Comskip new ini for each channel
Posted by: drmuffin - 2009-09-23, 12:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I want to create perfect ini's for each channel. Is there a way that gbpvr can tell comskip to use fox.ini when recording from fox, cbs.ini from cbs, nbc.ini from nbc, etc?

  Multiple Capture Cards
Posted by: greatkingrat - 2009-09-22, 11:31 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

First off, let me say I read the wiki (most of it, like the part concerning my question for example) and debated putting this in hardware, so I apologize if this is misplaced.

I am reading that multiple tuners is more trouble then I expected it would be. I want to record while watching another show - that is all - in HD if the channel offers it. Some higher end Hauppauge's can do that to my knowledge, and they come with a remove.

However, can I view AND record Digital channels at once with two cards? There was a large statement about only being able to do analog + digital, even with two tuners? Does this mean that no mater what i do, I can record say, history channel (digital cable) and watch sifi (syfy, whatever, also digital cable). this seems like a limitation two cards would completely prevent. No one has trouble with two tv's with separate turners (boxes)....

Second questions came up after lurking on the forums for a few hours- Can one remote handle everything i want it to handle? or are remotes soft wired to teh cards themselves, and i'll need to use both, one to controll card 1, one to control card 2...

General information is fine for now (in responses for the remotes, don't need a step by step or anything). Just making sure GB PVR is the product i'm looking for.

No signal reported message. Live TV.
Posted by: martint123 - 2009-09-22, 09:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Watching live TV on the server (not something I normally do, but this is my spare server). Picking the channels from the TV guide to "watch"

1st, select "channel 4" Fine. Escape to exit.
2nd select ITV1 reports no signal. Escape to exit.
3rd select "channel 4" reports no signal.
use page up/down to swap between the two and no signal.
move one channel further up or down from thos above and sound an picture are back - as are the two channels above.

This is reproducible on this machine. I can't test the main server at the moment.
Signal strength/cables are not a problem as I've watched the the signal level with other tools and it is well up and steady.

Unfortunately I'm off now as a very early start in the morning for a looooooong drive.

Does 1.4.7 scan break UK Channel 4?
Posted by: Graham - 2009-09-22, 07:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

Does 1.4.7 scan break UK Channel 4 or is it just me?

Symptoms are audio but no video. All other channels are okay.

I seem to recall that I had one of the Advanced options set in previous versions and that this was to fix problems with Channel 4.

Your hard work is appreciated.

  1.4.7 channel mapping
Posted by: PaulH - 2009-09-22, 03:54 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Ok, so I've been scanning like mad trying to locate all my Comcast channels that moved to digital. I posted a few suggestions for channel mapping features in the features request forum.

Problems..

1. After a scan, preview a channel. Click on the video to enlarge. It gives you a OK and Cancel button, which seems to cancel you out of channel mappings. Suggestion - Video should open up in its' own window with just a Close (or ok) button.

2. This one is wierd...
Manual scan of a specific channel leaves you at an hourglass. Does that even work? I let it run for a long time and it didn't do anything. Now click STOP. Try to ReScan. Now I get "No channels found. Please check your signal and configuration settings". Click OK. Now every mapping where I had nothing before is now filled with one single channel. Click CANCEL to return back to "Edit Recording Source". Go back into digital channel mapping, and now everything is GONE and it begins to rescan. Click STOP. Click CANCEL. Click CANCEL. Click CANCEL (you're now out of config). Run config again, and go back into the channel mapping. Everything is still gone and rescans. Let it finish and everything should be back.

By the way -- if you map the wrong channel, how can you unmap a channel without deleting all mappings?

  Digital channel mapping options
Posted by: PaulH - 2009-09-22, 03:24 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (6)

I have a few suggestions for the digital channel mapping.

Add a button for the "Digital cable helper" if I want to kick it off again
I'd like to have a few checkbox options for "Digital Channels found during shan" are viewed, such as:

[X] Show encrypted channels
[X] Show already mapped channels
[X] Don't flush scan cache on ReScan

If you toggle the options, the listbox should keep changing its' results. Whatever options you check off, would be checked off the next time.

Typically, I would prefer not to see the encrypted channels nor the channels I've already mapped.

  Cannot choose CI module
Posted by: wijszman - 2009-09-22, 02:54 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

I've got a Cinergy USB XXS receiver with a Cinergy USB CI module.
The tuner is recognized, however I am not able to choose the CI module in the list, only Multidec.

I ran filtercheck, and the module is listed there.

Am i doing something wrong? I've read that it might be possible to use Multidec with other software to decrypt my signal, but it seems a lot of hassle, since the program does detect the CI in filtercheck.

  Hauppauge Remote alternatives
Posted by: NumberFive - 2009-09-22, 02:24 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (11)

Hi,

I'm considering upgrading my PC and perhaps buying / building a NetTop. It will therefore not have any PCI / PCI-express slots and I'll be limited to my USB Hauppauge tuners.

At the moment I have an old WinTV PCI-FM (not even GBPVR compatible) that I keep in the machine for purposes of its IR dongle only. Obviously this won't work in a modern NetTop.

Can anyone suggest an alternative, USB remote? If possible, I'd really like to keep the Hauppauge handset but I'm willing to change remote control receiver and software. If all else fails, whats the best remote to get?

Thanks Smile

  ATSC HD flickering
Posted by: shimshady - 2009-09-22, 12:51 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (15)

I have a HVR 2250 with that i use with regular analog cable as well as OTA channels. Im having a problem with flickering in the OTA channels, its sort of annoying and im wondering if its a problem with the tuner or codec. Im gonna try and download other codecs when i get home currently i am using ffdshow. I saw another post about using some community codec pack (for use with mkv files) so i might give that try. Does anyone else have this problem, it doesnt happen with analog channels. Thanks
