  Pinnacle 3010ix Audio Problems
Posted by: ecotack - 2009-09-21, 03:15 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

I have just built a new media centre using a Pinnacle 3010ix. To get the card to work I had to add two Balckgold DVB-T devices from the list (as found on these forums), because it didn't work with the Pinnacle 3010ix option.

QQ: why is the Pinnacle 3010ix in the list if it doesn't work???

Anyway, I have scanned all channels, on both of the cards and get a good signal on most channels. However on some channels I get the correct audio, others have no audio at all and a couple of times I get the voice description of what's going on on the screen.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

  BBC HD Encryption

What's goin' on 'ere ...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8259154.stm

In particular, what does this mean ...

Quote:
Under licensing rules, the BBC is not allowed to encrypt the actual video or audio streams.
So instead it is requesting that it be allowed to encrypt the data associated with TV listings without which set-top boxes are not able to decode the TV content.

  MPEG-2 Demultiplexer causes lockups!
Posted by: _gl - 2009-09-21, 11:35 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

This has been driving me crazy for about a month. Suddenly, for no good reason I can think of, I started getting regular PVRX2 lockups when seeking, pausing, and sometimes just playing recorded SD MPEG2 shows. I got so used to killing the app blind via Task Manager, it's not funny.

This has been working fine for years, and I didn't make any obvious changes (eg. GBPVR, driver, decoder etc). I spent forever trying every conceivable thing (reversing/updating all sorts of drivers, video card settings, BIOS settings etc), but finally tracked it down to the "MPEG-2 Demultiplexer" filter.

When I change to using the "MPEG-2 Splitter" (which bizarrely is the same MS file, MPG2SPLT.ax), everything works as it used to:

(in config.xml, use this)
<PreferredMpegPlaybackDemux>MPEG-2 Splitter</PreferredMpegPlaybackDemux>

It's definitely the demuxer as I can also use eg. the Nero Splitter and everything works.

Note changing the merit of the Demultiplexer to 0 (and/or upping the merit of the Splitter or other splitter filter) doesn't help, DShow still uses the demux by default for MPEG2 files (confirmed with GraphEdit), and you can't unregister it either as GB uses it explicitly for LiveTV.

Does anybody have any idea what's going on? Could a recent MS security update somehow have broken their demuxer? Or did I maybe get the Splitter until recently? And as they're both the same actual file, why the hell does the Splitter work when the Demuxer doesn't? What's the difference anyway?

  Black Screen with New HDHR
Posted by: Azimuth - 2009-09-21, 06:43 AM - Forum: MVPMC dongle - Replies (4)

I just got my new HDHR and everything works great from the PCH's.
However the MVP's (running MVPMC) show only a black screen when selecting a show from the guide.

The tuner shows that it is in use with the correct show displayed. and the MVP status icons also show that the MVP is playing said show.

your help is much appreciated.
Thanks

The type initializer for 'PsycikProductions.MusicLibrary.Interfaces.Track' threw...

Been having problems with getting ML2 to run. I got it to load, the database scan works, but no songs come up to play. I have artists (left), and albums (top right).

I have nuked the database, and rebuilt it. I even got a sqlite browser, and looked in the database, and it looks like the info is all there.

I set the logging to stupid, and this is what comes up...

Completely run out of ideas... Here is the ML2 log. Take this section, and repeat for 350kb of logs (for every song)

.ts file sizes larger than in 1.3.11?
Posted by: skreien - 2009-09-21, 01:04 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I have successfully upgraded to 1.4.7 about a week ago along with the latest HDHomerun code; everything went very smoothly. After letting it run for a week I noticed that I was starting to run low on disk space. Upon investigation I noticed that half hour recordings were taking about 800-900 megs each before in 1.3.11, but now are taking about 3.4 gigs each in 1.4.7.
Anyone else noticed this?

I recall reading something a long time ago about sending only the data I want to disk from the stream instead of the entire stream in .ts format, but I can't find anything like that in the config anywhere and I haven't found the post I remember yet.

BTW, I have it set to TS, not FULL TS.

Audio is "fractured" when watching ATSC channels live
Posted by: KS4UA - 2009-09-21, 12:44 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I've finally gotten my HVR-1600 setup in GBPVR on the ATSC tuner. The analog side has been working for a while but I hadn't taken the time to setup the ATSC tuner until now (long story).

This weekend, I was able to setup the ATSC side in Config. That was fairly straightforward.

Then going into PVRX2, I've found a real problem with the audio on the ATSC channel. I can tune to an ATSC channel and watch the video portion perfectly. Looks great! But the audio portion in GBPVR is nothing more than a bunch of loud squeals and clicks. (I don't know how else to describe it.) I have to mute the sound quickly, because I am afraid I will blow a speaker.

Am I missing something in GBPVR config that I should be aware of? This has got me confused and frustrated. Any ideas on where to start looking?

FWIW - The HVR-1600 audio is working fine when I use WinTV7 and Windows 7 MCE to watch the same ATSC stations, so I am assume it must be something in GBPVR that I don't know about yet.

Thanks for any help!

Error: System does not support VMR9 video render
Posted by: Dhanu - 2009-09-20, 10:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi ,
When I try to start the PVRX2 I get the System does not support VMR9 video render error. I checked the dxdiag and Direct X 9 is installed.
My video card is ATI Radeon X800 Pro 256MB (TV is connected through S-Video)
I don't have the driver cd for the video card so I followed the following link and downloaded the "Catalyst Software Suite" and installed it.
logs are attached to the thread.
Could someone please help me with this?

Thanks in advance.

how to auto convert HDPVR .ts to mp4 1280x720 in gbpvr?
Posted by: tvshowman - 2009-09-20, 08:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (31)

I know there are a few HDPVR users recording HDTV so I am looking for info on how you are converting your .ts recordings in pvrx2?

I have seen some bluray rips converted to h264 1280x690 at 23.975 fps bitrate 1,536 kb/s 1:53 hours that look great and have a file size of 1,570 megs

Is there a mencoder of ffmpeg command line that you are using in gbpvr that will do something like this?

Thanks for any info or help to get me in the right direction.
