Scan crash ans new scan window size
Posted by: #66 - 2009-09-22, 09:25 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

The new scanning window doesn't fit my ancient 4:3 TV!

I'm now back trying my Sat card on Thor. However It crashes the scan program at about transponder 14, got it once to go to 16. Get the MS error abount closeing the program and do I wont to send the rapport to MS
Looked at the logs, but they stop at transponder 13, then nothing.
Tried DVB Dream and the same problem! This is then not a GBPVR problem but what should I look for? Card driver?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

  Codecs and New Zealand Freeview
Posted by: klompr - 2009-09-22, 09:00 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Background:
I have been using GBPVR for a couple of years now.
I have a Hauppauge PVR 500 and 150 card to capture TV and input from SKY decoder. I have two Hauppauge MVPs around the house. GBPVR is absolutely magic as I have been able to watch recorded TV or movies from the library in any room and even steam SKY to the other rooms via MVP with a consistent GBPVR experience.

And then I brought a High Def TV and the trouble started………………….
I decided to go the HDTV route and purchased a Hauppauge Nova TD500 DVB-T capture card and a ATI HD4350 video card.

I have read so many forum entries but can’t get my head around how to get reliable playback of New Zealand Freeview TV and the codec configuration method.
I managed to get Graphstudio to playback all my sample files captured off the main channels but that didn’t translate to a successful GBPVR solution.

All files play back in Power DVD 9 with little CPU utilisation.
I don’t quite understand the “use TS transport stream reader filter for TS files” check box or which BDA multiplexer to use but have tried all three.

On some channels I get video and no sound others it’s no video but with sound. On the High Def test channel I get neither.
I have installed codec’s from ArcSoft, Core, Power DVD and more splitters than I care to mention but am struggling with a logical method to resolve this problem.

I know that the New Zealand Freeview audio adds an additional challenge.

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction with the most basic of instructions and perhaps the logic behind it?

Cheers
Robert

  Moviewiz lookup problem
Posted by: 7ore - 2009-09-22, 06:11 AM - Forum: SearchWiz & MovieWiz - Replies (1)

There is an issue with lookup on the "Manage" tab. I have to rename all titles found as the filename seldom is the same as the title.
The problem is that if I change the title, save and then do a lookup, the search is done with the old name. Before I can do a lookup with the saved name I have to go to another movie and then back. I know I've seen a post on this earlier, but I can't find it now. The bug has existed for a couple of versions.

As I need to rename the title so often, I cannot do the lookup upon loading.
So I would like to have the opportunity to do lookup on both info and image after I changed the titles. Or better still, have the possibility to add the correct titles after the files is found but before they are loaded to the db.
(Or can I already do that??)

One more thing. When there is a couple of hits on a title, I can browse the different titles and select one of them. But I still have to do a separete image lookup after, even if the preview show an image too, why?

  Vistaview saber HB-220
Posted by: doskabouter - 2009-09-21, 08:36 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hi,
I'm trying to get GB PVR to work with my tv-tuner card (http://www.vistaview.tv/content/view/52/141/).

I managed to get one of the tuners working (if I choose Compro VideoMate E900F in the configuration) but the other one will not work.

In Windows media center, both tuners work, but I got fed up with WMC, so now I'm trying GB PVR.

I have a filtercheck.txt attached, could you please get me the settings for the direct.ini?

  Reccomended demux
Posted by: Elmo Putney - 2009-09-21, 08:33 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (2)

My PCH is on its way and I'm trying to pre-empt some questions I'm going to ask myself. I seem to remember I switched from ATI mux to TS mux because on my MVP(MC) TS mux was more relible for live TV.
Now that I'm ditching the MVP in favour of the PCH this limitation is no longer a problem (i think). I am tempted to go back to the ATI mux so that auto transcode works properly.

Any recommendations for PCH or does it just not care which mux you use?

  1.4.7 channel mapping matching (audio2)
Posted by: Elmo Putney - 2009-09-21, 07:52 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (42)

A couple of weeks ago I needed to re-scan all my dvb-t stations, in the uk we have a few shared channels like BBC3 and 4 that only air after something like 7pm.
The scan I did was in the morning, I just got round to doing an evening scan tonight to catch BBC3 and 4, when I hit the rescan button it finds all the channels ok, but it also re-maps a handful of my already mapped channels to the (audio2) version.

I did a scan from an empty mappings table and it did the same thing the pattern matching is chosing the (audio2) versions of the channel....strange because I'm 100% sure my original scans were after I had moved to 1.4.7, so I don't understand why it's changed its mind now.

Appart from that though the new scanning interface is a big improvement...though I'd still like a "duplicate caputure source" button to prevent the arse ache of doing all 4 tuners the same.

  New EEE box w/HD 4530
Posted by: pBS - 2009-09-21, 07:51 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

there's a a new crop of eee box pcs with HD 4530 onboard...
turns out these gpu's have the full 80 stream processors unlike the new 785g..[only 40]
plus they use a 945 intel chipset,so it is a real separate mobility HD 4530 gpu...
[like a laptop design]
power i ridiculously low, 36w power supply..

i see them on sale locally for just $359 with 250g drive and 2g mem...
comes with a media remote also..Smile

i think this is the most silent, best performing, tiniest client available...
[tho the PCH actually works more reliably than a client pc for me]
[scratch that, 26db, means there's a fan on graphics chip...]

UK Freeview DVB-T big retune Sept 30 2009
Posted by: martint123 - 2009-09-21, 05:48 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (45)

Oh dear, I'm not looking forward to this one!

http://www.ukfree.tv/fullstory.php?storyid=1107051615

Quote:All Freeview equipment must be retuned at midday on 30 September 2009

No matter where you are, if you use Freeview from a box, have a Freeview TV or use a Freeview+ recorder you MUST retune on this day.

If you have ANY type of Freeview receiver, you will have to retune it on 30 September 2009.

To allow the introduction of Freeview HD, and to ensure that FIVE can be watched from the public service digital TV transmitters, ALL Freeview equipment must be retuned on WEDNESDAY 30 SEPTEMBER 2009 AT LUNCHTIME.

A simple "Add channels" scan will NOT be sufficient. This will result in channels being allocated the wrong numbers.
