  Best TV Card?
Posted by: dave.t - 2010-06-29, 12:52 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Hi folks
Probably not the best place to post this but I just brought a new I5 PC.
I brought a hauppage 2200 but then found out I don't have any pci-X slots. Damn!!!!
Anyway got my money back for the hauppage.
Now the problem. Can any one suggest the next best dual digital capture card for NPVR?
I have a pci slot and another pciEX (another graphics card slot).
Any help appreciated.
Running windows7 64bit
Dave

  Annoyed with Web Radio 3.0
Posted by: Jaggy - 2010-06-28, 10:03 PM - Forum: UbuStream, Web Radio and Universe - Replies (7)

Now you have bought up "annoyances" I will agree with you there are still some MAJOR annoyances with NPVR on the NMT.............anyways the major annoyance I am getting with WR3 is when I am in Shoutcast & I scroll waaaay down the list to the 50's 60's 70's etc. & then select one sometimes it doesn't show any data & when I come back out again I am waaaay back at the top of the list so I have to scroll waaaaaaaaaay down again.....I guess that is actually two annoyances actually......or three if you add NPVR & the NMT Wink

  Turn Automatic EPG-update off?
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2010-06-28, 08:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Is it possible to turn off the automatic epg-update? I want to do this in a scheduled .bat file that runs "NextPVR.exe -updateepgonly" at the end of the file.

N-PVR 1.5.21 Small Visual Anomalies And Other Things...
Posted by: IanSav - 2010-06-28, 02:44 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

Hi,

Here are a few visual anomalies I have noted with the 1.5.21:
- Using ALT-ENTER to switch between windowed mode and full screen, when returning to windowed mode (from full screen) the window does not always appear in the same position as it started. This is not a solid failure and I am yet to find the trigger to cause the problem. If the problem occurs the window usually jumps up and too the right.
- Using the MAXIMISE control on the windowed N-PVR window enlarges the window to fill the screen but it removes the title bar and the mechanism to restore the window. The taskbar stays visible but the N-PVR icon loses its control menu.
- Should ALT-ENTER and MAXIMISE do the same thing? (They currently don't.)
- When using the default skin the time display at the top right of the main menu has the AM/PM indicator cut off at the right hand edge of the screen.
- Since upgrading to 1.5.21 the very left item of the main scrolling menu is missing. The right side is correctly shown as a darker, more transparent, item. The left most menu item is now totally missing.

I don't know if anyone else is seeing any of these things but I thought it worth reporting in case it supports other people's observations. I am using Wiindows XP, with ffdshow and the N-PVR default skin.

I would also like to ask if anyone has seen a N-PVR crash if the UI is active watching a live TV program when the EPG update starts? I update the EPG from the DVB-T signal.

May I also ask a couple of wishes? Can the tray menu include an item for the background recording service. The item can show a tick or other prompt to show the service is running and then selecting that item will toggle the run status of the service. The tick could be coloured green if the service is running and red if it is running and active (a recording is in progress). Also, can the SETTINGS item be added to the tray menu.

Regards,
Ian.

  Glitchy audio on DVB-S
Posted by: siliconaudio - 2010-06-27, 11:43 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Is there any reason NPVR would fear worse than GBPVR in regard to glitchy audio?

Since moving to Win7, I have always had some audio glitchyness on some of the FreeView NZ channels (particularly those on the Optus D1 12456 H transponder). But with NPVR, low bit-rate channels, such as C42 are particularly bad, with audio breaking up so badly that it makes watching the channel unbearable.

I have tried various Mpeg audio decoders but can't seem to improve this at all. It's also not related to any one particular make/model of DVB-S tuner. I'm getting well over 90% signal quality and a set-top satellite receiver has no such problem.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe because we no longer have the choice to choose the BDA Multiplexer, the TS-Mux isn't handling this as well as the Mux I used to use.

Any suggestions on how to sort this would be much appreciated.

No picture with DVB-T, DVB-S works fine
Posted by: agerdin - 2010-06-27, 07:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (34)

Sub,

After my mistake by not setting any decoders I go my DVB-S part to work. However, the DVB-T side does not work. I do not get any picture or sound and a record results in a 0 byte file. I am using the HVR-4400 card and the channel scan works fine with both -S and -T.

Log is attached when trying to watch a channel.

Thanks

I am not getting any channels show up when I scan with any of the devices available to choose from. I'm wondering if its because qam device is showing up as a dvb-c type?

  High Priority Recording Service
Posted by: Northpole - 2010-06-27, 03:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Any chance that this might be added to npvr...

<ForceHighPriorityRecordingService>true</ForceHighPriorityRecordingService>

I previously had a couple of HDPVR issues with the older gbpvr software. When I changed this to true, it seemed to solve them. Now I seem to be having a few similar issues with npvr.

Also, I haven't been able to get the manual record option to work.

Thanks.

  Clarification on installation requirements NPVR?
Posted by: peter_h - 2010-06-27, 11:55 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

So I don't have to install them all, which specific .NET versions would I need to install on a fresh Win XP sp3 machine?

Also, I noticed that when I installed NPVR on a fresh WinXPsp3 box, with only the latest VS2008 C++ redist files installed (as instructed), the VIDEOS and MUSIC screens showed no items. Only after I also installed the old VS2005 C++ redist files did items appear.

Thanks Smile
