  Comcast Conversion Problems Too
Posted by: Kulero - 2009-07-16, 02:42 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

I was using GBPVR just fine with Comcast analog and a Hauppauge PVR-150, but they're converting to all digital. I got a Comcast tuner (DTA - digital transport adaptor), hooked up and receiving signals with GBPVR on channel 3.

Now I need to be able to change channels with the 150's IR Blaster, and here I'm having problems. There are two parts: 1) Getting the IR Blaster to talk to the Comcast DTA. 2) Getting GBPVR to change channels with the IR Blaster.

#2 is perhaps easier, so let's do that first. If I'm not mistaken, in GBPVR Config I should set the recording Source to "Fixed-Channel, External Tuner" with Constant Channel 3. Which Channel Changer should I use? There's no option that seems appropriate for my PVR-150 (it's not MCE). Should I use ".exe Changer Plugin" with IRBControl.exe ?

But I can't test that until I get part #1 working.

BlastCfg has only one CodeSet for Comcast (0085), and it doesn't work for the DTA, a Dolby DC50X. I've verified the 150's IR receiver works; it can change channels in their WinTV (important since the Blaster uses the same connector). The blaster (transmitter) bud flickers when I test it with Blaster config, but it has no effect on the DTA. I can change channels on the DTA using its own remote control. Does anyone know how to change its channels using the IR Blaster? (I realize this issue has nothing to do with GBPVR, but it's what I use, and perhaps someone here has solved it. TIA!)

  UK satellite scan.cache
Posted by: Pob - 2009-07-15, 11:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Some silly little changes in video and audio pids on some channels today, so I have attached a scan.cache with the new E4, More4, etc settings.

Config.xml destroyed after a hard reset
Posted by: 7ore - 2009-07-15, 07:35 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I started a film and the mediaPC got totally locked.
I had to restart the pc the hard way, but after the restart I tried to start GB-pvr again but got unhandled exception.

So I opened config.xml - totaly ruined!
I attach it in a scares hope that it is possible to fix...
I doubt it is possible, so the secondary plan is to use an old file, I have one 6 months old, for 1.3.7, Can I use that one and just update the version number or how do I save the situation in the best way?

(When I'm done I will create an automated backup on the gbpvr-folder)

  Other status on login page
Posted by: SFX Group - 2009-07-15, 05:52 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (4)

Hi

I have my EWA setup to login, i notice there is also a guest account.

However is there a way (future request) to have something to either bypass the login (like a GUEST button) that then shows the status of the server, space left and basic no secure info and maybe allow other things like download of stuff recorded.

Or at least to have on the login screen to show the status of the GBPVR if its recording etc... and space left.

Maybe have a config page in the EWA location that says what this page shows etc...???

Problems setting up GBPVR under XP Pro +SP3
Posted by: softfoot - 2009-07-15, 05:34 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm a newbie to this so please be patient :-)

I have just spent most of the day installing and setting up GBPVR rev 1.3.11 with a Haupage Nova-S-Plus for use with the UK's FREESAT service.

I am using DVBGUIDE to capture the EPG and this seems to work OK and GBPVR seems able to load the resulting file OK and display channels.

However, when I click "map digital channels to EPG channels" it often crashes and takes everal attempts before it suceeds but the result is not very helpfull.

DVBGUIDE produces a seperate XML file with the mapping data in it (ie BBC1 is 101, etc) - is there no way that I can use this??

The second issue is what seems to be a common problem - missing multiplexor filters - the docs say that if I am running SP1 or above it already has one installed. I also have installed the WinTv app but MuxChecker finds nothing.

Despite this I can record OK and view Live TV from a client - looks very promising.

Any advise very welcome.

No sound with .ts file (Windows 7)
Posted by: McBainUK - 2009-07-15, 04:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (19)

I get no sound when playing a UK Freeivew recording in GB-PVR on Windows 7. I do get sound using WMP on the same machine.

sub Wrote:The decoders you need depend on what is in that specific .ts file. For DVB-T in the UK, you'd need an MPEG2 video decoder, and a MPEG1 Layer 2 audio decoder, exactly same as it would if you were recording to a .mpg or .dvr-ms file.
So I don't think it's the AAC codec problem discussed elsewhere.

Any ideas?

  unable to setup neflix watchnow
Posted by: sbrookjr - 2009-07-15, 03:59 PM - Forum: Netflix Watch Now - Replies (3)

I recently installed gbpvr on my system and I started playing around with and it seems to work. I'm running windows vista home on my system. I ran the all of the instructions to install the netflix watchnow plugin and I am able to enable the plugin under the config utility but I don't see it as a option that I can select when I start the gbpvr software. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone Using FreeNas +RAID as a Recordings Drive?
Posted by: bdgbill - 2009-07-15, 01:24 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (11)

My GBPVR machine has been running flawlessly for over a year so I thought I would have a go at screwing it up.

My only real problem with my current system is drive space. I'm using a 500GB drive that is almost always full. I often travel for a weeks at a time plus I have a bad habit of hording shows (175 Simpsons last time I looked).

I have a bunch of old P3 and P4 systems lying around and should be able to put together a box thats overkill for FreeNas. I would like to buy another 500GB drive and combine it with my existing 500GB drive in a RAID (0?) array to appear as a 1TB drive to GBPVR. Is anyone doing anything like this?

I have no experience with RAID. Do I need a RAID controller card or will FReeNas combine the drives on it's own?

BTW - I realise that RAID 0 is somewhat risky and if either drive fails I will lose the data on both but I'm ok with that (they are just TV shows).

Thanks

  Manual/Translation

Is this page still valid / relevant, I assumed the language features are built in to GB-PVR now?

I notice that last update was 2006!
