After Upgrade: Capture Source Freezes PVRX
Posted by: Takkun - 2009-10-23, 03:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (15)

Upgraded to 1.4.7. Now GBPVR and my TV Card wont play nice anymore!
I can watch all previously-recorded episodes just fine.

I initially had identical problems with the upgrade so I uninstalled it, cleaned out the folder of all files (I have backups), and installed a fresh copy.

Symptoms:

 1. LiveTV: Black Screen / no audio / PVRX Freezes and I need to Ctrl+Alt+Del it away.
 2. Recordings: (around or Less than 100 KB) videos for anything (including livetv) that records. Additionally, once finished, I get no file in any show's directory.
 3. The Recording File: After killing PVRX after a Freeze, the Recording Service doesn't want to give up the file it was working on; even after stopping it and the tray shows white (but it says it's still recording). Eventually, it will let go (either through my killing of it's processes, restarting it's processes, or time elapsing) and the tray will return to "sleeping" mode. The Config app cant save it's settings and freezes also, unless that file is released. Just complete weirdness really.

TV Card: Analog - Hauppauge PVR 150MCE
Live Preview: Tried ON + Encoder Pass-Through & tried it OFF with no difference.
Codecs: Found and download the mpeg decoder (Mpeg-blabla.ax) and installed it. No difference. Other then that, I only have ffdshow on my system (worked perfectly with 1.3x).

My last version I used was gbpvr 1.3.11 and that worked great. So much for improvements, I might have to move back. What a pain.

Edit: Added (failed) Recording of Dr Who. FYI, My logs are with Live Preview Disabled. I'll enable it tonight and should have something by tomorrow.
Edit 2: I also find it odd I have no video-transcoding options whenever I add a recording.
Edit 3: Added my config file & logs_afterRecLateLateShow.zip that has "Live Preview w/ Encoder pass-through" ON. Apparently it also tried to record 2 Family Guy episodes.

SOLVED: The timing was quite the coincidence but the problem was my drivers, even though the device manager thought everything was fine. I downloaded WinTV and installed the drivers that came with it and everything was good; detailed in my last post.

  AnyDVD and GBPVR
Posted by: scb147 - 2009-10-23, 01:09 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I am wondering how some people deal with AnyDVD and GBPVR.

Sometimes, AnyDVD can take up to 3-4 minutes to decrypt a DVD, especially Disney DVDs.

My wife is not very patient and always selects DVD before AnyDVD has decrypted, so the DVD tray ejects.

How do some of you handle this? The WAF is low with this because she doesn't understand she needs to wait 5 minutes after she inserts a DVD before she ca try playing it.

Thanks for any pointers.

2 tuners, OTA digital and analog
Posted by: mrothwell - 2009-10-22, 10:02 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I'm trying to setup my system to use a PVR-150 set on channel 3 to record the output from my satellite receiver, and I have an HD-950 to record OTA digital channels (north America). The PVR-150 is working fine to record or watch whatever is on the sat receiver, but how do I set it up to view the digital channels using the other tuner?

2nd question is: how do I get the PVR-150 to change the channel on the Sat box when needed? How does GBPVR know when to use the HD tuner vs the analog tuner?

I am running version: 1.4.7

  Hauppage HVR-1900 analog tuner?
Posted by: pgbpvr - 2009-10-22, 09:02 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hello everyone,

Well, I just returned my broken hauppage pvr-usb2 to the store (very nice customer service from portuguese inforlandia, full refund, including delivery, they deserve this small publicity Wink

So, I'm now considering the Hauppage HVR-1900, I think I can order from the german site...

Question is, just to make sure, the analog part works with gbpvr, right? I saw the HVR-1950 in the supported list and looks like it's a US/ntsc version of the HVR-1900.

Thanks for your input.
Pedro.

Is it ok to copy the gbpvr database and config.xml from a Windows XP system to a Windows 7 system? Just wondering if there's anything driver or o/s specific in there?

Wizmetadatagrabber can't find info in some cases
Posted by: 7ore - 2009-10-22, 05:58 PM - Forum: SearchWiz & MovieWiz - Replies (3)

I have tried to solve this problem in a couple of ways, but I havn't found a reliable solution yet.

Problem is that the search functionality on thetvdb could have been better.
Example: I have downloaded the Castle show. But when wizmetadatagrabber do a search I get data from an old show about different castles around Britain(?). The problem originates in the fact that the files is named as: castle.2009.S01E01.yadayada.avi. Usually I use the Command-line tool, but if I search manually, I can rename the title to: Castle.(2009)... and voíla I get correct info.

I have tried to create some script that renames the files automatically. but I have not found one that can handle the "()" (or something).

Is there someone that knows how to create a script that can handle renaming like this? Python, perl or dos. And that I can use for other files as well.

Or: maybe a xml-file that wizmetadatagrabber reads and use for the search (the renaming of files is just to get correct data, anyway)
the xml-file could have either the correct name or the tvdb show Id (83462 for Castle). Roughly like the language translation xml...
No real need for a UI to edit this.

Posted by: spotty - 2009-10-22, 01:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi,
I have the 'ATI Mpeg video decoder' installed and selected and it works well for playback of video files and live tv, but when i try to select it (in the config utility) for DVD playback it isn't on the list.
Is there a reason for this?
thanks

Posted by: McBainUK - 2009-10-22, 06:30 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (22)

I skipped vista and wil be going straight to Windows7 for my HTPC use only machine.

2 questions:

UAC on or off?
Auto Windows Update n or off?

I'm thinking off for both to give me more control. Will I be mising out or at risk?
