I know video libraries and recording are hip, but I use the picture library functionality of gbpvr a lot, and I find it very poor.
I wanted to ask if it is continues being developed? are there improvements planned?
My picture library is large - since 2006. The list of folders is long. I know I can arrange it differently, but that's a big hassle, I'd prefer the picture library to be able to index it in various ways other than directories/file names.
Also, displaying a folder full of pictures is extremely slow. Compared to explorer, or any other picture browser, it does not make sense. All these tools prepare thumbnails, why is gbpvr doing it the slowest of them all?
Many questions, I hope to have a meaningful thread.

I recently started using GB-PVR (v1.3.11) and am having difficulty with the channels on a certain frequency. For reference, this is with a Hauppauge HVR-1600 on cable. The channels in question are all on 5.x, aka 79MHz. Both WinTV and TSReader can tune to and watch them just fine; they are indeed clear QAM channels. GB-PVR, however, does not pick them up in the channel scan and if added manually using either the frequency or channel equivalent, I get nothing but a message from GB-PVR stating the channels are encrypted.

I have the latest version of gb-pvr. When I go into guide and i am at a lower number and want to get to a higher one I usually hold the down key until i get to the channel I want. However if Ipush the button all the way down it starts the tv on the last channel I was on. if i only push the button down halfway it works fine. I have a normal keyboard and don't see why it should do this. I would appreciate any explanation of why it does this.
I've seen this twice in the last couple of days. When using the pause key to pause a recording for a time longer than my hibernate time for the server - the server hibernates. This upsets the PCH and recovery is a bit hit and miss how much needs doing.
I'm sure it didn't use to do this in the past and I'm sure I used to leave it in pause for half an hour or so without the server nodding off.
The above with PCH in PCH2 mode if that has any bearing on it.
I'm trying to get rid of some old channels that still show in all areas of GBPVR (I've removed them from the TV guide, but the still are shown in the digital mapping when configuring capture sources and some other places in GBPVR). I was planning to do this by deleting all 3 capture sources based on Sub's suggestions (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=40946). However, doing this deletes all my reoccurring recordings...a real problem this time of year as many of these do not currently appear in the EPG because we are not in the active TV season so I can not even re-program them manually.
I saw suggestions for getting around this here (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=29008), but it does not seem to work for me...I still lose all the reoccurring recordings (perhaps I'm doing something wrong...I empty the EPG via command line, open the config utility and delete the tuners, close then reopen the config utility, reinstall the tuner, update the epg via the tuner configuration screen, then map digital channels, then close the config utility and open PVRX2 and use the system utility to update...should I do this differently).
I've even tried exporting the old database's RECORDING_SCHEDULE table with SQLite Browser as a cvs and then reimporting into the new database (deleting and reconfiguring the tuners)...but then I can not even enter the Recordings utility in PVRx2 (I'm guessing there is either a formatting issue or the ID numbers fail to match other tables in the database).
Is there a better way to get rid of these extra channels without losing these reoccurring recordings? Anyone have suggestions?
i desparately need to get gbpvr working with PC clients...
with streaming - mpg files work great, both for live TV and recordings, but not TS files.
with fileshareing - ts files work great, both for live tv and recordings (depending on quality), but not mpg files.
I have one digital source (clear QAM) and two analog sources (ATSC tuner and S-video for cable box with channel changer).
Is there a way so that I can force all the recordings to be .mpg or .ts regardless of the tuner source? This way I can setup all the clients as streaming or filesharing, respectively.
I'm trying to access the web UI, which I used all the time before a reinstall. This current install is quite fresh (only did it two weeks ago) and isn't that cluttered, so i'm totally perplexed why it isn't working.
I go to http://localhost:6768 and i get connection refused. I turned off the firewall and antivirus, still the same thing. I can connect to my DVB-Viewer web UI just fine, with no issues at all.
The GB-PVR log files don't show anything at all either.
Any thoughts on where else to look? Do I need to install some other software to get it running? (it's been a while since I've done all this)

You can open the attached .ZIP file for XP or Vista and save “XviD 2-Pass.bat” to “C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\Third Party” for Windows XP or to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Devnz\GBPVR\Third Party” for Windows Vista. This file has all the settings needed to encode using XviD.
The rest of these directions will be for Windows XP. If you use Windows Vista, change “Program Files” to “Program Files (x86)”.
Now you will need to go to “C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR”. Right-click once on “config.xml” then left-click once on OPEN WITH > NOTEPAD.
Once “config.xml” is open in NOTEPAD, scroll down to the section called “<CustomFFmpegConversions>”. You will see a list of conversion types. You will need to add the following in the same way the others are listed...
Now close NOTEPAD and be sure to save the changes you made when asked.
That command links to the .BAT file you saved earlier to the “Third Party” folder.
Now you will need to open the CONFIG for GB-PVR double-clicking on “Config.exe” in “C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR”.
Go to the PROCESSING tab. Change “Auto-Convert MPG recordings to:” to “XviD 2-pass”. You can change the other two drop-down options there to the same if you like. Click OK to save the change.
Now when you record a program, HandBrake will convert it to an XviD .AVI file.
I'm coming to think I'd really like an "on error, reboot" or something from gbpvr.
Devcon showed nothing wrong with the device when it came out of hiibernation (I've been running that to try to spot failures) but the next time devcon runs, after the gbpvr error, it does show an error
