I tried to install version 1.4.7 on a Windows 7 x64 PC. I had version 1.4.7 installed previiously but it was acting funny. I had deleted the installation of GBPVR and its directory.
When I tried to install it, it goes through most of the process and then rolls back files and has an error screen that says simply "Installation Ended Prematurely Because of an Error" and I can't find any error logs with any detail about what the error was.
For better or worse before I tried to install GBPVR I ran VCREDIST_x86. Did this mess me up?
Using lates gbpvr i just want it to play dvd files, mpg files, show pics and play mp3 files.
Most of it functions Ok. I use a cheap remote control together with eventghost to send commands to gbpvr.
sometimes, with some dvd's this works OK, but often it does not. It just seems that, when playing, al input is cut off, remote as well as keyboard. The only thing in this case what I can do is useing ctrl alt del or (when explorer is running) the other keycombinations which are captured by the OS itselves.
Does anyone could have an idea of what's wrong here? playback is set to VMR9 custom, and al other dropdowns to ffdshow exept the lowest 2 which only have system default as option.
Also, how can I make gbpvr jump to the dvd menu first, before playing a movie?
can't seem to pick up many channels on ny HVR-1300 - usb nova-t stick shows much more from the same aerial amp/splitter.
the hauppauge scanner picks them up (below) as does windows media center. if i enter 801834kHz in a manual scan, the config app stops responding for awhile and goes nowhere..
I have an odd situation, it seems.
Some of my mp3s play fine in GBPVR (both at the pc and at the MVP), but some dont.
Comparing one to the other using MP3TagTools, everything looks the same (bitrate, format etc).. They all play fine in Winamp.
In GBPVR, the file appears to play, but I only get silence (occationally a very brief burst of noise).
I have one question to start with but as I go along there may be more.
I am just wondering if there is any way for me to display skin specific "@thumbnail" & "@streamtype" images?
I have tried putting a different VLC.png & VLC logo.png into my skin2\Blue-Retro-HV\_CoreImages directory but it still seems to display the image (I assume) from C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\media\RadioLogos?
Hello - I am unable to properly tune all the available channels (they work fine with the bundled software) with GBPVR - I am not sure if I am selecting the right video capture card from the capture setup section.
My card is - Pinnacle PCTV 800i PCI. OS - XP.
But amongst the many Pinnacles, the nearest is an 800e driver (which I have tried).
As of Nov 17, Comcast is now encrypting most channels in my area. No more clear-QAM.
I'd like to simply hook up the digital box they provided me to my PC and record off channel 3. But I'll need a device to have the PC change the channel. Questions:
Which devices should I be looking for?
Where should I get this device?
How will I know it works with this "PACE" brand box?
I'm running Windows XP, and I have three Hauppauge cards to choose from:

1250
PVR-150.
I did search for these answers, but got a lot of conflicting info.
OK I'm losing it The plugin says it has learned the digit codes -- I can see the blaster sending some of the digits to the STB as the display changes but it immediately pops back to the channel I started on. 1, 2 & 4 does not seem to register at all. Is there some other way I can get the blaster to send channel changes without resorting to HIP or IR server or the like. All the other remote functions work well enough just cant get it to change channels as it does not seem to be sending the codes it learned from my STB remote. I am hoping there is some way to set these in another way. I think that it is really not learning the keys at all.

Does the GB-PVR system tray service need to be active to execute a scheduled recording? I assume the recording service must be active, and the PVRX2 application does not need to be active.
I ask this, because the two services GBPVRRecordingService.exe and GBPVRTray.exe use 26 MB and 20 MB of RAM, respectively. A combined 46 MB is a rather large chunk of RAM to permanently sequester for the occasional scheduled recording. Yes, I could just start the services when I know I have a recording scheduled, but doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of scheduling it (I could just record it manually at that point)?
Just an idea I had last night. Often I have found in the support forum that some of us talk in terms that new or fairly new users are not sure about. I've had a look at the Wiki but don't see a 'Glossary' of terms.
My suggestion would be to have a Glossary section under the GBPVR Manual heading that people could head towards to give defined meanings to things such as 'MVP', 'NMT', 'QAM', 'Softcam', 'DVB' etc.
I've started a preliminary list but just wondered whether it is worth me pursuing or not.
If I get 10 positives from new/experienced (well any users!) I'll do more work!
