2010-07-22, 06:43 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (1)

I have been running GB-PVR for a long time but only in its most basic mode. Lately I have been looking at the web interface piece and loving it, However, I cannot figure out how to set up a recording for the season from within the web interface.

AKA I want all episodes of house on a certain station.

Also I am running the stock GBPVR 1.4.7 with the Season Recordings plugin and whatever version of EWA it installed with.

Is there a way to setup season recording via web interface? would moving to n-pvr resolve this issue? I am tempted to stay on 1.4.7 as it works perfectly except for this one aspect and I could always vnc to the unit to setup season recordings if I have to.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

  Possible N-PVR Wiki
Posted by: steeb - 2010-07-22, 01:09 PM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - Replies (108)

Dear all,

firstly apologies if there has been some confusion over all the talk of a new N-PVR wiki. I think the release of N-PVR caught some by surprise (certainly me!) as it appears to be dramatically different from its predecessors. I could not see how a lot of documentation pertaining to N-PVR would sit (and work) well alongside the current wiki content.

I don't think what was grasped was the need for an immediate solution for the developers wishing to publish new content related to N-PVR.

I have created here: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/N-PVR/N-PVR

a new group as N-PVR (don't know if I should have called it N-PVR, I have seen many permutations!)

Perhaps a downside is that it really does demand for the creation of new content as in effect it is a possible start of a new wiki solely for N-PVR, the upsides are that it leaves the existing wiki intact for GB-PVR as it is, it is a 'clean slate' and is easily portable to any future 'new wiki'.

Is this perhaps the way to go?
If so for me the first questions would be about structure, specifically for now 'plugins' and 'skins' in which case what would be the best way to approach this, through a poll or just from comments?

best cheers

Steeb
