  Down load cahnnel maps
Posted by: robsch123 - 2009-11-14, 11:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Is there a source to download channel map for San Jose Comcast Digital? I get quite a few channels when I do a scan and it is a bit difficult to match them up with my EPG listing.

Thanks

Many thanks, hope this info might help someone
Posted by: cyberboblouth - 2009-11-14, 06:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi,

I have been using GBPVR for a few months now but only encountered problems recently and had to spend time searching the forum - many thanks for those who have posted suggestions to various issues that have also helped me.

Everything for me was perfect until I went to add a Satellite DVB-S2 card card to my 2x DVB-T setup. Then the fun began. I wanted to put down a few notes just in case they can help someone.

PCI Setup:

My board is uATX with 3x PCI and 1x PCI-E. The order of the cards has a definate impact on the scan channel success. Even now one of my DVB-T cards will miss "Yesturday" & "ITV4", I add these after (see next section). I also bought the extension board that gave me 2x extra PCI slots - while cards are detected and drivers installed I got no channels during scanning.

Scan channel caches:

The supplied WinTV7 found every channel for FreeSat plus a lot more, GBPVR did not even after scanning both Astra 2A/2B/2D & Eurobird. I found a post where someone had posted their scan cache minus all the tat channels. I referenced this against the Lyngsat website and made the changes where required and also added some channels that GBPVR did find but weren't in the cache I downloaded. ITV HD had already been added. After scanning with GBVPR I swapped out the scan cache contents with this altered file, now I only have the channels I am interested in and they all work. Just map them to XML EPG (where possible) and perfect. This is how I add my 2 missing channels to DVB-T card 1 in my system, info added from scan cache of the 2nd card that does see those channels.

I can post/send my scan cache files if required.

EPG:

Originally I used EPG from broadcast, no issues what so ever. With the DVB-S2 and the time taken to download EPG I moved to XML. For whatever reason, I am not special! Took me a good while to realise that you need to add as many channels as you are expecting to the grabber as possible as when you MAP channels this forms the left pane of the mapping screen. So even if you find a lot more channels when scanning, you can't MAP them and therefore view them. They can be added, but obvisouly will show no EPG data in the guide. The part where I struggled was that the list below the live preview window (actual found channels) had more channels than the far left pane (derived from XML EPG). i.e. For channel Zing I have no grabber from radio times, so it wont appear in the left pane what so ever even though I can preview it in the live window.

HD Playback

The H.264 codec I had was Arcsoft (instaled by WinTV7?) - BBC HD was OK but ITV HD stuttered. After lots of fiddling I have settled on he H.264 codec from PowerDVD 7.3 Deluxe. I have to set this as the H.264 codec but also choose the same PDVD 7.3 codec for standard mpeg2 playback (not H.264 though). If I choose another mpeg2 codec not from PDVD7.3 I get stutter on non-H.264 channels. With this setup I sometimes get choppy playback, even with mpeg2 standard TV but a system restart cures the problem. Not perfect I know, but then again I hard ever watch LIVE TV and even less HD LIVE TV.

CPU Usage

Just in case you want to know:

Arcsoft codec HD playback was 100% CPU
PDVD 7.3 SD TV is ~20%
PDVD 7.3 HD TV is ~50%

I need an upgrade to dual core and better graphics card but her indoors denies the cash!

I hope this benefits some people.

No EPG details for manually added channel
Posted by: cjn1962 - 2009-11-14, 03:46 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hello:

I subscribe to Schedules Direct and despite the fact that Channel 750 shows up in my provider's channel listing, it doesn't show up after an EPG update. So, I added the channel manually and can tune to it/schedule it successfully. However, that channel is void of any program listings. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

  Will this work?
Posted by: jackbulloch - 2009-11-14, 03:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I live in a house where I have broadband internet and cable tv through a local provider. I have a condo in another community where I intend on living on a part time basis. I am reluctant to pay for tv cable fees for both locations. What I would like to do is record tv programs at one location on my laptop then play them back at the condo location at a later date. The house has windows xp sp2 and my laptop is vista basic. I dont mind hooking the laptop up to the existing cable and then record and then bring it down to the condo. The laptop is a toshiba satellite with a D connection, S Video out and an express card 54mm connector. I am about to purchase a Hauppage digital media receiver model 1000 , a toshiba 500 gig portable hard drive and a hauupage wintv hvr 1500 notebook express card hdtv tuner video recorder media centre. Before I press the buy button does the equipment sound right? Will it work?

Problem with MVP and wireless router
Posted by: cjn1962 - 2009-11-14, 03:25 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

Hello:

I recently purchased a wireless MediaMVP and it has worked successfully with GBPRV when hardwired through it's ethernet port. However, it won't work wirelessly, and even though the setup indicates it has acquired an ip address, I receive the message "Cannot obtain an ip address." I have tried all of the suggestions I have found here (broadcast SSID, turn off firewall, disabled QoS, disabled wireless multimedia support). I am using a Linksys
WRT54G with DDWRT firmware. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

Help with Cinergy Hybrid Stick USB DVB-T Tuner
Posted by: daneo - 2009-11-14, 02:07 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I can't seem to get it working, even though the entry in BDA.ini looks good -- any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? The tuner is found, but I don't get a picture or channels when scanning in config.

My entry in BDA.INI:

Code:
[TerraTec Cinergy Hybrid Stick USB] TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T FILTER_TUNER=Cinergy Hybrid-Stick Digital Tuner FILTER_CAPTURE=Cinergy Hybrid-Stick Digital Capture PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0 PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport PIN_CAPTURE_IN=Input0 PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

  BBCi scan.cache entries
Posted by: BigMoose - 2009-11-14, 12:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Could some kind soul post their scan.cache entries for the BBCi streams on DVB-S? I've got around 8 of them but half of them seem to be music when I'm expecting sport and sometimes there's sport listed (e.g. live football scores) that I dont have the stream for. I did a full scan and took the entries that looked relevant so dunno what I missed.

  recording-dump.xml files
Posted by: skinnyguy - 2009-11-14, 05:27 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi,
Why are there several recording-dump.xml files like...
recording-dump.xml.1
recording-dump.xml.2
recording-dump.xml.3
Just want to understand this behavior. Is there some way to always have it append to the one and only recording-dump.xml file?

Also would be a good feature to allow to configure gbpvr to write the filename to include either the program subtitle, or program description. Right now, I search for recordings in the xml file, copy the description, then rename my file with the description from the recording-dump.xml file.

Weird HIP Problem: Beeps but no channel change..
Posted by: ga_mueller - 2009-11-14, 02:01 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

After having HIP and net2hipsend working perfectly for several weeks to change our stb channels, I did some major mucking around trying to get an ASTC stick to work on my wimpy hardware.

Afterwards, HIP was broken. It errored out, with some weird memory access message. I uninstalled/reinstalled HIP, relearned the remote codes, checked the config, all OK. When I do a test blast, I get a "chirp" from my system, but no blast (and no, I don't have my speakers hooked to the IR blaster port Smile)

Just curious if anyone has seen (or heard) this, or have any suggestions on how I might proceed.

Thanks!
