After a good two years I was watching my recordings from the UK and seeing all these adverts to say freeview needs rescanning so I thought it might give me better reception / quality if I re-tune.
Anyway the long and the short of it is, when I go into the channels which have up to now rescanned fine I got the message "Failed to locate BDA device".

What is odd is that my Nova-T USB shows up fine, the settings are there from when it did work still. [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]
What I have tried is updating to the latest version (1.4.7), updating the runtime, updating the drivers and the WinTV. It works and scans fine in WINTV, loads first time but seems to be having an issue in GBPVR. I''m not aware that it's failing in the recordings yet but would like to find out what's causing it as I fear it means errors soon.
If it helps it did the same thing in the previous version too.

How do you config the record bitrate for the HDPVR? GBPVR seems to be using a lower bit rate than what I using when recording with TME. I think I would like to raise it a little to improve the recording quality.
Hi, I recently bought a Hauppauge TD-500, so decided to try some third-party software as WinTV seemed very slow.
So I have installed the latest release and followed the guide for DVB Tuner setup. I completed the configuration successfully and saw that the scan had picked up a decent number of channels. Something didn't seem right when I updated the EPG though; the guide stated that it may take a while, but it took merely a few seconds and then closed. I didn't see any EPG data and didn't see a list of channels.
My problem is that in the PVRX2 program I am unable to click on TV Guide or Live TV. All other functions seems to work (settings etc).
I ran pvrx2.exe -updateepgonly. The log is attached.
I have to admit I was a little shocked at how easy this was to setup. I had a bit of an issue with it not being shipped with any apps on it. But the recent update on 10/19 fixed that.
Now everything appears to be working.
I do have one question though. My TV is a older Sony CRT that supports HD, but is a 4:3 format. I originally configured everything for 720p, to change that to NTSC is it going to be just a matter of changing the PCH format, uncomment the rigth line in the startmeup file, and modify the NMT entry in the config.xml?
I have lcd tv with hdmi input and you are meant to be able to use analog audio but the problem is the video card has dvi output only.
But when you use an adapter the tv gets a false signal so it cuts off the analog connection

If none of the measures described above helped you to get your screen picture and analog audio the way you want them to look and sound, it's time to resort to EDID spoofing. Also, if you are an experienced Windows XP / Vista / 7 user, it should be easier for you to fiddle with the registry than with the cables and adapters.
EDID spoofing means that you are about to deceive your graphics card into thinking that your TV panel uses only DVI connection and has no HDMI capability. You may get some of your display settings screwn. Or not. Really depends on the system, but more often you get away with it than not. There's always a way to undo the changes.
Here's the instruction (don't ask me why it should be done this way and not another - it just works and that's ok).
The instructions below are given for Windows XP 64-bit, but there's little difference between its registry structure and what you'll see in Vista / Win7.
1. Shut down the system, disconnect all the displays except the TV panel (use a digital connection: DVI->HDMI, DVI->DVI or HDMI->DVI)
2. Boot up and get the Monitor Asset Manager: [LINK]
3. Run it and look into the upper left window as seen in the picture: [LINK]
4. One of the entries should be marked as 'real-time', not 'registry'. That's the display that you are currently using. Select it.
5. In the 'Raw Data' window, copy the first four bytes (symbol pairs) from the second row, as seen in the picture: [LINK]
6. Now it's time to make up the magic spell. Paste these symbol pairs, e.g. 4C 2D C4 03 in a text document. Then add the following symbols: 00 00 FF FF 04 00 00 00 7E 01 00. In my case, the spell looks like 4C 2D C4 03 00 00 FF FF 04 00 00 00 7E 01 00. Obviously, the first four bytes (shown in red) will vary depending on the model of your TV panel.
7. Press Start, choose Run, type Regedit and press enter. Here you go, you're in Windows Registry.
8. Let's see where Nvidia graphics adapter settings are stored. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\
9. Inside \Video\ you will see one or more folders named like {########-####-####-####-############}. Each folder corresponds to a different GPU found in your system. Cards with 2 GPUs will get you two folders per card, the same goes to SLI setups. So a triple-SLI setup of GTX 295 cards should result in six different folders there.
10. It's hard to tell which folder corresponds to the GPU that actually drives your TV panel if there are two or more folders there. So let's make each and every GPU forget to use HDMI connection with this particular type of display and emulate a DVI link instead. None other displays will be affected as long as they are of a different model. And if they are of the same model, you'd want to fix the missing analog audio for them, too. (Honestly, I can hardly image a guy with two or three widescreen TVs hooked to the same PC in the same room)
11. Inside each folder named like {########-####-####-####-############} you will see a folder titled 0000. Open it and behold a crap load of application-specific parameters. Scroll the list to the very bottom, right-click on it and do Edit / New / Binary Value. You'll get an empty binary value at the bottom of the long list.
12. Rename the New Binary Value into OverrideEdidFlags0 (no typos please or won't work!). Right-click on it and choose Edit Binary Value. In the opened window, type your spell, e.g. 4C 2D C4 03 00 00 FF FF 04 00 00 00 7E 01 00. That's how it likes when if done properly: [LINK]
13. Apply the same procedure to each folder titled like {########-####-####-####-############} inside \Video\
14. Reboot and enjoy your analog audio
15. If the analog sound isn't back, send for the witch doctor. But most likely you did something wrong - misspelled the spell or tinkered in a wrong registry folder.
16. To undo the changes simply kill all these newly created OverrideEdidFlags0 parameters and reboot.
17. If you lose your analog audio again after reinstalling or updating video drivers, repeat the whole ritual.
This new card has been nothing but trouble. First it was endless VPU Recover errors (which I think are fixed by more power) and now its an infinite loop of death error.
In a computer with an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (2.09 GHz, 1GB RAM,) I recently installed an Asus AH 3450-512MB-AGP (ATI Radeon HD 3450) card for its HDMI out. When I start the computer, everything appears fine. The screen appears on the TV beautifully, I can run (almost) any program, play videos through WMP 11, run Internet Explorer, etc., but when I start GB-PVR (1.4.7,) the fun begins. The menu shows up but as soon as I try to access Live TV or TV Guide, the CPU use goes to 100%, the screen flickers a few times, then I get a green screen telling me the ati2dvag driver was caught in an infinite loop and the computer is frozen. The only option is to press the power button to turn off the computer and again to turn it on.
I have updated drivers, tried various releases of ATI CCC, installed the AGP hotfix, and more. Anyone else seen this problem or have suggestions?
My upgrade to 1.4.7 has been mostly smooth, but I have an issue when recording with BDA multiplexer set to: Microsoft DVR-MS mux. I have been using this mux successfully with previous GBPVR versions.
After installing 1.4.7 the scheduled recordings using the dvr-ms mux start and stop when expected, but only a 6KB dvr-ms file is created. This happens on all channels.
I can watch dvr-ms created by previous versions, watch live TV, watch DVD's and record with the TS Mux without difficulties.
I've used the dvr-ms mux because it is the only one that gives flies that I can quickly FF/Rew through while seeing frames from the file. The TS files created when using the TS Mux only display a frame after a brief pause. This makes it difficult to move through the file and know where you are in the recording.
Currently the only mux I can get to record is "TS Mux". The other mux's all exhibit similar behavior as DVR-MS mux. Mux Checker gives the following output. [INDENT]
