Thinking of getting a Hauppauge Pvr-1212?
Posted by: hexibot43 - 2010-03-11, 02:02 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Is anyone out there using one of these units? Is it compatible with GBPVR? I'd love to use the output from my HD Sat box as a source for GBPVR. I tried searching the forum for anything....but couldn't come up with anything.

Thx,

Mab

  Internet Video Suggestions
Posted by: observer_11 - 2010-03-11, 01:40 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

What if any sites do folks recommend for internet based streaming video such as movies, tv shows, documentaries, etc? Is streaming video for hi-speed internet consumers mature enough for descent resolution? Can any of the internet video be integrated into GBPVR, similar to Net Radio only for video broadcasts?

  Cable STB Resolution and GBPVR
Posted by: mvallevand - 2010-03-10, 08:16 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

I've got a cable STB Scientific Atlanta 4250HD and I am trouble getting it to work perfectly with my HD-PVR for component capturing. The main problem so far is the HD-PVR drivers don't quickly respond to resolution changes so I've I'd to choose a fixed output (I chose 720p over 1080i). Working with Pass-Through was better except changing between HD/SD caused corruption.

The main trouble with fixed mode is the STB adds pillar box to SD content so it is difficult to scale. I've fixed this on the PCH, but can can anyone offer a solution on how to do this cropping with GBPVR. Cropping standard 4x3 with letterbox content is not a problem but VMR remove letterbox for this content gives the output shown below. Any suggestions?

Martin

Whats the general concensus for best GBPVR OS?
Posted by: teookie - 2010-03-10, 07:46 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (35)

I'm thinking of doing a reload of the OS on my GBPVR machine just due to some general weirdness going on with the system (it's been trucking along just fine for probably two years or so now).

I have copies of XP-pro and Vista Business in both 32bit and 64bit flavors. If you were to reload your system, what OS would you pick? Vista has all that weird administrator crap in it, but it does have EVR. XP is like an old reliable vehicle. Might not look as flashy but sure works well. Are the (supposed?) superior media handling capabilities of Vista worth the annoyances?

Just looking for some opinions here, thanks!

  separate recording and season-dump.xml
Posted by: pBS - 2010-03-10, 05:01 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (7)

i would love to see the season recordings and recording info in separate dumps, as it makes it really hard to separate afterwards, have to get an xml parser working, and hope it doesn't take a ton of code to do..
could easily import from another machine with a batch file if they're separate, as it is, it imports season recordings also...which is not usable..
plus for those just importing old dumps...not needing extra season info as it's old..

sure, i can edit the file but it makes scripting import very hard to do...
and just seems to make sense to separate them as they serve different purposes..

[and most people don't change season recordings daily, so wouldn't need multiples backed up for season recs.[tho not opposed to that]
and maybe put them into a 'backup' subdir for cleanliness..Smile

any changes in this area for next release?
[before i muffle thru making a program to do it the hard way]

Can I change TV Guide colors?
Posted by: tisch006 - 2010-03-10, 03:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hellow all!

Very new to GBPVR (1st mediacenter PC) but so far I've had very few issues!

One thing I've been looking for is a way to chage the colors for the program categories shown in the TV Guide. Some programs are shown in yellow and are very hard to read.

I'm using version 1.4.7 with the Weather2, Netflix Watch Now, and XMLT Ultra Enhancer plugins and MC2XML.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Failed Item on Manage Recordings will not delete
Posted by: WebbedToe - 2010-03-10, 01:35 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - No Replies

A yellow failed recording notification will not go away on the Manage Recordings page of the EWA. I've confirmed the file is deleted via "my computer". I've tried multiple times to delete the item by pressing the red delete button. I've also opened and refreshed the web page on several computers. This was a manual recording to test my set up and I forgot to name the recording.

Thanks for your time!

No video for some channels in Australia
Posted by: skat - 2010-03-10, 01:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I am located in Adelaide, Australia with an HDHomerun DVB-T tuner and have difficulties getting any video on channel 11 (programs: ONE Digital, TEN Digital) and channel 12 (programs: ABC1, ABC2...).

I have tried all the tricks I could find on the forums and this is the status:
(0) All channels work fine in HDHomerun's own QuickTV player.
(1) GB-PVR: No audio&video for C11 and C12. All other channels work fine.
(2) Installed the config.exe patch from http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=350169 and rescanned => no improvement
(3) Used the repair utility from http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=44119 which fixed the audio but there is still no video showing.
(4) Installed ffdshow with all formats enabled => still no video.

I assume that although the utility at (3) helped fix the VideoPIDs there still must be something wrong with the tuning strings.

My current scan.cache is attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
skat

  GB-PVR "freeze" durning DVD playback
Posted by: hoborg - 2010-03-10, 12:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

Hi.
I have strange problem with DVD playback under GB-PVR and i was not able to resolve it by myself for long time now.

What happend and how:

Basically, i can play all DVDs without any problem thanks for SAF and AnyDVD from original DVD/riped to ISO or folder on hardisk. The problem happend ond second (some time third and more) try to play DVD. By other words, i can start DVD then back to GB-PVR gui and start it again and now problem happend. If not, than back to GB-PVR and play it again...

What the problem is?
Well, DVD starts and continue to play normally, but GB-PVR somehow "freeze". It is no longer possible to controll it by remote, keyboard or mouse, even if GB-PVR runs in window mode, it is not possible to move with this window (but DVD playback continue normally). All i can do is kill GB-PVR by task manager. This problem only happend on DVDs.
I checked LOGs and i didnt found any problem here.

I tested multiple audio/video decoders, but without any difference.

Does anybody have any idea why this happening?

BTW, my HTPC is XP (VMR9 FSE renderer) based. I was trying to reproduce the problem on my Win7X64 (EVR renderer) but here seems to be working correctly...

Thanks.
