hi!
i had this in my GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log today:

so, there oviously was a 30 second timeout wait for a db lock, resulting in 30 missed seconds of scrubs Sad
what could be the cause of this? the pc ran unattended at the time, so nothing should have been able to interfere with the db access.

PVRX2 crashes when trying to timeshift specific digital channel
Posted by: arkennedy75 - 2010-03-17, 12:06 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I'm having trouble with PVRX2 crashing (return to main menu) when trying to view a show in timeshift mode (watch show while its still being recorded) on only one digital channel. After the show finishes recording I can view fine in PVRX2. All other digital and analog channels can be timeshifted with no problem. I've attached my logs after a crash. Thank you for your help.

Live Tv & Recording finnishes = black screen
Posted by: Elmo Putney - 2010-03-16, 10:07 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Noticed another issue with my recent win7 fresh install, on my server if I'm watching live tv and a recording stops on another channel pvrx2 goes to a black screen and needs killing before it will function again.
I will try reordering my tuners to see if it could be tv card related, but I've attached logs in case there is anything obvious.>>Event happened around 20:04 on the 16th.

  PC doesn't wake up sometimes
Posted by: aesn5 - 2010-03-16, 09:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (15)

Hello,

I've been using GB-PVR for several months now and it works very well. But sometimes it doesn't wake up for scheduled recordings. I've scheduled two succeeding recordings on last Sunday (2010-03-14), the first one on 22:40 and the second one on 23:55. Strangely only the second one was recorded (more precisely, as the second one aired just after the first, the first still got the last bit due to pre-show padding, as it was started when the PC resumed from hibernation for the second scheduled recording). What also irritates me is the log entry "Found new Pending recording needed wakeup request: Dexter (14.03.2010 23:55:00)". Shouldn't it be more something like "Found ... (14.03.2010 22:40:00)"? I've attached the logs. I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

PVR150 component input playback problem- not GBPVR related - happens in MCE too
Posted by: rcs914 - 2010-03-16, 07:01 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (20)

Hi Folks-

I'm yet another newbie at the "do it yourself" PVR thing, but I've been reading lots here at the forum. Yesterday I bought and installed a PVR150MCE card in my old HP dual core athlon machine with XP MCE, currently running SP3. Installation of the card, and GBPVR (following the install guide PDF) was straightforward. As I don't currently have an s-video cable I used the component out from my comcast STB into the component in on the pvr150, and then 9-pin video out from the computer to the TV.

Here's the issue - when I either select live TV, or try to record a program, I get video that plays for about half a second, then flashes to black screen, then video, then black screen, etc etc. The GBPVR channel changer overlay will display with no problem.

After trying lots of different combos on the playback menu with no difference, as well as recording part of a program and getting the same result, I decided to see if it was an issue with with GBPVR or if it was outside of that. I fired up Media Center, and pulled up the TV portion. While I wasn't able to get it all the way set up since I didn't have an IR blaster yet, I was able to get the preview window, and the video was doing the exact same thing - it will play for .5 to 1 second, flash to black for at least a second, then back to video, black, video, black etc etc. While the video is playing, it is smooth on the screen, not choppy. I did not yet have audio set up, so I can't state if this was working or not.

As this isn't an issue with GB-PVR directly I didn't feel comfortable posting it in the support forum, but I'm hoping that someone else may have a pointer as to what may be wrong with the video. I've googled just about everything I can think of regarding the PVR-150 and flashing or blinking video, and even went to searching just for tuners having that problem. I've come up with no one discussing the issue as I'm experiencing it.

I really appreciate any assistance anyone here can render. I'm going to pick up a S-video cable tonight to see if that makes any difference, but I'm certainly not having luck with component right now.

The one thing I've not yet tried is replacing the decoder. There are two on my system currently, including the cyberlink one included, as well as one for muvee (no idea what this is, it was on the box when I got it) and neither of these made a difference.

Thanks,

Chris

Freeze to black screen when stopping wmv, mkv, some avi files
Posted by: jksmurf - 2010-03-16, 04:50 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (6)

Hi Martin :-)

I notice on the PCH A100 that I get a freeze (PCH Lock-up) to a black screen when stopping OR coming to the end of wmv, mkv, some avi files. Needs a pull-the-plug restart every time. Running off a USB stick but that shouldnlt make any difference right?

Seems to be generally OK (all the time actually) with standard mpg files and mp4 files.

Is this a limitation of mvpmx2 or the NMT (15 Mar 10 f/w) with latest mvpmcx2? How can I help diagnose?

Cheers
k.

  HD PVR Blaster Issues
Posted by: bgrieb - 2010-03-16, 11:48 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (12)

I recently switched from an HVR-1600 to an HD PVR for captures on my 64-bit Windows 7 installation and have had all sorts of problems with the IR blaster either hanging or failing to initialize properly. Whenever that occurs the recording is tanked. I have the same problems regardless of whether I use GB-PVR (preferred) or the Hauppauge software.

I never had problems with the blaster for the HVR-1600 in the same system (same OS). That being said, I was considering the concept of putting that card back in the system and using it strictly for the channel changing ability. Is anyone aware of any conflicts or problems that would be created by doing this? Is it even possible and/or has anyone tried it?

Thank you in advance for any input.

BG

Watching .TS files on my MVP, not in GBPVR emulation mode
Posted by: Probedude - 2010-03-16, 05:20 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

I've got GBPVR running for the past week or so, accumulating some PBS shows that I'd like to watch on my TV in the other room using MediaMVP.

I tried running the MVP in GBPVR emulation mode but I didn't like what I saw - lockups, menu text running off the screen, no video or audio when trying to playback shows. (rev D3A MVP if that matters)

Until I can spend a lot of time fiddling, I'd rather just use the Hauppauge MVP software and watch my recordings as I'm used to that - except I can't play .TS files.

Questions:
- what conversion do I pick to convert my .TS files into for the MVP player to play them? Is this on the config program under the processing tab?
- Is the MVP player capable of 16:9 output for shows I'm recording OTA that are in 16:9 format?
- Any reason I should stick with .TS files and not do post processing of the files?

TIA,
Dave

Aspect Ratio not right when viewing recoding
Posted by: larrypg - 2010-03-16, 01:40 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I am using an OnAir-GT as a tuner and got tired of their program crashing, so I migrated to GB-PVR. The Live TV works great. I set up an aspect ration setting in the config.xml file that takes a 4:3 program that is pillar-boxed for HDTV that in turn gets letter-boxed for my 4:3 screen. Works like a champ. I have no issue switching between aspect ratios using F7. I actually changed the key mapping to Ctrl-A because my remote won't send F-keys.

However, if I hit pause or watch something previously recoded, it stretches the screen vertically, like an aspect ratio of 0,0,1,1 would do. It is basically taking my letterboxed 16:9 image and stretching it vertically to fit my 4:3 screen. I cannot switch between the aspect ratios that work oh so well in live TV mode.

What do I have set up wrong?
