Introduction from the wiki....
This is a ‘Blue’ skin with an appealing ‘Retro’ theme which is reflected in the backgrounds, images, icons, fonts and colours used. This results in a ’Visibility Enhanced’ skin which is effective over a wide range of devices from large widescreen TVs to 14” 4x3 portables, whether directly attached to a PC or served by NMT/MVP extenders.
Although it has matured over the years into a smooth and elegant skin suitable for all users, it still meets the original design objective which was that tired old eyes could clearly see the 29” TV on the other side of the room and Mrs Jaggy could read the Main Menu and Recordings Menu on her 14” TV.
(introduction written for us by a happy user)
Hi folks
I have a new PC. Core I5 with hauppauge 2200.
This is connected to an a100 popcorn hour
When I run NPVR on the popcorn it looks great. I goto the TV guide and choose a channel.
The channel comes up, but it has a problem at about 20 seconds in. It then replays the same 20 seconds over.
Here are the logs
Thanks in Advance
Dave
I'm running GBPVR 1.4.7 with a playback setting VMR 9 Full screen. after the program is ideal for a while the screen goes Black and I have exit and re-enter the program so it will work.
when I was using vmr9 custom I didn't have that problem. VMR9 full screen work better with HDTV playback.
Just trying the NPVR 1.5.21 for the first time, and have a few questions/comments...
1. Is there some way to set the default EPG source when scanning a device? Right now NPVR defaults to the channel EPG, so I have to go in and change every channel one by one to XMLTV.
2. Right clicking a channel brings up the "Details" option, but it doesn't actually open the Details screen. I still have to click the Details button.
3. I can't find a way to set a recording manually? For example, if I want to record channel 2 from 10:15am to 10:18am for testing.
4. Can I still use my old Postprocessing.bat and UpdateEPG.bat batch files from GBPVR? I've put a lot of time into my EPG and show processing procedures that rely on these two batch files.
5. Is there a way to change the number of channels displayed on the TV Guide?
I have had this problem since I started using GB-PVR over a year ago. I posted something once, but didn't follow up until now, because I was hoping to detect a pattern to it, but I have failed to do so.
When I set a recurring recording, the show records a majority of the time. Sometimes, however, it simply vanishes from the pending list; either a single occurrence of the program will appear in the list as though they are not set to record, or all the occurrences of that program will do so. Sometimes, after the next guide update, they reappear as normal. For a long time, I blamed the dodgy Australian networks for changing the name of the program by adding a space to the end (they often make more obvious changes--a wildcard would be nice), but then I noticed that even the web-based programs in the Schedules Direct listings have this problem.
I have hit a wall with this. Any ideas to get me thinking again would be most welcome.
I've had a go at developing a new skin for NPVR. This is the first time I've attempted to release a skin solo, so I like to think of this as the start of something.
A couple of notes:
You should just simply have to copy the extracted folder to your NPVR skin folder [i.e ...Users\User_Name\NPVR\Skin\] and select the "Wave" skin from the options menu
This skin has been designed for HD 16x9 displays, as far as I can see there is nothing preventing users from using it on 4x3 displays but element positions mightn't always work.
As I said this is the beginning of something rather than a finished polished skin. I hope to develop it further as NPVR matures
nPVR is still a beta, so some feature might not work on an app level. I'm really interested in hearing if any features work in another skins but not in "Wave".
How easy is it to change font size (for TV guide program description and other areas)? On my 28inch SD TV the TV guide description is unreadable. Is there something built in or would it require skin changes?
I can't seem to get SRT files to display. Additionally, my SRT files keep getting deleted unless i set them as read only for "system". Is this known behavior?
I have refrained from posting this for a few days until I was sure I wasn't doing something stupid or going mad.
Here's the problem - if I schedule recordings, I come back and find that my PVR has shutdown completely. Not in standby or hybernation - the PC is off.
This never happened for a year of running GBPVR and the PC is set to go into standby when it's not in use - which it does successfully.
I might get 15 minutes of the recorded show, but that's it. I have never seen this PC shutdown before, and I can watch TV for days and it never happens. It seems it must be recording for it to happen.
I can find nothing in Windows event logs and nothing of real interest in NPVR's logs. What on earth could be happening here?!?!
