  new[er] HIP setup instructions
Posted by: pBS - 2009-07-14, 08:02 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (21)

Hi, having problems setting up your HIP installation? double key presses with MCE remote? don't want to install a strange driver? no problem..not needed..Big Grin
Well, it's not as hard as it used to be, no alternate drivers needed, no double presses anymore either...Smile

You can have any remote you wish, or just use the MCE remote if you have one..
all MCE remotes can be set as remote #1,#2,etc. and you can tell windows to only respond to remotes with that number setup...HIP will see all of them regardless of that setting..WIndows' defaults are to listen to id#1, and all remotes come setup as id#1

There are 2 methods for disassociating a MCE remote with MCE, do either #1 or #2 below...
[when using a non-MCE remote, just skip to setting up HIP]

#1. Run this command...

Code:
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da" /v "CodeSetNum0" /t REG_DWORD /d "2" /f reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da" /v "CodeSetNum1" /t REG_DWORD /d "2" /f reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da" /v "CodeSetNum2" /t REG_DWORD /d "2" /f reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da" /v "CodeSetNum3" /t REG_DWORD /d "2" /f
as long as there's no CodeSetNum# with a value of 1 or 0 you're good to go..
if your remote itself is still set to id#1, you're all set...continue to hip setup..
Hip will learn codes from any remote including MCE ones and not send double keys..
To undo reg setting, just set back to '1' or '0'

Or, if you want to use 2 MCE remotes in same room, change the remote's id's:

#2. To set your MCE remote to a different remote id# :
"Press and hold the DVD Menu key on the remote then press a number button (1-8) for 5 seconds. Remotes with visible LED signal indicators will blink twice to confirm the change. "
Now your remote has the ID# of the number button you pressed after dvdmenu...Big Grin
Windows default is set to respond to id#1, so so now it won't use your remote for MCE operation, but it's still available to HIP...as long as you don't set it for id#1 windows will ignore it and hip will have full use of it..
you'll have to 're-learn' the codes in HIP as they are now changed!
[the signals the remote sends out are different]

As long as your remote id# and windows remote id# are different, you're set...windows will ignore it.[but not HIP] Smile

Pictures and brief HIP setup to follow...
just flushing out some layout here before adding to wiki..
works with vista supposedly too..
still have to check out mce dongles on win7.

I need a Vista user with mce dongle to test...

  VLC Streaming Update
Posted by: UncleJohnsBand - 2009-07-14, 02:45 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (3)

It appears the the latest version of VLC (1.0) can now correctly handle H264 encoding for streaming.

If anyone wants to have a go at it post your results back here.

I have been using it tonight and I have not had any issues.

Thanks.

  Asus PE9400 Recording Analog Audio Problem
Posted by: blocke00 - 2009-07-14, 01:01 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I recently purchased an Asus PE9400 to use with my new computer. I have the most recent drivers. I can get it to work with the provided software (Arcsoft TotalMedia 3.5) and it records and plays just about anything. Yet the features of GBPVR are much better overall (its almost necessary that I have the Schedule Direct epg). Yet, I have run into a problem.

I record a show in GBPVR and if it is coming from one of the QAM channels I have no problems, even in HD. Sound and Picture are both clear. Yet when I try to record analog, I get a pulsing hiss over the entire recording. This does not happen in TotalMedia. I am assuming it is some sort of codec issue and I've set GBPVR to use the codecs from TotalMedia. This worked, for the first recording and only for the first time that I played it in GBPVR and VLC. Then, as if part of some cruel joke, the hissing came back on the file that just played clear. None of my other videos do this. I have attempted to play it in both gbpvr and vlc and they both get a hiss after both not having it before. I'm at a loss really.

Also, this CAN happen with a digital recording if I don't play it from inside GBPVR. If I attempt to open a ts file in vlc I get the same hiss.

I am using the most recent version of GBPVR (1.3.11). If you need any other information please let me know. I will attach my logs. I'm assuming its a codec problem, yet I don't know how to fix it.

  Mute and volume behaviour with Remote
Posted by: DrSoftware - 2009-07-13, 11:49 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm have a Nova-T-500 with remote receiver and am using a Logitech Harmony remote set up to emulate the Hauppauge 43 button remote.

With the following in IRRemote.ini the OSD volume control is displayed but pressing the Up/Down volume buttons does nothing:

VOLUP=+
VOLDOWN=-

With the following in IRRemote.ini the OSD volume control doesn't appear at all but the remote successfully controls the volume, I suspect this is bypassing GB-PVR and some other app is controlling the volume.

VOLUP={app(0xa0000)}
VOLDOWN={app(0x90000)}

The following doesn't do anything at all:

VOLUP={OemPlus}
VOLDOWN={OemMinus}

Has anyone had any joy getting the OSD working with the volume control and mute?

  Help with Win-TV HVR-950q.Please
Posted by: jocoman - 2009-07-13, 06:35 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (10)

I am trying to configure this source.
I can get the analogue going, but no digital.
I update my epg, scan the channels and then map.
When i go to play, it tries to display but it can't .
I get a message that says "no signal detected".
That's BS, I have loads of signal. It also found the channels when it scanned.
Not sure where to look but would appreciate some help.
Currently I have configured as a digital source only on a fresh install in XP SP3.

Thanks in advance.

Jim

  Temporarily Disable Comskip "Auto Skip Commercials"
Posted by: LewE - 2009-07-13, 11:50 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

I have Comskip configured to run after each program is recorded and GBPVR to automatically skip past commercials when playing back recorded programs.

Occasionally, Comskip will incorrectly mark program material as commercials so during playback it is skipped over. Currently, the only way to be able to see that portion of the program is to stop playing back the recording, run CONFIG (assuming that no programs are being recorded at the time) and uncheck "Auto Skip Commercials" on the Misc Tab, and then go back to PVRX2 to watch the recording, and then after watching the program go back to CONFIG and set the Auto SKip Commercials parameter.

It would be nice to be able to disable this parameter setting during playback so if, when playing back a recording it is apparent that Comskip was overly aggressive in its processing, the user could click on an option to not skip commercials during the playback of the current recording but still be in effect for any subsequent recorded programs you watch.

  Disable mouse actions
Posted by: NumberFive - 2009-07-13, 11:27 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Is it possible to disable mouse actions on PVRX2.

I use it in a small window on my office computer and frequently accidentally scroll over the PVRX2 window, changing the channel.

Could there be a tick box in the config app for this, so only keyboard actions are recognised?
