I've got a really strange problem thats cropped up recently. Any .ts files I record with GBPVR, I can't play them back -- the video is fine but there's no sound.
I can playback the files fine in both WMP and VideoLan with sound, but GBPVR won't!
I tried re-registering the filters and other panic tweaks (turn off internal .ts reader, etc) but with no avail.
I just reinstalled Windows 7 and now when I start up PVRX2, nothing happens when I click on TV guide or Live TV. That means I can't program what I want to record at the moment. I did go through setup and entered the path to my XMLTV file (xml) and clicked on Update EPG, which gives me channels in the Channels tab. Any ideas?
I just wanted to relate a short conversation I had with their support team today which disappointed me greatly.
I've got a Cinergy Hybrid USB stick that works fine with GBVPR, MCE and others on my 2.8GHz box, but only functions with TerraTec's own software on the 2.3GHz PC I use in the living room.
According to their support team, TerraTec does *not* provide for nor guarantee that their producs will support any BDA-compliant applications other than their own. This means that if their cards don't want to work with GBPVR, Microsoft MCE, etc. then they're not interested to hear from you.
Looking under the covers, I can see device-specific configuration files with "special" timings on the BDA scan and lock side, giving me the impression that their products, while supporting BDA, are not fully compatible.
I looked at Hauppauge, and they do claim compatibility with Microsoft MCE and hence a very good chance it will work well with GBPVR.
Just my two cents, but it's time to dump my TerraTec stuff on eBay and start over.
I'm thinking about making the switch to the latest GBPVR release, I currently use Media Portal. I was just wondering if you guys could comment on what my expectations might be for getting a working and stable system up and running based on the type of configuration I want to deploy.
Basically the story is that I have been running MediaPortal 1.0 Final for some time now and have been quite happy with it. Recently however I implemented another node (so have gone multiseat) and as a result have had some issues (first with 1.0, which required an upgrade to 1.1 RC1, which fixed some problems but introduced some more). My environment is working, but I am now having problems every second day or so which is a bit annoying.
My configuration is as follows:
My server is a AMD X2 4800+ (2.5 GHZ Dual core) based system with 2GB of RAM. This box is also connected to an LCD telly via HDMI. It runs XP SP3 with all latest hotfixes and has a Hauppage WinTV TD-500 Dual DVB-T Tuner card. It has all my photos, home movies etc stored on it. I use CoreAVC as my H.264 codec (for NZ Freeview HD TV), and all video processing is done by the CPU. It works well as a HTPC with all freeview channels playing smoothly.
My new client PC is an ASUS eeeBOX 1012, which is a dual core Atom CPU with the Nvidia ION chipset. I use the CoreAVC codec with GPU support which works well giving me smooth freeview telly. This box is a client to my server and is connected via a 100Mb full duplex wired Ethernet network. All live and recorded TV is fed from my server (along with photos, home movies etc). This box also runs XP SP3 with all latest hot fixes etc. It has 2 or 3GB of RAM ( cant remember off the top of my head ;-).
I'd like to continue to use XP (just to avoid too much change) and install GBPVR on these two boxes - in the same type of configuration, server that is also a client, and a remote network client. With MediaPortal there is a lot of fiddling around, and unfortunately even with the latest release still some issues that are not so conducive for stable use.
In my proposed multiseat configuration, do you think I should have a realistic expectation that with GBPVR I should just be able to install, configure and have it work solidly with what I have? Or am I likey to be up for weeks worth of fiddling to get it stable?
I dont mean any of this in a bad way BTW, I'm just trying to be realistic about my time investment if I switch My options might be to stay with Media Portal but wait for the next release, or try something new - as I remember, when I first started out with all this, the only reason I didnt go with GBPVR originally was at the time Media Portal supported NZ Freeview telly and GBPVR didnt (which is obviously not the case now)
I'm using version 1.4.7 of GB-PVR with an ATI All-In-Wonder tuner card and Schedules Direct. Don't claim to be a genious but I've read several posts regarding how to do recurrent/series recordings to no avail. Could someone guide me to a post or tutorial where this is explained. Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks!!
Planning to add a HD-PVR to my setup soon, and have a couple of questions
1) New database. I've been using GB-PVR for 3+ years now and I think it's time for a new database. I have a few corrupt shows in there, and I don't mind if I end up re-recording a show I saw years ago. Do I just stop GB-PVR, remove the old database, and reboot?
2) Channel editing. I'm using Schedules Direct and see that they don't support 2 copies of the FIOS Digital Lineup. Therefore, in order to have the HD-PVR only record HD shows I will have to disable the SD channels for it in the capture source setup. There are hundreds of these channels. Any way to do this with a text editor? Pretty much every channel below 500 is SD, so I"m hoping a quick find-replace would do the trick
I've posted here a couple of times about live TV lockups. Different codecs haven't helped, but disabling Live Preview mode appears to have solved the problem.
Are there any disadvantages to turning off Live Preview?
My options might be to stay with Media Portal but wait for the next release, or try something new - as I remember, when I first started out with all this, the only reason I didnt go with GBPVR originally was at the time Media Portal supported NZ Freeview telly and GBPVR didnt (which is obviously not the case now)
