  Photo library Pictus displayed sideways
Posted by: Flyndr - 2009-07-23, 05:36 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

I seem to have photo library plugin which works fine but some of the pictures are in portrait format (up and down rather than sideways) and the program shows then on their sides. I have tried turning them with various programs (Windows picture and fax viewer and photoshop) and they display fine in those programs but still sideways in photo viewer or the screensaver.
Is there a setting or a way to fix this. Should i use Photos plugin or picture library instead?

  Formatting a 1TB HD
Posted by: mian - 2009-07-23, 04:50 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

I've got a 1TB sata WD Caviar Black. Ran a real format, ntfs, with XP Computer Management after hooking it up instead of a quick format because I wanted to make sure it was 100%. It's been 6 hours and it just passed 10% (it has been progressing at an even rate). I knew it would take a while, but 60 hours? That seems excessive. It didn't take that long to ship cross country (free no less).

Am I just whining/is that a normal format rate? Or is that a sign of a problem like XP is finding and blocking off bad sectors or something else? Would a quick format + a separate surface scan take just as long?

Thanks =)

  Video card for NZ DVB-T
Posted by: krypton_john - 2009-07-23, 03:49 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Hi all, looking for a recommendation for a video card to play and assist with decoding NZ DVB-T freeview. I understand this implies only an nVidia 8X or 9X card due to ATi driver issues and ability to assist playback of H264 video.

To add complication, I want to install this card in a Shuttle XPC case, so space is very tight (won't fit bulky heatsink/fan combination) and the power supply is a pathetic 250W.

I am sure an 8400GS card would fit and comply with the power contraint, but will it play the H264 1080i video in conjunction with 2.8Ghz celeron-D CPU?

Otherwise I expect an 8500GT type might work but they are hard to find now. What about the 9500 cards?

Oh, it needs to be TV-Out component video. No HDMI on the TV.

Look forward to any comments,

Cheers,
JohnO

Problems changing channels in live tv
Posted by: sugatam - 2009-07-23, 03:15 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (9)

I recently set up gbpcr with comcast, using a dvico qam card on the pc, schedules direct for epg, and mvpmcx2 on a A110 via network browse. Works great for the most part, except I have this recurring problem. When witching channels on live tv via the arrow keys, I get a second or two of the new channel, then the screen goes black, and after several seconds I get thrown back to the tv guide. Live tv works great if I don't try to switch channels.

Any idea what's wrong?

should wintv pick up (DVB-T) channels better than gbpvr ?
Posted by: mike-in-aus - 2009-07-23, 01:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hi, firstly apologies for the long post - a reflection of my frustration level and lack of knowledge of what is happening.

I have run the Hauppage WinTV software which quickly scans, detects and shows all the local channels (sydney's inner west).

Yet I am unable to get a single scan from gbpvr that includes all channels. Repeated scans eventually leads to the full collection of channels (after manually compiling my own cache scan file) but even after that i get some channels that show the "signal strength" message.

Note that after LOTS of testing in different configurations (passive splitter, active splitter at different levels, using different outlets in the house, turning on other tvs in an effort to "reduce" the signal strength {does that do anything ?}, gbpvr reinstall) I still do not have a way to reproduce reliable results ie the scans seem pretty random on what channels they find.

Channel Seven is a stayer, abc/one/ten most times, nine sometimes, and SBS hardly ever.

Is there any reason WinTV would pick up all channels while gbpv is somewhat more picky ? Any thoughts on troubleshooting this would also be appreciated. I did not want to attach log files until I could get a consistent result. Feel free to state the obvious as I am just getting started.

Thanks in advance.

This is a new install running 1.3.11 with HVR 2200 (WinXP with latest hauppauge card drivers).

Upscaling on ATI 4000 series cards?
Posted by: siliconaudio - 2009-07-23, 01:43 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Hi folks,

I'm toying with the idea of getting something like an ATI Radeon HD 4550 to see if hardware upscaling from an SD satellite broadcast to 720p or 1080p is worth doing.

Anyone doing this on one of the new Radeons?

Bill.

  I "Heart" my MVP
Posted by: mvallevand - 2009-07-22, 11:18 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (1)

I did a minor update to mvpmcx2 today for those of you who grew up with the MVP remote and GBPVR. The Return/Exit key will now stop video and if you use the modified lircd (also updated) the channel up and down will function like page up/down in the libraries and the EPG.

I break my own rules about posting in the wrong forum and I can't even delete this message!

PC Client & PCH Live TV Problem
Posted by: srhutch - 2009-07-22, 09:51 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

I had to recover my GBPVR setup from an image I took a few weeks ago after windows update screwed the whole lot up.

After recovering the image the only thing I did was to replace the gbpvr.db3 file with the latest one to ensure all the recording and settings were correct.

Most things are working but I seem to have 3 main issues which are no doubt linked.

On both PC and PCH clients I can watch recording but Live TV now just returns back to the menu.

The only other difference I can see is that the PCH & PC Clients no no longer seems to buffer anything and wonder if this is why the live TV isnt working.

I have attached my logs.

thanks in advance
Steve

Help getting NMT to work with GB-PVR
Posted by: lschoeneman - 2009-07-22, 09:36 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (4)

Hi!

I've got GB-PVR working on my pc, but when I followed the "for dummies" thread, here is what I got

I ran the install, and I can get to the share on my nmt but all i get is a "mini" version of the screen and nothing seems to be able to play except for the tv guide.

Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any log files that'd help?
thanks
Larry
