  IR Blasting to Comcast DTA
Posted by: esc9999 - 2009-08-24, 12:36 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Setup:
Comcast DTA Pace box (sucks!!!!!)
MCE 2005 remote, receiver and blaster
Hauppauge PVR-500

Can watch fixed channel live TV, but just cannot get GB-PVR to IR blast and change channels on the Comcast PACE DTA box. Tried to learn the signals by setting up the device in GB-PVR and it seems to learn, IR Blaster blinks like crazy, but the Comcast PACE DTA box does not accept the signal at all.

Searched and searched the web, but all I can find is that it accepts XMP protocol signals. Does MCE IR Blaster output XMP protocol signals? Will GB-PVR support this?

I also tried IR Server Suite, and could not get this to work. It learnt the Comcast PACE DTA controller signals, but when blasting, the Comcast PACE DTA box does not respond (again the IR Blaster blinks, but Comcast PACE DTA box does not respond).

I am at a total loss. I would prefer not to move to QAM tuner.

  Skip problem
Posted by: Bobins - 2009-08-23, 09:21 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I've got an odd problem just started on my GBPVR server and it's probably my fault (or so the Wife says) as it's been working fine for months but in wanting to attach a new HDTV, I updated my graphics drivers from Catalyst 9.6 to the latest 9.8 verson.

Everything seems to work fine other than skip has stopped working. I'll qualify that. If I play an mpg file, skip forward or backwards works fine. If I play a recorded TS format file, when you press skip, the picture freezes and sound stops, after 30-40 seconds, the picture fast forwards about a minute and playback resumes. If I press say 10 and skip (for a 10 minute jump), the picture freezes for about 2-3 minutes then fast forwards 10 minutes and playback resumes. (and I do mean Fast Forward rather than jump)

This only seems to happens playing back TS files but unfortunately that's all I record from TV.

Backout the driver update I hear you say..... that didn't fix the problem.

Can't see anything odd in the log files and no error messages.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

  Trying ffdshow as transcoder to MVP
Posted by: jim08127 - 2009-08-23, 08:54 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

I have ffdshow installed with default configuration and wanted to try using it instead of ffmpeg as transcoder for avi files played on MVP. The ffmpeg works ok.

Anyways when I change the config.xml settings (false for ffmpeg and true for ffdshow) and then go to play an avi, the MVP reboots after a few seconds. I can't really tell whats happening other than that.

The file I am trying to play is 720 x 480, XVID with MPEG layer-3 Audio. I didn't have to change anything to get it to work with ffmpeg.

Any suggestions?

  No channels despite good signal
Posted by: Mooncalf - 2009-08-23, 08:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi all,

First post here as I'm in need of some expert help.

I've recently got myself a Pinnacle 3010iX DVB-T tuner card and I've not been able to get anything useful out of it, even when using Pinnacle's own software (maybe that's not so much of a surprise).

In all applications and tools I've tried, no channels are detected from the DVB-T source. On a new install of Windows 7 RC, I've tried Windows Media Centre, and on a new install of Windows XP, I've tried Pinnacle's TVCentre, the highly recommended GB-PVR, and in order to test things ScanChannelsBDA_UK, and none of them are able to detect digital channels.

I wondered if the card itself was just unable to tune to the DVB-T signals, but most promisingly the log files generated during the scan process in GB-PVR seem to suggest otherwise. I attach them in the hope that someone more familiar with the logs can spot the issue with my setup.

I'm using GB-PVR version 1.3.11. I should also point out that I have also tried the updated GBPVRTSReader.ax/GBPVRTSMon.ax/PsiParser.ax files from the v1.3.11 survival guide, but to no avail.

Because GB-PVR detected my card as a BlackGold BGT3540 during the config/tuning process (despite the drivers for 3010iX being installed), I have also tried with the BlackGold drivers (which the attached logs were generated with).

It seems that each of the carriers for my transmitter (Crystal Palace) are being correctly detected (with good strength and quality), but the Program Stream is not read or decoded correctly. Is there anything in the logs that give a clue to what's going wrong? I hope it's not the card.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Rich

  Searching Guide Contents

Is there a way to search the Guide listings and descriptions? I found the ShowSearch plugin, but it doesn't seem to work. It was listed as working on version .99 to 1.2, and I'm running 1.3.11.

  webbrowser controlled music player?
Posted by: reven - 2009-08-23, 03:23 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

im looking to control music playback on my HTPC via a webbrowser.

im not really fussed on what app i have to use, itunes, wmp, winamp.

but i want a good interface (all web2.0, and ajax, something that is easy to use) and easy to install.

i need to control music playback from various computers and have it played on my htpc which is connected to my sound system.

i thought it would be easy and lots of little asp.net/whatever apps out there but after an hour or so of hunting i havent found anything that is any good.

so anyone got any recommendations?

  align & valign for images
Posted by: Jaggy - 2009-08-22, 10:58 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

align="xxx" & valign="xxx" for DrawImage filename="@xxx"

I don't know if I should be posting this in the wishlist or the developers forum but it is something I haven't been able to get working so if it already works please let me know what I am doing wrong.

I would like to at times be able to dictate where on the screen an image displayed like I can with text using align="xxx" & valign="xxx"

in this example

<DrawImage filename="RecordingInProgress.png" loc="0,0" size="100,100" fixedAspectRatio="true"/>
it displays the image full width & approx 1/3 height in the center of the screen

this example
<DrawImage filename="RecordingInProgress.png" loc="0,0" size="100,100" fixedAspectRatio="true" valign="Bottom"/>
displays exactly the same as does
<DrawImage filename="RecordingInProgress.png" loc="0,0" size="100,100" fixedAspectRatio="true" valign="Top"/>

  Pinnacle PCTV HD Stick Pro 801e ATSC OTA Scan fix
Posted by: kylenss - 2009-08-22, 09:55 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I just went through 2 days of abuse trying to figure out why my 801e usb stick would scan for broadcast channels and not find any or return any errors during the scan. I can get 50+ channels with the bundled software, so obviously, something was wrong. After searching the forums I noticed I'm not the first one to have this problem.

I don't have cable but tried some QAM scans anyway to see what would happen and wound up getting a couple of broadcast channels. After a little more experimenting with whurlston's qam.ini's, and some comparison to the atsc freq specs, I realized what was going on. The frequencies from the QAM scans that pulled broadcast channels were using the video freq for the channels, not the assigned atsc carrier freq. In the lower 13 channel slots these are roughly the same but above that range the video freq. is roughly 1mhz higher than the atsc carrier freq for that channel. I.E., in slot 2 the video freq is 55250 and the atsc carrier freq is 55310 but in slot 15 the video freq is 477250 and the atsc carrier freq is 476310. It appears that whurlstons center freq based qam.ini is using the video freqs and without that I would never have figured this out, so, thanks man Smile

I made an all.ini that uses the video freqs for broadcast tv and voila, I ran a new scan and had 50+ channels in the list.

So, for those of you wishing I'd just get to the point, sorry for being so long winded Smile

Here is an all.ini file that uses the video frequencies for the broadcast channels, replace your current one with this one and you should be good to go for over the air broadcast channels.

Also, I had created my own entry in the bda.ini thinking that might be the issue, but the first "Pinnacle HD Stick Pro" setting in the stock bda.ini file works fine.

Hope this is useful to someone other than me Wink

  Longest time since last version?

This is not a criticism but just wondered if this is the longest period of time between a gbpvr version update??
