  Switching Channels and STB
Posted by: Snooze - 2009-09-18, 11:08 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I have had an issue with this since 1.2.13 when I started to use my sony mpeg card to act as a second capture source from my STB through S-Video for analog in case the HVR-1600 was busy. My current capture source setup looks like this:

#1 Record HVR-1600 Analog
#2 Record HVR-1600 QAM
#3 Sony Mpeg w/ STB
#2 Live HVR-1600 QAM
#1 Live HVR-1600 Anaog

Everything works fine, Live TV, Recording, but here is what is happening. Lets say I have the following channel changes:

If I am watching channel 306 (QAM)...channel down to 94 (this is only available with the Sony card w/ STB), Continue channel down to 74 (available on HVR-1600 as analog and on the sony from the STB) it stays on the sony w/ STB instead of going back to the beginning of the Live TV list (bottom up) which is the HVR-1600 analog.

Do I have something setup wrong, or is this normal behavior?

Live TV video Freezes, audio continues
Posted by: bad77z28 - 2009-09-18, 11:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have been using GBPVR for years without issue, upgraded recently to 1.4.7 after complete uninstall/reinstall due to service uninstall issue.

The video is freezing at random intervals, network clients continue without issue as does the audio. I can pause the channel and break it out or start a recorded show sometimes to break it out as well.

I have changed my decoders and renderers around but the issue persists.

Any advice or help is appreciated.

Thank you also Sub for such a great application, it has served me quite well in my computer room for years.

PVXR2 does not recognize the TV tuner anymore
Posted by: bfracing - 2009-09-18, 10:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have installed 1.4.7 (and the new MS runtime) but had several problems:
1) I have a Pinnacle PCTV 310i PCI DVB-T but it got recognized as PCTV 713x. It was recognized correctly with 1.3.11.
2) Most of the channels appear as double entries (i.e. "BBC one" and "BBC one (audio#2)") but only the former has got both audio and video signals. So I did what I usually did in v1.3.11: I have disabled the latter in the "map digital channels to EPG channels" panel, but the channels actually mapped are the wrong ones in v1.4.7!

Because of this I went back to 1.3.11 and I still have problem #1 (but not #2), and every now and then PVXR2 crashes while I watch live tv, which didn't happen before.
Any ideas of what to check/what may be wrong?
Thanks

  Failed recordings, machine remains hibernated
Posted by: sixeyes - 2009-09-18, 07:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Just over a week ago I changed my GBPVR PC's power settings. After 10 minutes it would hibernate. I was impressed that GBPVR woke the machine and recorded TV programmes as normal and saved me having it powered up 24/7.

However a couple of days ago it stopped waking up. I've no idea why this is but I'm hoping someone can suggest a way of getting the PC waking up to record programmes.

I've attached the logs in case it helps.

Iain

Post processing freeview digital radio to MP3 format
Posted by: neil.mahon - 2009-09-18, 04:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi guys.

I do some work for a broadcast monitoring company, and am trying to find a more effective way to record the massive volume of radio involved.

Seems like GB-PVR is going to be an ideal method, particularly as I can use one tuner card to grab every radio stream that comes down on a single multiplexer (i.e. every BBC radio station) using a freeview connection.

However, I need to find out if there is some clever way to get the software to differentiate between the TV and the Radio broadcast, and having managed that, convert on the fly where possible from mp2 to mp3 without me having to use some 3rd party audio converter tool.

Any thoughts of the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Neil.

Is there a detailed manual that shows each tab of the configuration program and what each field in that tab means and does?

  <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>
Posted by: mobiusnz - 2009-09-18, 10:21 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Now that I have 2 DVB-T tuners and 2 analogue tuners I really want to avoid using the Analogue's unless I absolutely have to so I get HD - Stangely I seem to often get analogue recordings at times when there is little or nothing else recording. I currently have <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> set to true. If I have <TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible> set to true does this mean it will still use another tuner for a subsequent recording on the same channel rather than stopping and starting the same tuner? I hate (strong word) having 1 minute of a show on the start of the next show which is the main reason I want so many tuners. I actually have another twin DVB-T card in I'm about to configure so then I'll have 4 HD tuners so hopefully it won't be an issue. From what I've witnessed it appears that when you book a new show to season record whatever tuner was used on the first show will be preferred from then on??? Is this correct?

Cheers,

Matt

  cards that can record 480x480
Posted by: pBS - 2009-09-18, 08:55 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

hmmm,my aver m780 can only do 720x480...that's it...[analog]
i was wondering which cards can gbpvr change the resulotion of...
or does it just work with any card that has those resolutions available?
i like the AVer card a lot, but it has a temporal filter i can't adjust away...[occasional trails]
and a low end limit of like 4000 on bitrate..[kinda high, but can't do lower resolutions,so not really needed...bitrate range,4000-120000]
otherwise it's much better quality than the blackbird types..

i mean i know the Conexant based cards can, but any other brands?
how about ati 650? or the newer hvr2250 style cards? what's their bitrate range? are there any tweaks for it? [does it have the adj. filters like spatial/temporal, like conexants, like in haupptweak]

thanx
