So yes, I still have only the MVP. Since I only have SD sets, and Analog cable, things have been good enough for me.

First, the Alpha dongle from September of 2008 is still the final release for the MVP, correct?

Second, My GBPVR server IP changed. (Extended power outage) When I used to turn on my MVP with the the MVPMC dongle, it would boot straight into emulation mode. Now it doesn't. My server used to be 192.168.1.104, now it's 192.168.1.102. Now when I power on the MVP, it boots to the MVPMC menu, then if I click the Emulation mode button, it starts right into GBPVR

I've tried to update the config.xml file, and I've tried playing with the menu on the MVPMC dongle screen.

Last question. I'm running Vista. Is the correct MUX for me to be using the "TS MUX". I've been having alot of "skipping" problems. (I'm now running a E8400 DualCore 3Ghz, 4Gb of ram, and 7200RPM SATA drive in SATA mode, I used to run a P4 2.0Ghz 2GB of RAM, 7200RPM IDE drive, and I didn't have this problem.)

Hello, I just bought a adesso arc-1100 remote control to use with my gbpvr setup and I've run into a issue with it. The remote basicly mimics a keyboard. For instance pressing play on the remote is sending the command ctrl-p. From what I can gather the remote uses the default key mappings for windows media player and some of the buttons don't work in gbpvr. For instance the pause button doesn't work because its sending ctrl-p instead of ctrl-q. Is there some place in the config file or else where in gbpvr that I could change the keyboard mappings so that for instance ctrl-p would pause instead of ctrl-q so that the pause button on my remote would work? There are a few other keys that I would need to remap as well but for the most part the other buttons work.

#2 Nova-T tuner 2
#3 Nova-HD-S2

Some of the channels set in my guide are on all 3 tuners ( common ones like BBC ITV etc )
Other movie / HD channels are only available on the #3 tuner

The devices are listed in the order above but gbpvr were prefers to use the #3 Tuner ( for unknown reasons)
I tried disabling BBC 1 channel on #3 , and it then reverts to using #2 !!!! ???
I then disabled BBC1 from #2 , and it then used #1 ( finally )

The problem has only surfaced in the last day , before that it would use them in order ( except obviously when the channel is only available on #3 )

Any idea how to fix this ? or force it to use tuner #1 or #2 first

I've been using GBPVR since version 97.

And for the most part I've been able to browse the forums and find what I want.

Now I'm in a quandry. I've done reconfiguration, database vaccuuming, XML updates numerous ways... and finally I want to ask:

What's the simplest way to use GBPVR to simply record a show, comskip/clean, rename the file to season/episode name, and convert it to xvid format around 350mb per 1h episode?

I've manually called Comskip and Comclean from the postprocessing.bat. That worked well but I was using ffmpeg command line that didn't make the cleanest video copy.

I've downloaded Statics Autotranscodecut utility and that really seems to work well. The problem I'm having with it is I can't seem to get the files to rename season/episode#

I've gotten sick of going in and making adjustments and tweaks, so I uninstalled GBPVR, and reinstalled it from scratch. Right now I have the UpdateEPG.bat working just fine. I'm also using Zehd's UltraXML2 to bring in more show data.

What I'm stuck on is getting the shows to comskip/clean/transcoded, then renamed.

I've tried renaming first but I'm not familiar enough with the coding to understand where I'm going wrong. Hopefully someone here can explain to me the simple mistake I'm making.

I have my GB PVR set up on an old computer in my basement and usually just copy the file to my USB stick to watch on my home theatre. This worked great until I tried a 2 hr program (5.8 GB) and the USB stick being only 4 GB created a problem. So my question is: Is there any place in the GB PVR settings to control the size of the output file? Say I was recording a hockey game, could I set the file size to 2 GB and then just have 4 - 2GB files created?

Installed MovieWiz, did the initial setup where I specified the dir to search, then did the import with the option enabled to just search the dirs I specified, and it works great.

Rip some new dvds, and in pvrx2 MovieWiz, go down to "import" option... and it says I have 200+ new items imported. Uhoh.... Check and it seems like it imported all the new recordings from gbvpr, not the 2 new DVDs.

Weird. So I go back into the config thing for moviewiz, clean up all the junk (tedious!) make sure the settings are right, re-do the scan THERE and it just finds the new DVDs. Cool. Thinking I must have gotten a setting wrong, I tried the import option again a few days later from pvrx2, and it did the exact same (incorrect) thing.

Grrr. Going back into the settings AGAIN I notice that the radio button selecting where to look for new material seems to revert to c:\, not the last option (my locations) - maybe this is why?

Anyway, it would be REALLY handy if the import option only checked in my locations, not wherever its checking now

I am new to EWA but WOW this is an amazing tool. I am mainly interested in the streaming portion with ewa because I travel allot and I am not able to watch all of my local sports teams, so the streaming feature is a very attractive feature for me.

I have it all working... No problem with ports, able to log in, all of that. I am even able to stream...BUT only at very low qualities. Low res and low bit rate.

My provider speed is 17Mb/s down and a steady 3-4Mb/s up during the day and sometimes near 6 at night. I am however running a 10/100 Linksys wireless wrt54g router, running ddwrt firmware, wired for the htpc. I am running vlc 8.6 on both ends

My remote client location has a 16Mbs down speed...

I don’t think network bandwidth is problem considering I move about a gig of data from one machine to another on the same network in about 10-15 min. I host my own ftp off of the same network and I get consistent transfers in both directions of 100k-275k/sec on a regular basis.

I feel like it may be a setting issue with vlc or something. I have tried many variations of settings, read thru the forums and used the recommended settings etc.

I was wondering if anyone could share what quality they successfully and consistently stream with.

I can successfully stream at wmv2 512, 320x213, audio mp4 64k 1 ch, with an occasional break in the stream, I assume buffering.

If I go any higher in the resolution, or bitrates the video plays for a second or two....stops, acts as if it is buffering for 30 seconds, then vlc minimizes as if no file is open. WMP does the same thing. Kind of strange I thought.

I would like to be able to get the video up to the LAN bitrate and 480x320 without any problems. It is just hard to see the numbers/scores on such low resolution/bitrate.

Thoughts anyone?

Just got my Hardware to make my HTPC and after googling a lot and reviewing all kind blogs and web pages, decided to choose GBPVR.
Installed XP Media Center SP3 and using HVR1600.
I have a copy of PowerDVD 8 and also plan to Install WMP 11 and CCCP.
So before installing gbpvr need someone to explain or help me understanding what is all the Buzz about video/audio decoding?
Am I covered with the above applications installed or Do I need more?

Can someone please point me to a guide or How-To get rid of all that annoying microsoft-babysitting-security in Vista, all that "do you really want to do this" asking is killing my patience.
