Would it be possible to get a sub forum organised, and perhaps even a programmic change to GBPVR, to make it easier to find satellite channels through user updated catalogues?
To make my idea more clear, I'd love to have a system whereby periodically I can just download a file from the forum named, say "Freesat_UK.sat", that would setup GBPVR's Freesat Tuning requests and assign the correct channel numbers. Whenever mappings change, a kind user can update his profile and upload the new definitions to the community. Perhaps a function on the tuning screen to, instead of scan from channels, to import tuning requests from a file??
Now to me this seems very obvious in that it'll save countless hours and headaches doing manual scans and channel mappings, but I'm guessing the fact it hasn't been done is because it's very difficult to programme?? Any thoughts?
I've just installed GBPVR 1.4.7 on an XP Pro box with a Tevion DVB-T 100. Thanks for the excellent guides. GBPVR picks up the card, does a channel scan and gets the EPG fine. Live TV gives me audio but no video. Live preview is enabled. Any ideas? Do I need to have DirectX installed?
Card works fine as I have also installed latest Kworld drivers and software which work but the software is a bit rubbish.
I was connected to my new flat panel TV, trying to iron out some kinks about changing resolution. PVRx2 was not loaded at the time, although the recording service was running as always.
When I changed to 1080p, I got a blue screen and had to restart. After restarting, nothing related to GBPVR would run any longer; not the config program, not PVRx2 and not the recording service. I calmly (for a change) restarted the computer to no avail, then upgraded to version 1.4.7 (which I wanted to do anyway). I did install the Visual C++ runtime upgrade as advised on the website.
However, even after another restart, none of the GB-related programs or services will start; they simply dump out of memory with the standard Windows complaint and offer to report the problem.
I don't think there's any point in attaching logs, as the software is unable to run to generate any. Needless to say, this is very distressing, and I am anxious to hear from anyone who finds this problem familiar.
I am currently running GB-PVR v1.4.7 with a Hauppauge HVR-1600 using the HVR-1600 BDA recording plugin. I am recording local over-the-air digital broadcasts and all channels have good signal strength. Recently, attempts to record from two of the available channels result in zero length files. Nothing appears to crash or hang. The recording service starts and stops recording at the scheduled times, but the resulting file is empty (zero length). The remaining channels all record just fine. What seems a bit inconsistent is that all channels work just fine when viewing live broadcasts. However, attempting to pause the problematic channels fails (big surprise). The problematic channels are 31.1 and 43.1. The contents of my SCAN-1.cache are shown below:
It may be useful to know that I have been using GB-PVR on the same hardware for about a year and a half now and until fairly recently, all channels recorded without problems. About two months ago I updated GB-PVR to v1.4.7 from v1.2.13 and it appears this is approximately when the problem began occurring. However, it is not clear that the GB-PVR version upgrade is the source of the difficulty. As I recall, I updated GB-PVR because I was having problems re-scanning channels. Over the past few months a number of local over-the-air broadcast signals have âmovedâ. I believe these changes are occurring to make the more efficient use of the allocated TV spectrum now that former analog broadcasts have been discontinued. At any rate, I suspect that my problems have something to do with a change in the way these two channels are encoded or broadcast. Any help that could be provided in correcting this problem would be greatly appreciated.
I have included my log files in the attached zip archive.
I have a PDTV002 dual DVB-t pci card which does not appear in the selection list. The card works fine in XP's media centre, J Rivers media centre, and Mediaportal on XP. However I am running vista at the moment and mediaportal does not support it.
I would like to try GB-PVR but I need help working out how to use it with my card. I have read the wiki on adding an unsupported card but I cant make any sense out of it. I have looked at Graphedit as described but I cant see the relevant info. The 2 receiver and tuner entries are there but I cant make sense of them. I could grab a screen shot of the output from graphedit if that would help.
When I'm playing music I set the volume with the remote as I don't like to alter the volume on the TV which is set for playing back recordings, but when using my NMT it doesn't seem to stay at the level I set it at between tracks & jumps back to bloody loud after the first track, this didn't seem to happen when I was using the MVP's, is this just one of those things or something wrong with my setup or.......??
I have recently discovered that my gb-pvr is no longer playing DVD movies. When I select DVD it will briefly read the DVD, or sometimes won't even do that, and I get only a black screen. I can exit back to the menu but DVDs will not play. I know it has worked in the past but I guess I have changed something for the worse. I tried installing WinDVD to give it another option for playback codec but this didn't help. Logs are attached, I greatly appreciate any help you can offer, I really don't want to totally reinstall the program because everything else works great!
Here's an oddity: I've got four copies of the AC3 icons in my system tray, and two ffdshow audio decoder icons. Are there actually that many running? What's going on?
Hi,
I have 2 totally different gb pvr installs on 2 different PC's
I went to watch BBC HD on one of them tonight and after about 2 mins gb pvr crashed
I then restored a backup image of the PC incase something got knackered some how , was no different
I then went to my other PC and tried BBC HD again and it to also crashed after about 1-2 mins
