Simple pattern matching when identifying shows to record
Posted by: konkrog - 2010-03-10, 12:18 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

I've been GBPVR for years now, but only for recording purposes.

There is one functionality I've been missing, and that is that I would like to record a whole season of a tv-show, and the problem is that the name of the show changes slightly from week to week. The main portion of the title remains the same, but the episode name is attached at the end, and therefore I have to program the recording every week.

Is there any new functionality in the later versions that can handle this?

When I need is to specify the part of the name that remains constant throughout the season, and that all programs with names that contain this text is then recorded.

I'm mainly using the web interface for recording, it is possible to make such a function available there?

I installed the last version of GBPVR in 2008, and I haven't bothered upgrading because it works so wellSmile. I will however consider upgrading if this functionality is available in one of the later releases.

Managing DVD Folders in the Video Library
Posted by: Grinder2112 - 2010-03-10, 06:49 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Hi all. This is my first posting to these forums, so I hope I'm not overlooking any social conventions. My question is looking for a sort of bird's eye view, rather than a specific problem. That has made a search for an answer in the wiki and forums difficult, as I do not have any good keywords to home in on the missing concepts.

Having installed the current GB-PVR on a Windows XP machine, I've begun the process of exploring usage scenarios to tweak the system's settings. Live TV and Recording are working well, but I'm now focusing on the Video Library.

The Video Library will be substantially populated by DVD rips. I've started by putting that rip into a folder, named after the title of the film, in a VIDEO_TS folder. folder.jpg and MyMovies.xml has been chucked into the top level of that folder to flesh out the details screen. When I go to the Video Library, I see the folder, and the corresponding *.dvd pseudofile when I drill down into that folder. When the *.dvd is highlighted, I see the appropriate thumbnail and metadata displayed in the right-hand side of the screen.

What I would prefer to see, though, is the thumbnail and metadata when I have the top-level folder selected, and be able to "play" it there instead of having to drill down.

Can the default Video Library be configured to do that? Should I even be using the default plug-in? (That's the bird's eye view I would like from the experts.)

I would prefer to keep the install as close to "stock" as possible to simplify self-help support and installation issues, but also want the video navigation to be descriptive and obvious to use. I'll quickly add that there may be other video files just tossed into the videos folder, at the same level as the dvd rip folders, as well.

Thanks for any guidance you can offer.

PC wakes up, but doesn't go back to hibernate
Posted by: Probedude - 2010-03-10, 06:33 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I'm running WinXP, 950Q tuner, OTA reception, using MC2XML for my EPG, updating at 1AM.

I have WinXP setup to:
System standby in 3 mins, hibernates in 5 mins.

When I'm done using my PC at night it will hibernate w/o any problem.

When I wake up the next morning for work (5:30am), my PC is on. System logs show that it woke up at 1AM.

I don't have any shows set up to record. I don't see that the HD activity light is lit, don't see that anything was running.

Why doesn't my computer wake up, update the EPG, then hibernate again?

TIA,
Dave

  Recording Problems
Posted by: Tinker - 2010-03-10, 05:08 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I am having problems with my recordings. I have many occurrences where the recording shows up in the list just fine but the file is 0 bytes. I am not sure if this is a reception issue or something else.

This latest issue is a little different but happens quite often also. Something appears to happen during recording and it stops recording but the recording service still show that it is recording. It will stay like this for hours until I restart the recording service. then it shows the tuner idle again.

I am not sure why I am having so many problems with my recordings. I am attaching some logs. This time it happened I actually had a recording conflict. This is not normally the case and it still happens the same. I started to have problems like this and my machine was just a little bogged down and needed to be cleaned up so I reinstalled windows and got everything set up again and i thought that I was good but it is having lots of problems.

Here is a quick rundown on my setup.
GBPVR Server - Windows XP GBPVR Version 1.4.7
GBVPR Client - Windows XP GBPVR Version 1.4.7
Popcorn Hour A110
HDHomeRun dual digital tuner (used for OTA, no cable/sat)
Firewall is turned off

I hope this is clear. Can anyone help?

  SearchWiz config crash

With SearchWizX1 1.0.16.1, if I run config and bring up the plug-in settings, then do a "Save", config crashes:

This seems to have started after I used the config to delete a filter.

3 Channels that won't go away
Posted by: Hishighness420 - 2010-03-10, 02:24 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hey all, I deleted an analog source and there are 3 channels left over from it that I can't get rid of no matter what I do. I've tried readding them and then manually deleting them but nothing I do seems to get rid of them. I was wondering if there was any way I can get rid of them because I don't want to have to start all over again with GBPVR.

Thanks for your time.

Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 and Windows 7
Posted by: broadband412 - 2010-03-10, 02:19 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi, I'm thinking about getting a new computer with windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit but according to Hauppuage web site it looks like this card won't work in 64 bit machine with 4GB of RAM or more. Anyone have any experience with the PVR USB2 card under win 7 home premium 64 bit and 4GB or more of RAM? Thanks. Don't really want to throw out this PVR USB2 card.

Random skipping on playback with PCH a100
Posted by: Esteban - 2010-03-09, 10:25 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (8)

This has plagued me ever since I got the NMT working with GBPVR using mvpmcx2 more than a month ago. Playing back GBPVR hd recordings has been difficult. The most common issue is I'll skip forward with the 25 second jump I have set, and the program jumps almost to end of the file. Not from everywhere I try, but at some specific point in the program. Things are going great, and them suddenly it skips to the end. It will happen everytime from anywhere around that point. Other behavior is that it will skip forward when I try to skip back, or skip way more than it should.

I've been thinking that the files I'm try to play have information missing from bad reception, and so I haven't bothered to ask about it on the forum. But lately this has been happening with even seemingly flawless files. So I just did a test with an Office episode where the problem occurred about 5-6 minutes in. Then I tried to duplicate it playing the file on the PCH without using GBPVR. No problem. Then I tried playing on the server directly in GBPVR. No problem. So it is clear that at least some of the time, the problem is unique to pch and GBPVR.

I'd like to know if there is something wrong with my PCH as the warranty period is still in effect. The reason I wonder is that I don't see any other postings with the same problem. It's really not practical to playback anything on the PCH using GBPVR. The interface works great for scheduling etc., however.

If you want me to post logs or need more information, I'll be happy to. Thanks for reading.

Esteban
