Better Looking Text in Overlay Manager
Posted by: 235301 - 2009-11-24, 05:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Is there a way to get the show information at the bottom of the screen to look better in Overlay Manager? I need to run overlay to get smooth HD playback and everything looks great except the show information at the bottom of the screen. Would love to be able to tweak that to make it look better.

  Few recordings issues (minor)
Posted by: zvm - 2009-11-24, 01:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hello,

1. I have one minor annoyance with 1.4.7. If I delete recordings file somewhere else but not in Recordings section (i.e., directly on file system or even through Video Library) I can still see that entry in Recordings. Of course, I cannot play it (only delete).
With previous versions it was not the case. If I have deleted file, that file would have dissapeared from Recordings listing as well.

2. automated transcoding doesn't work for some recordings. Maybe it is due to Croatian special characters in file/folder names for those recordings. But, then for some other it works... It is possible that different special characters are used - so it works with some, and not with the others.
Are those assumptions correct?

3. Why is possibility to choose whether I want transcoding or not (and what kind) dissapeared from PVRX2? No, you can only set it in Config for all recordings.

4. Recordings still create empty subtitle file if teletext option is on. This wasn't the case before 1.3.x.

In the end, neither of those is really big problem or something too annoying. Just minor glitches, in my view.
Thanks for any comments!

Media Art Sharing for GBPVR users?
Posted by: jksmurf - 2009-11-24, 01:23 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

I had a thought the other day (yeah gave me a headache etc etc Wink) about media art. I have GBPVR configured to post-process (via the .bat file) downlaods of media art using ProgrammeImageTool and WizImageGrabber (kudos to both those authors).

Over the years I have built up quite a few show images which Xrecord uses for show displays (stored in devnz/GBPVR/media/art).

Does anyone else think, if it is legal, a GBPVR repository of these images would be a good idea (so we don't hit the imdb or other servers first). I don't have server space, but am willing to upload the images and maybe someone could write a plugin to do so on a regular automatic basis?

  glitches and curtailed recordings
Posted by: bdgillard - 2009-11-24, 12:18 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I have a setup with 6 tuners, 2 DVB-S PCI and 2 x 2 DVB-T which are working well apart from 2 problems:-

1) new scheduled recordings tend to use a tuner which is recording (same Mux) rather than using one of the sleeping tuners, sometimes ignoring the preroll to do this.I have lost the start of some programmes as a result.
If I manually record It will use all tuners.

2)I am getting glitches over a few frames which seem to be related to GBPVR updating its recording Schedule. I have 2 computers set up identically and the glitches occur in different places in the recordings. If I clear the pending list and only enter the recordings on a daily basis the glitches do not occur

System:- Win7 Home Premium, nvidia 8400 512Mb graphics, intel 5200 CPU 2GB mem separate partition of 400gb for recordings 2x Hauppauge nova s plus, 1x Hauppauge Nova T-500, 1 x Pinnacle 3100

Any Suggestions ?

Sound but no picture, Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2200
Posted by: vicarofskeptic - 2009-11-24, 12:15 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hi,
I’m trying to set up a new PVR system. During the “Map digital channels to EPG channels” process, many channels are located, however I get sound, no picture. Thus live TV doesn’t work.

  New install, cannot update epg
Posted by: bcdudley - 2009-11-24, 11:02 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Been using GBPVR for years now, love the program. Thank you Sub. My old XP got to where it would barely run anymore so I did a clean install of Win7. Installed all prereq's and latest version of GBPVR. Setup Hauppauge 1600 and schedules direct. Clicked update epg and waited. It said requesting... saving...closed. No channels are listed. Closed it out, rebooted, all the normal stuff. Please tell me what I am missing.

Thanks.

Problem Changing Settings for TV Recordings
Posted by: LewE - 2009-11-24, 10:14 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (6)

I try to change the settings for TV Reocrdings but they don't take. Below is the relevant section of the CONFIG log. What would cause the program to not be able to open its database file? How do I fix it?

How much bandwidth down a coaxial cable
Posted by: bethanyrayne - 2009-11-24, 08:47 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I would like to know how many programs can realistically can a coax cable deliver i.e bandwidth limitations.

I have dual Nova 500's which gives me 4 tuners and with multi record is capable of recording many channels. How many can a coaxial cable cope with?

ClearQAM cut to local channels, options?
Posted by: antialias - 2009-11-24, 06:13 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

So it seems that Comcast has cut the clearQAM to just the basic cable channels(local channels, shopping channels, discovery, and 1-2 others). I have their set top box in the bedroom and can of course still see all the "digital starter" channels up there (food network, kids channels, sci fi, etc), but now my main tv with the pvr has only basic channels and I can't record 2/3 shows we used to.

I've thought about trying to get the ir blaster going but I've fiddled with it before with the digital switchover and couldn't seem to get it to change the channel on the Comcast box. Other options are satellite though I don't know if I'll hit the same clearQAM issues there? Do they use the same QAM system? I looked at getting a cablecard tuner to use with windows media center(Would have to leave Gbpvr Sad ), but I only see one from ATI for like $250 and there doesn't seem to be a lot of info out there about it yet.

Has anybody hit the clearQAM wall yet and what solutions are working well? We love our DIY PVR and would hate to lose the configurability and freedom that comes with it.

Thanks for your input!

  General support question
Posted by: possum - 2009-11-24, 04:26 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I've been using gbpvr for a few years with a PVR150 analog card and my cable provider switched the majority of their basic lineup to digital broadcast. I upgraded to a HVR1600 card and have had a bit of a nightmare setting it up. I've got my capture source set up correctly(I believe) and my EPG seems to be up and running, but I think I'm having decoder issues. A lot of times I have sync issues, freeze ups, and flickering screens. Anybody have a rock solid decoder/mux combo they use? Also, do the advanced codecs have an influence? Most of the channels I tune in are 480i, but some of them are 720p and some are 1080i.

I have a AMD x2 processor 2.6 ghz
Diamond Radeon pcix16 HD 3650 with a 512mb i think
Haupaugge hvr-1600 tuning digital

any input would help
