Hi All. Just installed latest version of GBPVR on to PC and did a rescan. I've now lost a number of channels (E4, More4 and a few more). The 0113.ini file in the release contains the following channel information. Is this correct as I think all the channels I'm missing are on a particular MUX? Could someone post up a correct version of the ini if this is wrong.
I recently updated all my video files to include mymovies.xml files and cover art .jpg's.
It looks fantastic in Slick and Community Skin 4, because all the info is right there and it's a breeze for everyone to use.
The only downer is that if I play a video file with an .xml file, the information in the .xml file does not appear in the On Screen Display. At least I think it's the On Screen Display -- I'm talking about when a video is playing and if you move your mouse (or hit a button on your remote) a little blue bar pops up with the name of the file, the time, and a timeline of the video being played at the top of the screen.
Is there any way to include the .xml information in the OSD or have I missed something?
And am I right about THAT blue popup being the OSD?
Is it possible to configure gvpvr so that all recordings are done encrypted (and decrypt them during post-process), but still be able to watch live-tv on encrypted channels? That would solve a huge problem for me...
I've just returned from a trip to little brothers.....
He had a PCH as a plain media player but wanted to play with iPlayer and I suggested GBPVR. He had a DVB-T stick, so I told him to install GBPVR and try it.... Anyway I popped down to help get it working and did so. I said you need the PCH installing as well...
This was the first time I had tried NMTinstall, having used manual copies and edits in the past. We didn't have a great deal of sucess and the dreaded "request cannot be processed" gives no clues as to where things are going wrong.
Anyways - cutting a very long story shorter......
Can "Install mvpmcx2" be moved from the install gbpvr section and
into the PCH Setup section.
My error was to untick the GBPVR bit as it was already up and working.
I can't see any time when installing GBPVR and mvpmcx2 would need to be installed together - whereas PCH setup would need mcpmcx2.
It may be a stupid mistake of mine, but it had us going round in circles for quite a while.
Upgraded to Win 7 and foolishly tried to keep GBPVR settings from XP. I exported the recordings (with several pending recordings) and also saved the database file. After installing the same version of GBPVR (1.3.11) in Win 7 and copy back the database file, I had pending recordings that were in the past and could not be cancelled. So I copied empty.db3 to gbpvr.db3 and set up the capture sources, EPG, etc and imported the recordings. I still have pending recordings that are in the past, and it appears to affect future recordings as well. Suggestions?
I have come back to GBPVR after about a year hiatus. I found myself with a new box and have set it up with some basic hardware. I only want this box to stream basic cable and recorded videos.
I have EWA up and working, but when I stream a video, I get sound but no picture.
I have a near perfect GBPVR solution currently running on Vista Ultimate 64 - I say near as all mpeg2 is perfect (smooth as silk news tickers etc) however H264 1080i is problematic. I can only get acceptably smooth performance on pans for sport (mostly soccer) using the PDVD H264 codecs and while these can be 100% perfect, every so often they stutter (where it looks like bad deinterlacing or every other frame is being dropped. Hard to explain but the same is true for 7.3, 8 and 9). It will playback perfectly for X minutes (where X can be anywhere from 0.5 to 30 or so) then ~5 seconds of stutter, then it can right itself for another X mins (or it might stutter until I get annoyed, exit PVRX2, restart and then I'm back to perfect for a while). The fact that it's fine after I exit the app and restart make me think something funny is going on in windows but I cant see anything running that would cause the problem. The CPU us always ~5%, I changed the on board HD3200 to a HD4660 so that has enough power... Memory is Dual Channel DDR2 1066 so I assume not a problem. I'm wondering if it's DXVA related and thus a Vista issue, an ATI driver issue or a PDVD codec issue...
Anyway the question really is what do people think is the best version of Windows to use for GBPVR? I have someone offering to get me a copy of Win7 and I'm wondering if its implementation of DXVA along with the fact it's not as hungry as Vista might see an improvement. That said, should I try XP for the laugh (I have a legit copy I'm not using elsewhere)? For Win7, does it make a difference if I get home premium or professional? I'm getting a new disk so can play around with XP/Win7 and see without screwing up my Vista installation I guess!

I recently bought a 40" Samsung HDTV to replace my SDTV set (yay for black friday!) When I connected by GBPVR PC to the TV and reconfigured it to display 1080p, I noticed that video playback stutters slightly. This was not an issue with my previous TV, and I'm assuming that it is because my hardware is not adequate to fully display 1080p (1920 x 1080) TV. My current setup is listed at the end of this post.
My question is: What component(s) do I need to upgrade? My wife just gave birth a few weeks ago, so I'm definitely on a limited budget. My first thought was to increase the RAM, but I'm not sure if that is the limiting factor, or if my video card is bogging down. At the moment I'm not sure if I have the budget to upgrade both. If you guys could give me your thoughts, I'd really appreciate it.

Getting ready for a complete rescan and mapping of my DVB-T entries (Winterhill retune). When one of the frequencies was alterred a month ago, this was fine, but mapping the channels was complicated as all the old channels remained in the drop down boxes. I did try removing the tuner and creating a new one from scratch, but that seemed to loose all my recurring recordings, so I restored from backup and did it the long way.
Is there any simple way to just show the newly scanned channels (as it would be easy to select the wrong ones).
