Problem automatic broadcast EPG update + DVB recording format
Posted by: Stargrove1 - 2009-11-23, 08:16 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

Hello,

I got two problems.

I have setup a tt1501 dvb-c card with broadcast dvb. I acivated the automatic epg update in the setup dialog, but the machine does not wake, but option is checked. Is there any additional setting to make?

And since I reinstalled the pvr with Win7, the pc records the dvb-c programm with the ending ts while under xp I recorded an .mpg file. Could I change that back? It seems that fast foreward is faster with mpg than ts (and my gilfriend uses ff very much :o) )

Thanks

  How to handle shared channels?
Posted by: daneo - 2009-11-23, 07:04 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi Everyone,

we have a couple of channels in Germany that "switch over" at certain times of the day from, for example, a kids channel to a documentary channel.

Is there any way of telling GBPVR that a certain channel is only available on the transponder from 06:00-21:00, and that during the rest of the time a different EPG source takes over?

Thanks,
Dane

  run-time error 75
Posted by: medic29 - 2009-11-23, 03:45 AM - Forum: ZTools and UltraXMLTV - Replies (6)

Back on the warpath with trying to get AVI's to play with an MVP. To those who replied before this will look somewhat familiar.

Currently I have a fresh GBPVR install up in W2K3 server, AVI's CAN play but there is a resolution issue (very blown up, elongated)

I try and install Ztools and follow the instructions on the wiki. Always asks for mencoder path (is that a problem?)
After completing the steps I try and play an AVI and at the same second I attempt to play the file a Run-time error 75 pops up on the PC screen.

I did see at least one posting about this, and the recommendation was to upgrade to some of the latest tools (beta build). Any of the following posts announcing a beta build of ztools have had the file references removed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Any Way To Watch Live Tv with GB-PVR?
Posted by: stevec5000 - 2009-11-22, 09:49 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

GB-PVR doesn't seem to recognize either my Pinnacle PCTV or ATI TV Wonder 600 tuners. Is there some way to get it to work with these? They both work with all the other programs I've tried except SageTV which won't work with the Pinnacle PCTV either.

Unhandled Exception when trying to use main app
Posted by: temporos - 2009-11-22, 09:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Windows XP did an auto-update today, and since then, I receive an error from GB-PVR when I attempt to use the TV guide, watch live TV, or record a program. The error is System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException, and can be found numerous times in the attached logs. It claims that there is a missing directory in the GB-PVR application folder.

After closing the error window, the application crashes, and the only way to get rid of it is to kill it using the Windows Task Manager.

I've included a screenshot of the error, in case it's helpful. Thanks a lot, Windows...

  hi-def box question
Posted by: rstewartmailacct - 2009-11-22, 07:52 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi all,

I think I know the answer to this but though I would ask anyway. If I pay for hi-def service with Charter do I still have to use their box to get channels like ESPN etc. In other words would all of the hi-def channels then be like clear QAM or does their box actually descramble the channel?

Thanks

  No Console Setting for WizMetadataGrabber
Posted by: JavaWiz - 2009-11-22, 06:42 PM - Forum: SearchWiz & MovieWiz - Replies (5)

This thread is picked up from one in the XSuite category...

JKSmurf, sorry this has taken so long to get back to. Between my job and life in general, I find there is not enough time to keep up with all of this....

Try this version of WizMetadataGrabber. I've added a /noconsole parameter (must be 1st parm). The log messages should still be written, you just won't see any feedback on the console window...

  Refurbished/Off Lease PCs
Posted by: 235301 - 2009-11-22, 05:38 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (22)

I am thinking about building another PC based DVR. I am having trouble justifying the cost vs say TIVO or a cable DVR if I have to build a new machine. I am trying to find refurbished or off lease machines as a way of keeping the cost down. Does anyone have any recommendations for off-lease/refurbs? Note: I am in the US.

Thanks!

  Cyberlink PDVD9-SAF - FilterMerits/Config
Posted by: dennit - 2009-11-22, 05:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I recently installed SAF unlocked and set my MPEG2 Video Decoder on the playback tab of Config to
Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9) as recommended. It wouldn't play my DVR-MS files. No errors in logs. It would just stay black screen, then return to the recordings menu. I checked in GraphStudio, and it played the same files fine with the same filters, including Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9).

Testing further, I tried those files with the Video Decoder on the playback tab of Config set to System Default. It chose ffdshow and played fine. Then I changed the filter merit of Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9) to higher than ffdshow, left the Video Decoder set to System Default, and it played fine! (Logs confirm GBPVR was using PDVD9.) Then I reset the Video Decoder to Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9) and it refused to play again.

Bottom line, it refuses to play the file with the Video Decoder set to Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9), but will happily play the file with that filter using it through System Default, provided its merit is highest.

Why? Does anyone know the difference between these two methods of using the same filter?

I have several PDVD filters (6.x and 7 as well as 9) Does that have any effect? I could remove some to find out, but I hate to do that.

Related questions:

Do I care if I use ffdshow or PDVD9? I can reset the merits and use System Default. What are relative advantages/disadvantages (Why does SAF recommend its use - DXVA?)

Alternatively, is there any reason why I shouldn't leave the merit of PDVD9 set highest and continue with it set to System Default?

Thanks for any enlightenment!
