Is there something special in GbPVR that needs to be done to create abd use a custom task? I created a task for Hulu Desktop, restarted the config applet, and Hulu Desktop showed up in the list of plugins as expected. However, when I start Pvrx2, the custom task does not show up in the menu. I also tried a test with something easy like notepad.exe, but it also did not show in the menu.
I have my TV setup as a 2nd monitor on my GBPVR machine. I have an LCD monitor as the primary. The LCD sits on my desk next to my work computer and I use it as a 2nd machine (using Synergy to share kybd and mouse) for websurfing - IM stuff like that while I work on my main machine.
I installed a free version of Nero that came with a DVD burner I bought. The software was useless and I uninstalled it in a few days. Since then video will not play correctly on the lcd monitor. GBPVR through the tv is unaffected. Video played on the lcd is cropped or enlarged or both. If you were to watch a clip of the Daily Show you would see John Stewarts mouth and nose and nothing else.
This happens with all software - Windows media player, VLC, Irfran View etc. Even some web videos do not display correctly. The rest of the display renders normally. Only video is affected.
I didn't notice the problem until months after I uninstalled Nero, so too late for a system restore.
I would like to fix this without screwing up my GBPVR install which is working fine. Any ideas?
Can WizMetadataGrabber be used standalone - i.e. on a machine where gbpvr is not installed? I do most of my file maintaining on a seperate system from my pvr system, and it would be nice to use this utility on my 'work' system. Is there perhaps a dll or two that could be copied from the main gbpvr intall into a standalone WizMetadataGrabber folder to get it working on it's own?
I have a Toshiba Hybrid DVB-T Tuner running on a Windows XP SP3 machine. My tuner isn't recognised by GB-PVR but I finally got it to work by following some instructions on the wiki page. I've scanned for channels and it has found all four that it was meant to and has also automatically downloaded the EPG for them.
However.... when I go to view a channel I hear about half a second of sound and I see a black screen. After a few more seconds a message appears saying:
"No signal detected. Please ensure that the antenna cable is connected or that the antenna signal is strong"
It also shows both quality and strength bars as empty.
I think I have all the codecs required and the antenna is obviously picking up the channels (it found them in the scan and the EPG) so I'm not sure what's wrong. Can anyone shed some light on my problem?
Some interesting reading here. I guess OTA is going to be the best way to go in the states as our options are less and less with our price choice higher and higher.
Here's an odd one. been using EWA for years - now I find that manage recordings/table view doesn't work; it eventually times out and I get a white blank screen from my remote machine (on the same LAN).
What happened as that I went to manage recordings/tree view and can't get back to table view.
Yet switching between tree and table view works fine using localhost, but access to the rest of EWA works fine so it's not a connectivity issue.
I'm using FireFox 3.5.2. Thoughts as to what might need tweaking gladly received.
I open up recordings, pick recurring programs, choose one, select it, choose update.
Then instead of it taking me to an edit screen, it collapses the previous window, and just hangs the who application.
I'm using Windows 7, but even if I run it in XP SP3 compatibility mode it still does the same thing.
I note this bit from my log

Have enjoyed the challenge(for me)of setting up GBPVR.Have got to the live
crashes,no signal bar, etc stage.Task Manager showing 100% cpu usage (70% with Wintv, analogue).Suspect 1.3GHz cpu pushing it for digital.
Would like to learn more about properties for codecs, filters etc.Any
leads?.Have G-Spot but what does it all mean.
My cable provider just remapped my QAM channels again. While I was rescanning, I started thinking that there must be a better way to keep up with this. The way I do it now is first go to the silicone dust forum and find out where they think the current channels are. Then I go to a QAM ready TV and input that channel number. Most of the time, the channels are correct. Once I know the channel numbers, I edit the QAM list in the atsc folder so it will only scan the channels I want. I then rescan in config and then map to the stations to the new channels.
The fact that I can just enter the channel number into a QAM ready TV makes me think that most QAM must use the same basic tuning information like: T:116,0,0~P:1~V:64~A:65~PMT:71~PCR:64~N:>116.1 * (000(AC3))
for channel 116-1. If so, then it would be great to create a master list that we could use as a scan-x file. Then all that you would have to do was go to silicone dust, find your channel numbers, then map them to the correct location without having to rescan. Does that make sense? Would it work?
