  WinTV-PVR-500MCE useful anymore?
Posted by: SuperG - 2010-01-30, 06:02 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

A few moons ago, I bought a WinTV-PVR-500MCE with the nVidia DVD decoder planning to have a 3 tuner (I own a USB PVR too) install of GBPVR. Shortly after the items arrived my world got turned a bit upside down and the card sat NIB until I came across it again today.

I'm at a crossroads.

I still have the full height beastie box (down 1 HD due to failure) that could take this card. It's turned into a family PC though and it would be hard fought to get it back for a dedicated PVR. It has a beefy power supply, high-end video card, and 4 GB of RAM. The big issue is it's a Prescott processor, so it's a hot box with a lot of fan noise. Outside of a new drive, it's all paid for.

I just came into a small form-factor Core2 box that is dead silent. It has (2) PCIe x1 slots, a PCIe x16 slot, and a PCI slot. 2.33 2 core proc, can take up to 8GB of RAM (4 is planned), 2 SATA HDs, and a full size CD-type drive. It's limited to a 240W power supply with no possible upgrade. Probably close to $400 to get this box into a dual-tuner HVR-2250, (2)500GB HDs, Geforce 8400 GS, 4GB or RAM.

I'm not digital at this stage, so analog tuners are fine for now.

Each direction has pluses and minuses. Anybody have some thoughts on which path to take?

  "PVRX2.exe Entry point Not Found"
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2010-01-30, 12:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'v tried to set up a testrig running gbpvr on Win7/x86 (the x64 version is incompatible with too much of my other SW), and encounter the above mantioned error message when trying to start PVRX2. In addition it says " The procedure entry point _ftol2 could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll". The recording service is started and I can run Config.exe without problems, all the expected channels is there too.

Any ideas anyone?

playing video stutters / stops from NAS
Posted by: rowyourboot - 2010-01-29, 08:59 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have a problem watching video files from a NAS (Netgear STORA) with GBPVR.

I can show the same file with GBPVR from HD and USB devices.
I can show the file from the NAS with MediaPlayer.

But if I try it with GBPVR from NAS some times the picture stops (audio is going on).

If picture stops the CPU power is low.

I try some different codecs but there is always the same result (Nvidia, ffdshow).

HD 650 Dual Cards install QAM and ATSC Channel Seperation
Posted by: luttrell1962 - 2010-01-29, 08:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Ok I have 2 dual tuners installed some of the qam channels map out the same as atsc. But I want multiple listings in the tv guide. It seems to be defaulting to qam, butting recording is defaulting to atsc. How do I manually create new channels that will get tv guide entries but have 2 listing 1 for atsc and 1 for qam.

Hard question I know thanks

Windows 7 problems with h264 playback
Posted by: RogerSillars - 2010-01-29, 07:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi,

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) and GBPVR 1.4.7. I am in New Zealand and am having problems with playback of DVB-T programs and other H264 encoded programs.

I use the Microsoft Codec as it is free and seems good quality. However my problem is that while playing in GBPVR the CPU averages around 40% (Dual core Athon 2x). When I playback the same video using VLC, Media Player or Media Center the CPU is under 10%, much smoother and has less distortion.

I've heard people try to use FDDSHOW but I ran into problems getting any picture at all. I'd rather use the MS one if possible. I'm guessing it is not using hardware assisted processing (I'm using a Radeon 4670).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

  Can't wait to buy a PCH C-200
Posted by: cooper43 - 2010-01-29, 07:32 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

Have GBPVR working perfectly with my A110 upstairs and want to replicate all this with Bluray, Gig-E and the performance gains of a C-200 in the basement. mvpmcx2 working on the C-200 is a must however as everything I do on the PCH is through GBPVR (music, movies, live TV etc.)

I saw the posts a few weeks ago saying that you are getting support on porting to C-200. Do you now feel it is likely that this will work, I'm having a hard time resisting the temptation to buy...

  Channel list gets screwed up
Posted by: luttrell1962 - 2010-01-29, 06:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have a ati hd 650pcie, I'm using schedules direct to download channels. I've disabled channels that I do not get in atsc antenna. But they kept popping backup in the channel list. So I edited schedules direct line up to remove the unused channels. Still some are showing up anyway.

I removed them from the epg but some are showing up anyway.

When I manually added a channel to the analog epg the channel list did not get updated with the new channel.

Seems to be some problems with config.exe in regards to the epg/mapped channels and the channel list. What files are associated with epg/mapped channels and the channel list. I can manually edit them if possible.

I think this is only a problem with dual or multiple tuners.

Ok the manually added channel finally showed up...

  AT&T U-Verse
Posted by: SuperG - 2010-01-29, 05:08 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I haven't seen a definitive answer in a search of the forums and I think this is the right spot to ask:

Can you use GBPVR with AT&T U-Verse?
