Playback problems - bad pans, bad news ticker and lipsync out
Posted by: McBainUK - 2009-06-22, 09:34 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (38)

After spending way to much time trying to get decent playback in GB-PVR. Does anyone have a sure-fire method on how to get good playback of .ts files (from UK DVB-T 'Freeview' source) with Windows XP (SP2) and an ATI HD4350.

After trying all codecs I can think of I've just cannot get good quality playback without one of or all of the problems in the thread title. I'm starting too think theyre maybe something other then codecs effecting this. Even VLC seems out of sync on the .ts files and even downloaded AVIs!

Help much appreciated  Sad

  Hardware MPEG2 directly to Xvid
Posted by: clubrulz - 2009-06-22, 06:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I have a Hauppauge HVR - 1600 card and would like my final output to be in Xvid format.

Is it possible to start the transcoding while the file is still recording?
Does anyone know of any plugin that can do this?

The reason I ask is I have a DVD player with USB host drive, but it cannot only support 2500 kbs files. An MPEG2 file at 2500 kbps looks like garbage, but the 2500 kbps Xvid file looks great! I would like to be able to record a show at 8:00 and watch it at 9:00 not have to wait until the transcode is done at around 10:00.

  Video Libary Resume
Posted by: steveum - 2009-06-22, 05:06 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (1)

I just upgraded to the latest mvpmcx2 last week. I am little rusty on the GBPVR style of video navigation. It has been about a year since I got my PCH and shelved the MVP.

Is there anyway to resume on items in the video library? I have seen references to a "video library resume OSD". What is this and how do I access it?

no sound or video but everything else working!
Posted by: jaysum - 2009-06-22, 04:12 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

have latest version 1.3.11 of gbpvr working with my hauppauge mvp. the mvp finds the gbpvr server and displays the gui great. i can see all my music albums with cover art, see lists of films, browse my pictures and even catch a local weather forecast.

however, if i play a MP3 i can't hear it, and if i play a movie, i can't hear or see it.

definately no a tv set up thing as i can kill gbpvr and run the hauppauge services and it works fine (all be it crap, there is sound and video).

so i've tried every codec in the list on my pc with no joy. do i need to get hold of specific codec, and if so where from/where do i place it?

any advice much appreciated.

  License?
Posted by: geoff07 - 2009-06-22, 12:08 PM - Forum: Forum Issues & Documentation - Replies (4)

I'm curious about GBPVR, having tried Mythtv and now using mediaPortal. I understand that part of it is proprietary. Unfortunately I have not been able to find out any information about who owns the rights or under what licence terms is the code offered. Perhaps I have just not looked in the right place. However, the license is quite important to know about. Can anyone explain or point me in the right direction?

  HDPVR and channel change bug
Posted by: DreadFury - 2009-06-22, 03:57 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hey everyone, LONG TIME lurker here.

I read quite awhile ago here on the forums about the known bug with the HDPVR and channel changes locking up the HDPVR and services.
(sub said something along the lines of forgetting to finish a routine in the code)

sub -

You said you have fixed this problem already and the fix would be available in the next release.

I have been waiting patiently, but I now am compelled to leave "lurking" status and join "posting" status on the forum, to ask:

Will the new version be out anytime soon?
if not, would it be possible to release the fix for the HDPVR as a patch?

The fact that it locks the unit up and requires a reboot (sometimes an entire server reboot as well as the unit itself) has destroyed the waf on my setup.

Unfortunately, trying to tell the wife not to change channels is hurting the waf even more..

any help?

Thanks a million sub, your hard work is appreciated far and wide, I hope you never get sick of hearing about it. =)

  HDHR add channels problem
Posted by: Ranger One - 2009-06-21, 09:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have two HD Homerun units setup for QAM channels for a total of 4 QAM tuners, along with a couple of Hauppauge cards for ATSC & standard cable channels. I use Schedules Direct for my guide info.

I have no problem setting up the QAM channels that I have enabled on Schedules Direct on all 4 QAM tuners in GBPVR. Ex: WGRZHD maps to channel 702, WUTVHD mappes to channel 706 which is how it is supposed to be. The guide in GBPVR shows this correctly.

Now the problem: I have 8 QAM channels that are not included in the SD guide. When I go into GBPVR config & manually add these channels into each of the 4 QAM tuners (using the same channel numbers for each; 801, 802 etc) I then get multiple listings in GBPVR for the channels I added.

I'm trying to get the "added channels" setup in GBPVR (ie:CBLTDT channel 801) just like the ones that are mapped thru the SD guide like WGRZHD is setup on channel 702 in the GBPVR guide & that works that way with all four tuners.

Right now the "added channels" are listed 4 times for each channel in GBPVR.

Is there a certain order in GBPVR config when setting up the QAM tuners ( & adding these extra channels) that would eliminate the extra listings for the added channels & each channel would be available to each tuner?

Or do I have to manually edit the gbpvr.db3 file? That is something I would prefer not to do!!

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!
