The digital service is subscription only, so, after reading a few threads here, and some googling, I've got a couple of questions before I rush ahead and buy stuff:
1. If I'll use the MultiDec plugins (and a card reader), do I need a tuner card with CI/CAM or is that just unnecessary?
2. I know the analogue cards convert the signal to mpg2 internally, but how does the digital cards work? I've read a lot about .ts files but that is the raw data, correct?
3. What would be the computer minimum requirements if I have two digital cards? Does it even matter much?
4. Any recommendations on what DVB-C tv-card to get? Since it's digital I'd imagine that the difference in image quality between the cheap and expensive cards is a bit less than for analogue cards?
Been a loyal GB-PVR user since 2005 and I've read almost all the treads before posting this one.
Several weeks ago my GB-PVR guide stopped updating from my EPG XML source: yapi2xml
I've tried various solutions including a fresh install of both applications, registry cleanups, etc...
Yapi2xml is downloading and it looks like pvrx2.exe is updating (I have yapi2xml write the xml file to the root to insure it's not a path issue). I update within config and within pvrx2.exe and still nothing.

Any ideas would greatly be appreciated as it's been weeks since I've been able to use GB-PVR
I just got a new DirecTV box so I am having to go from serial control to IR blasting with the MCE 2005 blaster. I installed and setup Hip with the MCE 2005 remote and I also had HIP learn the IR commands from the DirecTV remote. I then successfully tested the IR with HIP, the blaster would light up and the channel on DirecTV would change. However when using HIPsend the IR blaster does not light up and the channel does not change. What am I doing wrong or failing to set up?
I have (had) a completely functional GBPVR setup. I could record and watch HD and SD tv shows just fine. Then last night, I returned and found that I can no longer play recorded HD tv shows without major stuttering!
I hadn't changed any decoder settings. The files themselves are fine and play back without stuttering in VLC, just not in GBPVR or in Windows Media Player. I can watch HD TV shows without stuttering. The only things I can think of that changed between last night (when HD playback was working) and now is that I installed the most recent batch of Microsoft updates and that I checked off the deinterlacing option in the Nvidia Control Panel (I unchecked it just now to see if that was the cause of the stutter, but no dice). The stutter is such that both video and audio are stuttering and the GBPVR interface becomes less responsive (it takes a few tries to Esc/right click back out of the playback view).
I seem to have a lot of dormant entries in my gbpvr.db3 when I look at SQLite, and most of them seem to be from channels that I no longer watch (Unchecked channels in the Config).
Is there some way of flushing the database so that only entries which are valid for current channels, as well as existing recodded shows, are retained?
There are about 3133 entries in the db3 database, which seems a lot for 4 channels, 1~2 weeks epg max. Some I know are not assocaited with those channels.

Having some audio/video sync problems after uninstalling & reinstalling GB-PVR 1.3.11 (no/minimal problems before, now much more noticeable). Audio is typically .25-.5 seconds ahead of the video.
I've tried out several different audio/video codec combos for playback, but nothing really makes a difference. This occurs within GP-PVR and with WMP during playback of ATSC (Live digital TV) content. Video is recorded using DVR-MS (TS used to give me huge problems, so haven't even bothered w/ this install)
I'm not really sure what else I can try aside from what I've already tried w/ the codecs...any suggestions would be very appreciated!!!
Ok so i have been really interested to know if its worth testing Win 7 for GBPVR client use.
My tale begins with having one of the 780G board (Well its a 790GX so a little faster and 128mb sideport mem) and had major problems with XP and getting it to work right with my setup as a client. This related to the codec issues and getting playback smooth.
So on to Vista, and after tweaking with ATI setting and FFdshow setting i managed to get decently good playback and am mostly happy.
There are still some minor issues and wondering if there is any real gain or benefits to using Win 7 Vs. Vista
I get this message in the config ap when I try and scan for channels:
"Unable to start bda device (failed to locate configured capture device)"
I think it's because GB-PVR isn't looking for the Win7 drivers for the card. Attached a filtercheck log what is required to "add" the driver as one that can be used?
For the past few days I have had trouble submitting message replies, the board goes into a wait state and so I resubmit which give a duplicate message error but at least I am active again. I get this at work and home from different ISP, and in linux and Windows. Is anyone else seeing this?
During Live Tv there is slight blurring of movements. Typically people walking or making body movements.
Faster movements become more blurred.
Recordings are much more blurred on even slow movements.
I have tried the recordings on another pc and the result is the same.
I have stuck to defaults as much as possible.
Is this hardware or a software setting i have got wrong?
My config is:
Hauppauge WinTv PVR2 usb connected to Pentium 4 - 3.0Ghz HP notebook, 1 gig ram, 80gig hdd, Radeon 9100 vga, win xp pro SP3.
