Posted by: garymeds - 2009-10-16, 07:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

hi - not sure if this is a 1.4.7 issue but i can't remember seeing it in the prev version (have rebuilt pc in between versions)..

when i choose - record series all episodes on this channel, extra programmes are selected. eg, i set Life on BB1 to record and a program name Lifeline is added. Similarly, Coronation Street also adds Coronation Street Omnibus...

Appreciate anyones time/input - have searched and not found anything..

  Auto Delete Missing Recordings
Posted by: srhutch - 2009-10-16, 07:25 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Would it be possible to add a tick box the the MISC screen in the config app to change the setting for AutoRemoveMissingRecordings

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>false</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>

I generally have this set to off so that if cutting pre and post recording padding creates a new file the recording doesnt get lost from the DB when renaming.

I switch is on when after moving files around and run vidimport to tidy up.

Just a thought.

  Problems Deleting Recordings/Resuming from Client
Posted by: tjb - 2009-10-16, 02:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

I have a server setup with GBPvr with two clients, one is an HTPC and the other is a PCH. On the HTPC I have noticed several problems:

1) When viewing a recording and stopping in the middle, the current location in the file is not saved, and therefore, resume does not work.

2) Deleting a recording from the HTPC client seldom works. Generally, pvrx2.exe will hang and it needs to be killed and restarted. After the restart, trying to delete the recording "sometimes" appears to work, and the recording is removed from the database. However if I look on the server, the file most likely is still there. I don't believe it is a permissions problem because every once in awhile the file will actually get deleted.

3) The additional files (*.txt, *.edl) are not deleted even in the few cases where the recording itself was deleted.

These three issues all work correctly from the PCH. I can delete recordings and also resume recordings. Also, it I stop the playback of the recording from the PCH, resume then works from the HTPC.

  Slow Response to Remote Keypresses
Posted by: tjb - 2009-10-16, 02:47 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (2)

The response to keypresses from the remote control on the PCH is much slower than on a client PC. Not complaining, I just have a question. My PCH is connected via powerline adapters. Would the response be better if I was directly connected at 100Mbps via an ethernet cable, or is the response speed an issue with the PCH itself?

My wife is impatient with the remote, and she tends to hit skip forward a second time (or third) before the first is completed. Occasionally when this happens, the recording resets and starts playing again from the beginning.

  Mvpmcx2 Dies Every Night after GBPvr 1.4.7
Posted by: tjb - 2009-10-16, 02:38 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (5)

Not a huge problem, but ever since I upgraded my server to GBPvr version 1.4.7, mvpmcx2 dies every night. Not sure what time this happens. In the morning the PCH is back to the standard screen, and I simply have to restart the process. I thought it might have something to do with the epg update which originally ran at 2:00 AM, but I changed this to run at 7:00PM and it still stops running every night. I should mention that the PCH has a hard drive, so I installed mvpmcx2 using the CSI installer and have updated 1.4.7 with all patches using NMTInstall.

On a side note, and it may or may not be related. But I also have an HTPC client that is set to go into standby whenever it is not in use. The client was also updated to 1.4.7. Since the update, GBPvr seems to have more problems coming out of standby. It used to take only a couple seconds and the screen was refreshed. But now it takes much longer - I get a black screen with no display. Sometimes it takes so long that I just end up killing the pvrx2.exe process and restarting it (which always comes up immediately).

  Using Sky White Viewing Card (UK)
Posted by: srhutch - 2009-10-16, 02:29 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

OK guys, maybe this isnt the place to ask, but being a complete novice in the is area thought at least I might be able to confirm if GBPVR supports the use of Sky viewing cards or not.

I know I will need to obtain another white viewing card, and a card reader, but will the work with the Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-HD-S2 of which I have two in the server.

If anybody can help I would be very grateful

TIA Steve

  MCE2005 Remote With GBPVR
Posted by: ga_mueller - 2009-10-16, 06:28 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Hi All,

Noob here, who is just a hair from getting his GBPVR box running. My final issue is changing channels with a remote and DTA.

I have an MCE2005 remote with beanbag, and IR blaster, and I'm trying to get it to work with my Comcast Pace DC50x DTA. I've "learned" the channels with the plugin and remote, but don't get any channel changing. After STF's, I'm here wondering if anyone else has found a solution to this problem...

Regards, George

  PlayTV DVBT 400P - Australia - No Channels
Posted by: jnjc - 2009-10-16, 02:50 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi,

I have been banging my head against the wall for this for ages and getting nowhere. I have a PlayTV DVBT 400P tuner card installed on an XP MCE machine. Windows MCE sees all the channels fine, but I can't tune the channels on GBPVR.

Based on what I have found doing searches etc. I have made the following changes:

I have added the device to my bda.ini file as follows:

[PlayTV DVBT 400P 713x]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=713x BDA DVBT Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=713x BDA Digital Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

I have also changed my config.xml to read as follows:
<BDAUsePsiParser>false</BDAUsePsiParser>
<BDAPsiScanStartupSeconds>6</BDAPsiScanStartupSeconds>
<BDAPsiScanWaitSeconds>15</BDAPsiScanWaitSeconds

But when I use the config program to setup channels I don't get any known channels only a list of about 7 channels like 'Unknown1' etc...

If I select one of these channels nothing appears in the preview window.

Anybody know how I can move forward from here ?

Thanks,
JC

  vcredist install (uninstall of 2005 version) issues
Posted by: toomanyhandles - 2009-10-16, 02:43 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I thought this would be mentioned someplace but I don't see it.

the "new" vcredist file (downloaded from this site) will not install completely as the 2005 c++ version is in place and cannot be removed.

The 2005 version will not uninstall from add/remove as the original msi in /tmp can't be found.

I've googled the heck out of this, there are tons of hits about the issue, posts mentioning "download this no this no this" none of which work.

I tried downloading the version from the 1.3.7 announcement, but that as well is an exe not a .msi.

How the heck do I rip this darn 2005 version out completely?

XP sp3 here.

thanks! GVPVR 1.4.7 will not install as the new version of the vcredist isn't in place (the issue where the .ax files cause the install to break).

I'd be fine with a google link that actually worked. I've gone thru pages of "results".
