GBPVR 1.4.7 and MovieWiz with VIDEO_TS directories.
Posted by: kylebrophy - 2009-09-26, 11:57 AM - Forum: SearchWiz & MovieWiz - Replies (4)

Hey there,

I think ive found an issue (and also the workaround) with MovieWiz.

There is a new setting on the settings2 tab that treats the play button as a toggle for pause.

What ive found (and maybe this is isloated) - is that when i play a DVD image (i.e. files in a VIDEO_TS directory) -with the play toggle option enabled - the movie starts paused.
I was scratching my head for ages and actually accidentally found that if i pushed pause it would then function as normal from that point on (would happen everytime i played for each DVD image - not just the first time).

Today i suddenly clicked as to that toggle setting and wondered if there was a link. So i turned off that toggle setting.

woah and behold the DVD image directories now play as they have in the past - without the need to hit pause to kick them off.

Not sure why this is the case - but its what ive discovered with my particular install anyway.

FYI - im running 1.0.27 (the lastest?) of MovieWiz.

Please Help: Channel Changing Help/IR Recommendations
Posted by: usctrojan - 2009-09-26, 08:52 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

My setup:
GBPVR running on WHS server in closet
PCH near the TV
PC used to open shared folders for browsing files and viewing during testing

My remote setup is HIP+net2hipsend+MCE2005 IR blaster going from PC to a Comcast DTA (Digital Transport Adapter - their simple STB for basic analog tvs)

GBPVR seems to work fine and record scheduled programs and even send channel change commands but the channels are not changing (and of course the recordings are all some left over channel and useless).

I can view the gbpvr livetv from PCH fine though it stutters badly from the other PCs. I only need recordedings since I want to use gbpvr as a closet PVR.

If I can just get my channel changing working I will be set! It seemed to be working at first setup but it is very flaky. I tried different steps multiple times:

- HIP "Test IR" from remote desktop
- HIP web interface to send commands
- net2hipsend from command line
- PCH changing channels from mvpmcx2
- PCs running GBPVR in client mode changing channels

I have seen most of these methods work and change the channel one in a while but most of the time nothing works. I reboot, fiddle, restart GBPVR/HIP and some channel change from one of the trials works for one or two changes and then it stops working.

Sometimes even the basic HIP Testing IR blast does not work which is the first step to get everything working! I have read the HIP forums and the HipGuide too.

I only need channel changes from GBPVR to comcast STB working (not an remote). Anyone has any suggestions for reliable channel changes? Is there any know IR blaster method/thingIcanBuy that will work reliably always?

  TV Overlay not fullscreen
Posted by: Sentient - 2009-09-26, 02:01 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Previously my system was working perfectly - has been for quite some time. Recently I tried to play a Matroska file and realised I hadn't installed a filter for it... and being tired and lazy I installed a codec pack. Now everything is fubar Smile

I have fixed most of the problems caused by installing, and then uninstalling this pack but one remains. Although I'm not sure if its actually a codec problem or not.

When I play a .avi or other media, they are played full screen (stretched to the edges).

When I play live tv, I can see 'not-quite-blackness' of the overlay and it doesnt reach the edge of the screen. So I end up with a dark black edge on both sides, then a grey border (sides only) and then the image within that. It seems like GBPVR isnt creating the overlay the complete size of the screen (although it used to). Menus are the correct size.

Live TV source is from a Sky Decoder (set in 16:9) through a PVR150 analog/composite.
GBPVR is set to 16:9 as well (otherwise video media doesn't scale properly).
Using FFDShow for MPEG2 and all other formats - different MPEG2 decoder does not make any difference.

Only info I could find in the logs that seemed relevant below:

Where can I read about graphs and codecs?
Posted by: pvr_noob - 2009-09-26, 12:38 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi,

I've recently set up a media centre PC and am really happy with gbpvr. I have a few questions, but the most pressing one is: Where can I read about graphs and codecs? It seems like there are many solutions available when it comes to codecs (SAF, K-lite etc) but I don't entirely understand the reasoning behind those packages, or how they really work. I also have no idea what a graph is, and how to use it to my advantage. I would like to understand those things so I can fiddle with my media centre without sending it to "codec hell".

It seems like the concept of graphs are thrown around a lot, but aside from the DirectShow wikipedia entry, I don't really know anything about them.

New play pause toggle and comskip
Posted by: soccerdad - 2009-09-26, 12:08 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Just to help someone else that may have this problem. The new version has a toggle to have the play button toggle between play and pause. By default this is set on so if you use comskip it will pause instead of skip. Just uncheck the box in the misc tab in config and you are good to go.

  Weather 2 nearly
Posted by: steeb - 2009-09-25, 11:16 PM - Forum: Weather / Weather2 - Replies (16)

Hi,

have to start by thanking the Author for a re-working of the weather plugin.

It works really good and has much better options than the old plugin for my locality.

My problems:

It lists itself as 'Weather2' in my main menu. There used to be a workaround for re-naming plugins but I don't think this exists anymore? My point! If I ditch old plugin I would like this to appear as 'Weather' not 'Weather2' in main menu, after all why 'Weather2' if it is only the single entry for Weather?

My 2nd problem follows the 1st, this now appears to be the only plugin listed for Weather in the Wiki for GBPVR 1.4.7. Don't need the '2' appended if it is now the only supported plugin???!!!

Edit - Actually just been to Wiki again and suspect this is because original Weather has not been updated to list with 1.4.7.

Cheers

Steeb

Webgrab no longer working, no EPG! mc2xml?
Posted by: ericbiermann - 2009-09-25, 08:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Since a week or so, the webgrab utility by Paul .... of servercare.nl is no longer working. His site is down as well, while he was always really quick in updating the program whenever tvgids.nl changed their layout.

besides thinking what could have happened to Paul, I am without an EPG now. I have been searching for others, but Amontillado's site is down as well.

stumbled into mc2xml. looks promising, but I don't get dutch channels so far. Used -c nl -g 1000 and tried downloading channels 1-2. Returned 1 german channel.

anyone -in the netherlands- that has similar issues and can help me out?

  No audio in recordings
Posted by: gonzo90017 - 2009-09-25, 08:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

I'm having a couple of issues:

1. When watching live tv I get audio. But when I start recording the audio seems to turn off. I play the recording and doesn't have any audio either.
My pc is hooked up to my monitor through HDMI which is also how I get my audio.

2. What are the system requirements to run GBPVR?
Whenever I bring up the mini guide Live TV starts to stutter. I would think I have more than enough to run
GBPVR without any issues? I don't have any processes running in the background, not even an anti-virus (i do manual scans once in a while).
What can I do to improve performance. I haven't insatlled any plugins. However I am using the Community-WS skin. Might that have something to do with it?

Should I go Comcast Cable or DirectTV at my new place.
Posted by: mkenyon2 - 2009-09-25, 07:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I'm not too concerned w/ programming selection... they'll both give me what I want to watch. I'm concerned about tuning.

I'll have 3 Hauppauge NTSC tuners (1 PVR 150, and 1 PVR 500). Right now the PVR 150 is pulling channels off the standard cable and I'm happy. I tried using the digital box from Comcast, but channel changing didn't always happen correctly, and I never played with it enough to get it working.

With Comcast, I know that (for now) I can just tie the cable into a splitter and get three feeds, one for each tuner.

With DirectTV, I'll need 3 boxes, right?

What would you choose? (Let's say for sake of argument, that I can get bundles of equal cost and channel line-ups from either.)

So after a crash and restart of my htpc,
my the heights of the items in the menu doubled.

Took a spin around the config, and the forum and could not find anything related.
Help would be very much appreciated.
