Netflix watch now: known working at the moment?
Posted by: toomanyhandles - 2009-10-18, 08:39 AM - Forum: Netflix Watch Now - Replies (1)

Sorry, just confirming. The author postings definitely indicate WIP but some people seem to have this running?

I have the same issue here as perhaps the item mentioned in "troubleshooting", crash on selecting the plugin from the main menu. It's the same error text, where the fix is to start config, change to windowed mode, run PVRX2 windowed, depart with the exit item, change back to non-windowed.

I have done all that several times, and changed from internal player to silverlining and back, no change.

XP here, clean install of 1.4.7, using blue, I'm just loading a few plugins now. IE has my login cookie for netflix.

Thanks!

  Analog->dvb-c,mvp->nmt upgrade. Recommendations?
Posted by: caz - 2009-10-18, 02:31 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Hi guys

After running a gbvpr setup with 4 analog tuners and 3 MVP's for over 5 years I think I'm finally ready to take the plunge and go digital.
It is a bit of an investment, so perhaps some of you could help me settle which hardware to get ... The system is almost solely used for playback of recordings and occasional live tv. I plan to get at least 3 dvb-c tuners and 2-3 clients.

My server only has 2 PCI slots, and I will probably keep one PVR-500 in there for legacy purposes, so ideally im looking for good value USB dvb-c tuners(I don't need CAM support). Any recommendations?

As for the clients I am looking at the PCH A-110. The lack of dvb subtitle support has been a bit of a showstopper for me, but it seems it should be possible to add hardwired subtitles using postprocessing.bat - a workaround I can live with. Is the A-110 still the way to go or are there better options out there? I read somewhere that there are other NMT's that apparently support dvb subtitles, however, I have not been able to find a thread that confirms this ...?

I did my homework and checked whether the things that matters the most to me will work with this setup and the A-110. The things listed below are my primary concerns - please let me know if there's issues:

- Working comskip.
- Working time skip (If ff/fr also works that would cool too)
- Stable client operation over .n wireless (I will be using the same .n bridges as I am currently using for the MVP's)

Thanks a lot,

Casper

Colour spaces, picture quality - Nvidia cards
Posted by: Pob - 2009-10-18, 01:08 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Having installed the latest Nvidia drivers, I am struggling to get the picture quality as good as it was before installing themSad I wondered what settings others use, as I want to make sure they are correct before I start calibrating the TV.
Previously I had my 8800GT outputting YCbCr444 to my Toshiba XV37 LCD - and all other options left at 'video player settings'- picture was fine.
But with the latest driver the same setting resulted in a muddy looking picture. The best I have managed to get is by setting the desktop to RGB, and in video settings selecting the dynamic range to limited (16-235). Although I have read a lot about colour spaces, black crush, whiter-than-white etc it just gives me a headache! At about the same time as installing the new drivers I also switched to PowerDVD decoder for my H264 TV, and using DXVA which means all colour / brightness changes have to be done in the Nvidia control panel. Also confuses things because I believe PDVD expands all video to 0-255, assuming I guess that everyone uses a monitor and not a TV.
So what is proper - RGB or YCbCr444, 0-255 dynamic range or 16-235?

Is good TV tuner card important if connecting STB via s-video?
Posted by: qqq123 - 2009-10-18, 12:54 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

If I connect my STB to a TV tuner via s-video, that means the STB is doing the tuning, right? So, do I even need a TV tuner card? What is the cheapest thing I could get that works with GBPVR if I'm using the STB to do the tuning?

A few questions about Hauppauge 1250
Posted by: qqq123 - 2009-10-18, 12:50 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Hi all. So here's the thing:

I have Verizon FIOS, so I need a STB to get ANY cable channel.

My plan is to get a Hauppauge 1250 and connect my STB to it via s-video. This will be to record SD. I will then get an antenna for the coax input on the Hauppauge 1250 and use it to record OTA HD. I hope to be able to record both SD and HD at the same time. Is this even possible?

Also, when I connect my STB to the Hauppauge 1250 via s-video, will GBPVR be able to get the tv guide data (when shows are airing)? This is, obviously, vital to be able to schedule recordings.

Dual HVR-1600s or go to a single HVR-2250?
Posted by: KS4UA - 2009-10-17, 11:20 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (9)

I've got one HVR-1600 that is working good under Windows 7 (x86) RC.

My trusty, yet crusty, PVR-250 still works fine, but it doesn't look like it's going to make the jump to Win 7 because of the well-known driver problems.

Yet I really would like dual analog tuners (at least) for all the obvious benefits.

My current motherboard has two empty PCI slots and two empty PCI-E x 1 slots.

I am in a quandry deciding between adding a second HVR-1600 or ditching this tuner and switching over to the newer HVR-2250 instead.

Is anyone running dual HVR-1600s under Windows 7 with success?

Anyone who has, or had, the dual HVR-1600s and the HVR-2250 care to comment on which setup they preferred?

Thanks!

pvrx2 crashing when watching live tv
Posted by: hb129 - 2009-10-17, 10:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

hi there,

i'm using an hauppauge wintv nova t usb2 with gbpvr on xp.

it keeps crashing a few minutes after watching live tv. if i try and restart pvrx2, it sayd there is no free device to view tv.

i can watch channels constantly through the mappings screen in config and it never crashes. not an ideal workaround.

i've attached a zip of the logs folder, i've got my fingers crossed someone can help.

  ICL not displaying listings
Posted by: Kid_Ego5150 - 2009-10-17, 09:59 PM - Forum: International Cinema Listings, RSS Reader, WebCams, Calendar, Files and Screen Saver - Replies (11)

I've done a fresh install of v8.0.7 following the wiki's instructions and when I refresh the listings I see space in the plugin's main menu for where the cinemas should be listed (see attached jpeg) but the refresh has returned no listings. The process takes only a few moments to refresh so I know it's not pulling any data. Checked the files as well and none of the trailers have been downloaded either. I'm using the standard Blue skin so there shouldn't be any complications with that. I've got my listings set up using Google Movies on the IMDB config line. I've also tried just using the standard 4 or 5 digit cinema id on IMDB and still have the same response. I'm completely stumped. I've attached the CinemaPluginUpdate log if anyone needs to see it along with a screen grab of what the menu looks like after the refresh. I use this plugin more than anything else so any help to get it back up and running is greatly appreciated.

  Leadtek WinFast DV2000
Posted by: lnk - 2009-10-17, 08:26 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (11)

Hi,

I can't run gbpvr to work with Leadtek WinFast DV2000. Is there any possibility to make it work?

This TV Tuner is not listed in supported cards but seems to be compatible with gbpvr
