  DVB-T tuning problems
Posted by: BigMoose - 2009-12-17, 08:49 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I'm having problems with the Irish DVB-T channels which used to work fine (fine when the signal is being transmitted! It's still technically a test here so not 100% reliable) but recently I've not been able to get them to tune in. The scan finds all the channels on two mux's (C61 seems to have the best signal). When I bring up the "map digital channels" screen in the config.exe, it shows RTE1 in the little window (but the tuning info must be some old config) as when I then do a rescan and click on one of the found channels the preview screen stops working. In pvrx2 when I select one of these channels the external amp shows some PCM sound briefly then it stops and the screen stays blank. It's odd that the scans seem to work but the results are unusable. I've read the "digital switch over" problem thread about DTT issues in Wales and no idea if this is related. It used to work find and clearly the channels are still watchable as sometimes I do get them in the preview window from some old config (which I'm guessing is the RTE1 tuning request I can see in the config.exe-native.log?). Logs and resulting scan.cache file attached. Any ideas??

Opening up a Hauppauge remote ?
Posted by: martint123 - 2009-12-17, 03:58 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Is there an obvious, non destructive, way of getting inside a Hauppauge remote? both mine are now a bit iffy with the 'OK' key and this leads to all sorts of mayhem with GBPVR as I'm not always sure it has been received and sometimes press up/down to see if the menu moves - the snag is this upsets things if the 'OK' did go out ok.

Usually the conductive rubber can be carefully cleaned, but getting inside without smashing it is beating me.

  StartPVRX2 2.5

New version should help with problems when resuming from standby, especially when using the VMR9 renderer. See sig for links to the download and support thread. Comments welcomed.

WizMetadataGrabber - Use episode as local title rather than series/episode

Is there a command line switch for this? Doesn't seem to be picking up from the GUI set up.

  Question about streaming...
Posted by: jtbryant - 2009-12-17, 03:27 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

I've looked around the forum, but can't find an answer to my question.

Can GB-PVR stream live tv to another pc, and can you control the tuner on the remote pc?

I'm looking for features similar to SageTV's client/server setup. I've got a pc with a Hauppage USB 950 tuner that I would like to be able to control from a cabin that is connected back to the main house via wireless. Can GB-PVR do this?

Thanks,
jtbryant

EWA has always worked fine in XP, but I just cannot get it to work in Windows 7 - "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
Trying http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/Guide2.aspx and http://COMPUTER NAME:7647/gbpvr/Guide2.aspx
Have tried other ports, and recording service is allowed through the Windows Firewall.

Can anyone post a step-by-step idiots guide to get it working?

  VOTING for mods
Posted by: zb1 - 2009-12-16, 09:27 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (7)

Sub,
Have you considered allowing your user community to vote on the top 10/12 common suggestions (qtr, 1/2yr, yr)? It would allow everyone the opportunity to help prioritize what they need as apposed to what they want. I'm a newbie to you system and as such don't know how the mods are decided on and have some suggestions myself.

If it would help, I ran across a web site that I think might be helpful. It's called UserVoice.com and the way it works is that each person is given x tokens to vote with. This controls the number of votes and forces each voter to select carefully how they vote their tokens. This prevents everyone from voting on everything with equal weight. Just a suggestion.

WizMetadataGrabber - can it be told to try to ignore '.'
Posted by: psycik - 2009-12-16, 09:11 PM - Forum: SearchWiz & MovieWiz - Replies (7)

I keep a lot of files names with dots between them, which obviously doesn't bode well for searching for a name. Just wondering if wizmetadatagrabber can be told to ignore dots, and maybe ignore other thinks like encoding information (xvid, x264, ac3, dts) etc found in file names?

I like the dump to xml files to that the metadata can sit with the movie.

Keep up the good work.

Channel # in guide doesn't match actual channel
Posted by: philly_phenom - 2009-12-16, 09:09 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

For some reason, the local access channel for my area is listed as channel 20, but I have to tune to channel 2 on my TV (and my analog tuner).

How do I configure my PVR500 so that channel 20 from the guide actually tunes channel 2?
