I had the service crash after a sequence of events. The failures were at teh beginning of shows, so I am not sure this is related to the crash you are already working on.

On 11-24-09 at 18:58, NCIS began recording (2 minute pre), and recorded successfully. At 20:00, it stopped recording, no post due to next show on same channel. This program played back just fine.
At 20:00, NCIS-LA was supposed to record. Later at night, we found it did not show up in pending, new, or ready, as success or fail. No record it was ever scheduled to record. We figured we blew it. However, log (GBPVRRecordingService.exe-1.log) shows that it attempted to record, and got an error. No error showed up in MS system event log at this point, no error popped up, and recording service status showed "sleeping", so this is not like prior hangs. We had no idea.
Then, next morning, "who wants to be a Millionaire" did not record. 11-25-09 at 11:28. This is at teh very end of the same file. No error in the log, but the log just ends. Status still showed "sleeping", so I had no idea the recording service had died (still no idea since the night before). This time, however, it really completely died, and the event viewer shows an error. I found a DrWatson minidump on this crash, attached.
On the evening of 11-25, CSI-NY was supposed to record, and most of the way through I turned on TV and saw status at "sleeping". I restarted recordingservice, adn the recording started.
SO, to differentiate from teh other failure you were looking at:
1. The shows did not start to record. It was not a failure during recording.
2. First time, no MS event dump
3. No indication recording failed (otehr recordings missed indicate failed after I restarted service)
4. I just looked, NCIS-LA created a file that is only 6kb long, and dated 11/25/09 at 11:28am, when the service crashed upon trying to record millionaire. I'll upload that too.
5. Attempted recordings were again channel 13, but in SD, not HD.
I recently updated to the latest AVer drivers. I am running AVer M780 card, digital COmcast cable. Lots of dish space available (just installed a 1TB drive) on both C and D. No other crashes/faults on computer recently.
Just put together my first GBPVR and I would like to first off say WOW this is a very nicely developed PVR. Thanks to all that have worked on it.
I have GBPVR running on a vista 64 and a XP 64 system. The vista system has MCE and I am able to get the MCE remote blaster working with IRSS but it seems that if the system sits for any amount of time the first ir command you try to send will end up being a signal for the channel 9584 which obviously creates me a recording problem. Once its done that first signal it will then start to send the correct signal when called upon.
The XP 64 system does not have MCE as a component. I am unable to get the MCE remote and blaster to work at all. I see the ehome device in device manager but have no success in applying a driver to it.
so here is what I'm wondering.
Is there a HIP solution for X64 platform? I am unable to get hip to run without an error.
Does anyone know if HIP will solve my MCE remote driver problem on the XP 64 system?
Other work around ideas?
I want to say before hand thanks for all help and responses. I do think it is great when people take time to help.
I have a problem that I cannot figure out. I select a TV program from the listings and choose watch. When that program ends I expect (and works sometimes) that when the next program starts GBPVR/NMT will continue to play the next program. Instead I get a black screen.
Another problem which might be related is when I paus a show and choose to resume play when the next program has started it jumps to the new show and when I press stop it picks up from the old show from where I paused and continues to play for as long as I had it paused.

"E:\My Live TV\Pomos piano_1_20091126_08300855.mpg" should be followed by "E:\My Live TV\Klura Flura_1_20091126_08550900.mpg" but that show never starts to play. Instead I get a black screen where the only solution is to press return and start over again from TVlistings.
Approximately 30% of the time my recordings (via hdhomerun) of NCIS & NCIS: Los Angeles capture the SAP audio feed.
I looked in both GBPVR's config app & HDHomerun's config app & the only other audio feed is the Spanish language feed. I verified the channel mappings & I selected KYW-TV (eng) on both tuners.
Anyone else have this problem? I posted over on silicondust forums as well since I'm not sure where the problem lies.

I've just switched to the community skin and one of the cool features I've noticed is the ability to have meta tag info from video files showing up in the Video Library.
It looks really cool on the preview screen!
However, I'm a little stuck.
I converted a lot of my older TV shows to .mp4, both to save space and ensure they were playable on my iPod.
Does anyone know if meta tag info for .mp4 files is supported in GB PVR? And if it is, can anyone recommend a good program for CREATING my own tags?
Or will I need to convert them back to .avi or another format to get it working on my system?
The meta tag info on my recently recorded (and non-converted) shows (.mpegs) is fine, but I'd also like to be able to add cover art to them if possible.

I have a very old laptop IBM thinkpad t23. I can not get GBPVR 1.4.7 to run. VMR9 is not supported, I am not sure why I have DirectX9c installed. The overall manager does not work it gives me the dotnet error with the white screen with an red x. It plays all the videos I record via GBPVR that is installed on another machine via VLC player. I can run a lot of programs on the machine Autocad, photoshop ect...Bellow is the computers specs. All I want to do is use the machine as a client only view and playback the recordings I do not want to make any recordings.

Could someone explain what the difference is in the way a GBPVR PC client handles playback from 'Recordings' and 'Video Library'. If I set the client in question up to look at the same folder for both libraries, the same BBC HD H.264 .ts file plays happily from the Video folder, but stutters severely from the 'Recordings' folder. I've tried setting playback to both streaming and File Share, but it makes no difference.
The client in question is a new Acer Revo R3610 with the Ion 330 GPU. It is using EVR and Windows 7, with the correct codec's (cyberlink) and it plays the .ts files perfectly in PDVD8. The hardware acceleration seems to be working as the cpu load is minimal.
Network bandwith isn't a problem as it's a Gbit lan and the network load on the server is only showing at 20 mb/s. I don't think its a disk bottleneck on the server as 3 NMT's play quite happily together, even whilst the Video Library file is playing.
I've tried installing Hoborg's SAF and it made no difference. I've used graphedit to look at the codec's in use and they appear the same for either source, although I cant get it to report what PDVD8 is using.
Any suggestions where I could start looking for the bottleneck would be gratefully received.
If you could patent this feature, you'd make a fortune.
I'm running the latest version of TV Listings and have an unusual "Feature" in the Recordings display.
I have a season recording of "Flash Forward" that's recorded every Monday for the last few weeks. Each recording is tagged with it's date with a small exception.
Each date upto 9th Nov is shown correctly, the show on the 16th Nov is tagged "Last Monday" which isn't correct because today is Wednesday 25th Nov but here's the best one, the last recording is tagged "Next Monday" :eek:!!! WOW, I always wanted to be able to get stuff before it was broadcast
This "feature" shows consistently through all recorded program listings in Recordings screen.
I have raised this before and I have seen others reporting it but as yet have found no solution, thought I would give it another try.
The problem is that occasionally after a random period of time the video will skip forward, often appearing to freeze during this time. These skips may be connected to minor glitches in the file caused by signal dropouts or cpu spikes when recording but generally speaking they play fine in other apps. Having played around with decoders (I'm now using SAF) I am as confident as I can be that it is not decoder connected, but seems related to the TS reader. The files are TS mux with mpeg video and audio.
Any help is welcome but I suspect what is required is that the TS Reader needs to be more fault tolerant.
