I had been using GBPVR on a XP machine with a PVR150 tuner and 3 MVPs for years with no problems. I just replaced my XP machine with a Vista Ultimate 64-bit PC. I need some guidance on getting GBPVR & MVP working under this new platform.
I'm confounded by all the acronyms as I search the forum.
Can anybody give me some short explanations for:
MVPMC ?
NMT ?
Dongle.bin ? (GBPVR's Config says dongle.bin not compatible w/ Vista. What does that mean - do I need a "dongle"?)
Any tips on how to get this all working?
What I've done so far:
- noticed that Vista 64 had native driver for PVR150 tuner card - is that ok?
- installed Hauppauge's MVP software (2/2007 release I believe).
- installed latest GBPVR software.
My MVPs are unable to contact the server. My Vista PC is set to use same IP address as old XP PC. Do I need to disable Vista's firewall or just add an exception to it?
I do not see MediaMVP processes running like I would under XP, even though I defined 2 MVPs in GBPVR's Config utility. Does it functuion differently in Vista? Maybe this is a "dongle" thing?
I've looked through the documentation, and found a sentence on this subject that says:
"Otherwise, you would have to cancel a specific episode every day until the time has passed."
Is there really no way to cancel season recordings once they are set? It's driving me crazy having all these shows that I've decided I don't want on my list. Can I dig around in the config file and change a setting?
What's even worse is that I don't have a reliable set of listings here, so cancelling an episode does not usually register, because it usually lacks a subtitle.
I have a new installation with a Pinnacle 7010i (only using satellite section). I have got it working by selecting the similar BlackGold card since the 7010 is not in the list. I have selected the relevant Astra 2A etc sender.
The first couple of scans caused the app to crash part way through, but the last scan completed without incident. The problem is that it misses a vital channel (10773 H) from the scan list and thus doesn't see (for me) the most important BBC multiplex! This channel is definitely receiving 100% on my dish (since I get it fine in other apps) so I can only imagine that it is missing from the scan database for Astra in GBPVR. It seems to be the only missing multiplex.
Any other Freesat users to throw some more light on this?
This card doesn't appear in the config list. The similar BlackGold card does, and selecting this appears to enable the Pinnacle, so perhaps the work to add it to the list would be minimal?
I am setting up a media pc with 3 tuners (2 pinnacle HDTV PCI cards and 1 Hauppage WinTV 1250 PCIE card). The problem I am having is getting the tuners set up in GBPVR. I have been able to get GBPVR to scan channels on the Hauppage card, but when it scans the Pinnacle cards, it doesn't find any channels.
My system:
Asus M3N78-VM Mainboard, AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 5600+ processor,
4GB memory (3GB reported), WinXP SP3, tuner cards as listed above, using Pinnacle TV Center Pro for Pinnacle cards (okay program) & GBPVR for Hauppage Card (seems to be better program but I have limited use at this time).
I am not sure if my problem is a configuration issue, codec, hardware, or signal issue. I've looked up and down the forums, and used the fixes in the survival guide.
When (my wife) plays certain shows, they intermittantly jump into fast forward mode, or stop playing.
I just upgraded to a new system in Jan. for the ATSC conversion, and now it's intermittant.
After purchasing a better video card, ATI HD3450, I can playback with little CPU usage most shows. Even the shows which fault have low resource use. I've got a 2.5Ghz, 768MB RAM, and XP, and it worked excellent in the analog realm.
I've posted my log folder, maybe something can be decoded from it. I've also tried to playback the faulted recordings in WinTV, VLC, and WMPclassic, and all fail. I've tried all different playback codecs and none work when the fault occurs.
Maybe I could post a segment of the latest video to megaupload with the fault? Right now it's a 92 min 13.451GB TS file, which first faults at the 3:00 minute mark. I'm not sure how much to cutchunk to get a good sample, or how to parse this file and check it for (signal) errors.
Hi all,
I am having the weirdest problem! Today, I was watching a show using gbpvr. After the show was done I was deleted it and then GBPVR froze up. So I left it sit for a while, to which it exited out of the recordings screen and went to the main menu. Now if I try to go to either the recordings screen or tv guide I get two very different issues:
If I go to the recordings screen GBPVR draws the screen and then exits back to the main menu as fast as it draws it.
If I go to the tv guide I get an unhandled exception due to an invalid date string and the program then crashes.
This is really strange due to the fact that prior to watching and deleting this show it worked great! Since then I have tried to repair/uninstall/reinstall GBPVR with the same results. Any ideas?
dave
ps. The logs I have included are from after the uninstall and reinstall. I should have the logs from right after I deleted show but I would have to go and get them off of the machine.
This is a general question regarding anybody's experience and/or success with Firewire capable set top boxes from cable companies into GBPVR. Specifically USA Comcast folks.
What boxes work?
What do they provide? (Signal thru Firewire or just channel change.)
How'd you do it?
I'd love to step up the cable box abilities in my home.
The ability to set my slideshow/music to random. I have seen other posts which say to install plugin X or software Y and hope it works - I'd rather have something built in. Oh, and the ability to loop music and photos.
Ability to adjust the size of the font and window in config. I have a old TV with the font size cranked up as large as I can, however I am unable to adjust the font size for windows like config. I've found a workaround by using the magnifier. Also, If the config window scrolled, that would be great!
Move the cancel button away from the close button in the recordings section. They are right next to each other, and I've hit them by accident more than once. (Yes, I've already found the check box in config for the extra "are you sure..." window, thank goodness!) In general it would great if I could move any of those buttons around if I want. Another button I have a hard time with is play & resume. I'd love for resume to be on top.
To be able to remove the exit button from the main menu without the bug monster getting me.
