  Converting from Myth-TV
Posted by: bwgreen - 2009-08-25, 05:24 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

Hi,
I have been running MythTV for several years, but I am getting fed up with the system and thinking of using a Windows-based PVR. I've pretty much chosen GB-PVR, but I don't really want to lose all the recording information in my database if I can help it! What I'm looking for is if anyone has converted the information from the MythTV MySQL database into GB-PVR - the main thing I don't want to lose is the information on what I have already recorded.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Brian

Help smooth my transition from MythTV, questions inside
Posted by: goofygrin - 2009-08-25, 03:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

OK, got GBPVR up and running on a Windows 7 box and since I'm a long time MythTV user, I've got some differences that I'm trying to reconcile.

  • Comm flagging. I think I need to install the commflagging plugin per the wiki, right?
  • Season Recording, first runs only. I don't see an option for this? I searched and I found some less than definitive posts about it relating to the fact that outside the US this data isn't really available. I have some season recordings that will be "first showing only" (i.e. prime time shows) and others that won't be (i.e. PBS shows for my son). I use Schedules Direct as my EPG source.
  • Setting up a season recording from the web interface. I've installed the EWA, but I just don't see a way to do this from this interface. I've likely missed something.
  • Setting up EWA to run under IIS7 on Windows 7 is giving me issues with the web.config (it says that the entry removing the default web service handler for asmx files isn't allowed at this point?). I know, not enough info to go on... My wife is cool with using a web interface to manage/schedule recordings, but I hate remembering a port (I did reset it to an easier to remember port, so at least that worked Wink).
  • I have 6 tuners (PVR 500 + 2 HDHomeRuns). They all are setup with the same EPG provider. Will GBPVR hit Schedules Direct 6 times, once for each source? Or is it smart enough to not do that?
  • In the Guide, my HD channels seem to be blank and then pop in after 10 seconds or though.
  • When watching live TV, channel changes on the same tuner are very fast (like instant, very cool). However, when I switch from an HD channel to an SD channel, all I get is a black screen. If I exit Live TV and get back in it's on the SD channel and it works fine and I can go to an HD channel just fine, but back to SD = black screen. I don't have speakers on this computer, so I don't know if it's just a video glitch and audio's still playing or what.
  • When setting up a recording that will use a HDHomeRun (QAM) tuner, I get the option for quality. I searched and saw that most people think this is ignored for ts recordings. I just wanted to verify this because transcoding the recordings is something I want to avoid.

I'm sure there are more... but this is a good list to get started Smile

I've posted on the NMT forum about my issues getting my NMTs to talk to the GBPVR server.

I'm not a dummy, but I sure feel like one. Help get NMT working with GBPVR please!
Posted by: goofygrin - 2009-08-25, 03:07 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (34)

Like the title says, I'm not a dummy, but man... I feel like I've taken a couple steps back for sure!

I've got a Windows 7 box with a PVR500 in it and 2 HDHomeRuns on the network (getting HD via QAM). I got GBPVR setup and works fine on that box. I can record 6-8 things at once (since the HD is via QAM, I can get stuff on the multiplex, very cool).

My issue is that I want to use my NMT (Kaiboer K100 and eGreat e34a) as a front end to the GBPVR box.

Either I'm overthinking it or the dummy guide is way out of whack... especially when it talks about a USB stick.

In any case, I installed via that installer, skipping the GBPVR install. I have a share that I can see from my other windows computers (all Windows 7 at this point).

I have mapped a network share on the NMTs to this location without issue. They are mapped as MEDIA:pvrmc (or whatever the share name is, I'm at work now). I can go to the network share and go to the 4th icon and launch the .htm file. No matter what I select I immediately get the "operation failed" error message.

One thing that's bothering me is that when I do the network browser from the NMT (either of them), I don't see anything but NFS server. I don't see the homegroup that the windows 7 boxes are in. I'm thinking that this is part of the issue.

Please help!

Just a curious question?

Does the name 'Sub' come from the ol' BBS days? (Sub-op),(Sys-op)

I had some late nights into the BBS way back, I had a sub-op on my BBS we called him Sub too. We used a Commodore 64 with a MASS of 5.25 drives, (10 I think it was). Boy things have changed.....

XRecord - and Max Recordings to Keep?
Posted by: pmularien - 2009-08-25, 12:57 AM - Forum: XSuite (Xrecord, XSearch, XGuide, CDK Scheduler) - Replies (5)

Thanks in advance for answering.

Using GB-PVR 1.3.11 and XRecord. I like the XSuite, but am noticing that since I installed it, I think the "Max Recordings to Keep" feature has vanished from my recording options. Is this not supported in XRecord and, if not, any suggestions for trimming old recordings within a particular show + season?

strong signals but no channel found
Posted by: Bez - 2009-08-24, 10:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have an ATI HDTV WONDER card that runs fine with WatchHDTV so I know the card works, but cannot get it to work with GBPVR. Here're what I did:

- download & install GBPVR
- select capture source, found the card alright
- created a trial account with zap2it, was able to link up with EPG source

- but when I click "map digital channels to EPG channels", it automatically scans through 68 channels or so, some with no signals but some have strong signals (I have a good rooftop antenna). However even with the channels found with strong signals I still see a black screen on top-right corner. After scanning through 68 channels it says "No channel found".

I have already run "refregisterfilter".

PLEASE HELP! (zip file of the 2 config logs is attached)

System: Dell Dimension 4700 (Pentium 2.8GHz), XP Home, ATI HDTV Wonder

THANKS!

  Windows 7, GBPVR & Hauppauge 45-button remote
Posted by: Tromador - 2009-08-24, 07:43 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have just upgraded to win 7 x64 and am reinstalling all my software.

I have an HVR 1300 which is running fine and I can control WinTV with the remote.

I've set up GBPVR and have live TV working fine.

I've set remote control type to Hauppauge and clicked the fix 45-button settings on the dvd tab, then stopped & started the irremote service.

GBPVR does not respond to the remote.

I wonder if there's a problem with permission for gbpvr to edit irremote.ini as I'm having trouble doing that too.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be grateful.

diseqc with TT-S3200 / Skystar HD problem
Posted by: pastimer - 2009-08-24, 08:15 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hi,

Diseqc with TT-S3200 / Skystar HD (and probably any technotrend dvb-s card) is not working. Dvbviewer uses a special dll file (ttBdaDrvApi_Dll.dll) to make diseqc work. I tried copying that file into the GBPVR directory, but it doesn't help.

Somebody got diseqc working with gbpvr?

Thanks, Eppo
