  client mode won't undo
Posted by: pBS - 2009-07-15, 12:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

when i set a machine for client mode, use it, then go back into config and set back to regular local capture card, it doesn't set the tcp part back to tcp://localhost:7968

so you end up with a system halfway between the two, looks like a local install, but tries to control the remote recording service! [and of course not working]

been this way for several releases so just hoping to bump it up for this next release..Smile

  Emuzed Angel II dual tuner losing video
Posted by: highestbid - 2009-07-15, 03:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

I have just bought an Emuzed Angel II dual tuner card off e-bay and set up my 1st gb-pvr. I really like the program but have an issue that I have not been able to tackle on my own. After about 5 minutes the video signal is lost. Dont matter if I am recording or watching live tv the sound continues but the video signal is lost. I dont know if I have something set up wrong or if I have just been sold a bad card. I can kill and restart and the picture shows back up immediately so I am hoping it is not the card. I have tried to scan the forum for every combo of terms I could think of and could not find a post that addressed this issue. Any ideas?

  HVR900H USB Terestrial Hybrid Stick
Posted by: Koas - 2009-07-15, 01:35 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

I have an hvr900h usb tuner stick.

I'm trying to run this on an Intel Pentium4, 2.8GHz, 4GB Ram on WinXP Pro with standard onboard graphics.

Due to the type of machine (Super Small Form Factor) there is no way i can put any cards in to help with the graphics performance (GPU etc).

What i want to know is:

1, is this machine just plain and simple, not good enough to do the job and i am fighting a loosing battle? (even though they do say P4 2.4Ghz to play and 2.8Ghz to record is ok)

2, this machine would perform ok, provided i had a decent graphics card?

or

3, is there a way to configure it in such a way using specific codecs etc etc that it will allow it to perform and do it's job with the correct kind of setup applied etc? (i have a lack of understanding here)

I have tried a few different programs (MediaPortal, PowerCinema, WinTV 7, GB-PVR) and i have found WinTV 7 performs the best/fastest. However, it does struggle to keep up and run smoothly still. Misses frames often and CPU clocks at 100%, fans spinning hard and meanwhile the 4GB RAM hardly gets touched.

I do want to use GB-PVR if i can get this to run nicely.

Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

  Skin plugin not working

I've just done a first time install of CS4. I found that the logos and channel names were overlapping in the guide and when I went to the plugin to customize it - I just get a blank screen (skin background).

  Via Unichrome and direct3d ???
Posted by: hbelanger - 2009-07-14, 03:09 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi All,

I've been trying to get a Via based system to do anyting usefull. Problem I'm having is that the only way to play any video type is with mplayer and direct3d. So I tried to use gbpvr as a front end with moviewiz but when I start the ext player mplayer complains it can't initialize direct3d. I'm assuming that gbpvr has exclusive lock on the video output.

So please tell me how all you Via users manage to get this working ?

Thanks

  DVD player issue
Posted by: darag2358 - 2009-07-14, 02:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I've had this problem pretty much from the beginning, through multiple versions of the software, so it is not dependent on the version. However, I'm currently running the latest.

When I'm watching a DVD and hit stop, it goes back to the main GBPVR menu like it should. However, at this point if I hit any button on the remote, the DVD starts up again. It doesn't matter what button I hit next, it takes me right back to the DVD. Then I hit stop again, takes me back to the menu, and I can navigate the menu fine.

Drives the wife crazy. Sometimes the kids will watch a DVD, hit stop, then take the DVD out. Then the next person to use the remote freezes the app up because it is trying to go back to the DVD, but there is no DVD in the drive.

Hope that makes sense. Any ideas? Like I said, I've been running multiple versions over the years and they all do the same thing, so it is not version specific.

  BDA.ini blank spaces causing "no channels found"
Posted by: JimF - 2009-07-14, 02:12 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I am not sure whether this relates to problems that others are having, so I will post it separately.

When I have upgraded the software and firmware in HDHomeRun recently, I have often gotten a "no channels found" during the subsequent Digital Channel Scan in GB-PVR. To make a long story short, I have found that something in this process (I am not sure what) is inserting extraneous blank lines in my BDA.ini file, and that is causing the failure.

For example, even though I created it with only one blank line between the sections, it ends up like this:
[SETUP-Main]

[Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-0]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-0
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1

[Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-1]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-1
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1

This prevents the scan from finding any channels for some reason. At any rate, I simply created the file without any spaces at all, and saved it as a "read only" file, and the problem is solved.

  VHS capture problem
Posted by: Chapon - 2009-07-14, 02:09 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I capture some old VHS recording via an ATI 550 capture card (coax). Picture and sound are great when displaying the fixed channel feed, but becomes corrupted (more than the original, wich is not so great but stable) at times. The same excerpts may look ok when recorded again.

Thank you

  Wiki links

While updating the wiki I've noticed a lot of links use full URLs instead of 'wiki links':

Code:
Full: [[http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Config/General | General Page ]] Wiki link: [[Config/General | General Page]]

Isn't it best to use wiki links as they're shorter and won't break if the wiki or gbpvr website is moved? Or have a missed a memo? Smile
