Setting up client without simple file sharing
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2009-08-28, 11:15 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it on the forum. I'm trying to set up a server/client and for ohter reasons I can't use simple file sharing. Is that a problem? Any special precautions, like ports that has to be opened in the firewall?

I'm running XP-SP3 on both computers using windows own firewall.

TV Guide listings 1 hour early
Posted by: ooben - 2009-08-28, 10:29 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hello, newby here...first post. After much fiddling and a lot of reading in this forum (thank you!) I have GBPVR working very well, I can even watch live TV on my wireless laptop! The only problem I have is the SchedulesDirect listings in the tv guide are a hour early....for example the 5PM news is listed at 4PM. If I schedule a recording at 4PM, I get Opra instead of the news....a waste of hard drive space in my opinion Smile If I remember to schedule the recording at the correct time, the name of the recording reflects what the tv guided has listed for that time. I have tried dumping the EPG and doing a complete update, didn't seem to help. At this point, I don't know if the problem is with GBPVR or with SchedulesDirect....it's almost like SD doesn't know we are on Daylight Savings time.....
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Thank you,
Mike

Need help with analogue capture devices
Posted by: ajnatural - 2009-08-28, 10:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Hi, I know most people use GB-PVR for digital television (ATSC, DVB-T, etc) but I use foxtel (paytv) and wish to record from that, from my point of view I have 2 options- either find a way to decrypt the foxtel signal, or use an analogue capture device to record the outgoing SVIDEO or composite. I currently have 2 capture cards, one of them (Adaptec Videoh) is supported by GB-PVR. My problem is that, even though the card is detected by GB-PVR I recive no video on Live tv, when i click on 'live tv' the screen simply flashes. I have tried changing around the settings that appear relavent however it makes no difference. Also, VLC player can detect both capture cards fine and recieve Audio and Video from both, therfore the problem must be within GB-PVR.

  Unhandled exception when running PVRX2
Posted by: ernmalley - 2009-08-28, 07:02 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi,
I've just installed GBPVR. I've run the Config tool successfully but I get an error when I run PVRX2. The error details are:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** Exception Text **************
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at GBPVRX2.x0061b801bdf12d35.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

After the error I see an 'empty' window with a red cross through it - like it can't create the control.
I believe I have the right version of the .NET framework installed, but am not sure how to verify it.

I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV Nova TD-500 PCI tuner card.
The logs are attached.

Any help greatly appreciated!

  Comskip & Digital?
Posted by: nightwalker - 2009-08-28, 06:21 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (8)

Nuts, the title should have been comskip & digital?

I recently changed over from getting analog straight from cable to having to go through a STB. The only difference I can see is instead of getting it straight from the cable I now get the signal from a STB, either way from my perspective it's still analog as it records the same mpg file it always has.

My problem is Comskip now gets very sporadic results. Sometimes it works just fine, other times it catches no commercials at all and other times it cuts an hour show to 20 minutes while cutting most of the show in the process.

Has anyone else noticed this when making the change to getting the signal from a digital source through a STB?

Since it's been so sporadic it's hard to even know where to start trying to fine tune it. Is there something different that happens between getting straight analog from the cable and getting analog from a STB?

MVP stuck in Live TV after rewind
Posted by: baj1 - 2009-08-28, 06:15 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

My wife just brought this to my attention. If she is watching Live TV through one of our MVPs and pauses or rewinds (skips back), the MVP will not exit out of Live TV mode after the current show ends and the next show begins. She has to cycle power on the MVP (with the remote).

It's not a big issue, I just thought I'd see if there was a fix or any ideas.

Thanks,
-Brad

PS - GBPVR is a big hit in our house - hats off to Sub, Martin, and all the others who have worked hard making this an incredible PVR solution!

  Weather2 V1.0.0.0
Posted by: scb147 - 2009-08-28, 05:46 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (20)

The new Weather2 V1.0.0.0 plugin is now available for download from the wiki page:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/Weather2

I never had an official beta test, so I'm using V1.0.0.0 to do that.

!!!! Please manually stop recording service before installing. I need to fix the installer to do so !!!!

I think I covered everything that needs to be covered in the wiki, if not, PM me.

For bugs, etc, please post in the support forum, here: Weather2 Support Sub-Forum

I hope everyone enjoys it, I had fun coding it... but I should have picked an easier plugin to tackle for my first Smile

Thread closed, check out the sub-forum!
http://forums.gbpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?f=43

All support items for the Weather2 plugin go here.

Thanks!

EDIT1: I should have mentioned that you may want to delete or backup the icons in your media/WeatherIcon folder if you are using the original Weather plugin. The mapping of the icons is different, and I don't want people having issues with showing the wrong icons.

EDIT2: The "Local" radar is actually a "State" radar... I will be renaming that in the next release.

EDIT3: MVPs aren't working with this, no idea why.

EDIT4: Installer doesn't seem to be working with W7 systems. I will get a different installer to use.

EDIT5: Installer doesn't stop the recording service, so please do that before installing!

No audio after upgrading to 8/22 release of mvpmcx2

Just dropped in the new mvpmcx2 and lost audio on all channels. I am using comcast QAM. Is there some setting to tweak in the config? It was working perfectly with the previous version.

HTTP Error 400 - Bad Request using EWA remotely
Posted by: patriccote - 2009-08-28, 12:15 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (1)

Hi

I'm using Windows XP (non Media Center) and the EWA is working fine locally (http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/index.aspx). Unfortunatly, when I try to use it remotely, I get an HTTP Error 400 - Bad Request (http://1.2.3.4:7647/gbpvr/login.aspx). I've tested the port 7647 and it is open. I can't seem to find documentation on this error. I'm using the GBPVR 1.3.11.

Thanks !
