Sometime in the near future, I'm going to upgrade my box from 512 MB of RAM to 2 GB, but until then, I would like to be able to make the GBPVRRecordingService.exe NOT start with my Windows XP Pro SP2 machine.
I cannot find anything in the Config tool to make this not start with Windows and I also cannot find anything in the System Configuration Utility of Windows that makes it not start with Windows. In the System Config Utility, there's only an option called GB-PVR Tray.
I unchecked that, but after looking in Process Explorer, I see that GBPVRRecordingService.exe is still starting with Windows.
I even do a search on Google and no answers from there.
Also, I know that this is not really a big deal, but until I upgrade my limited RAM, I'd like to NOT have to go into Process Explorer each time my system is started.
I'm new to gbpvr. I just bought a MEDIAMVP (wireless/flash version). I was able to get Mediamvp to boot up gbpvr. But when I try to click on "net radio" MEDIAMVP reboots and says, it can't locate the GUI server but eventually returns back to the first GBPVR screen.
Has anyone seen this error before?
I also get the same error when I try playing a stream through Ubustream but I think that's expected since ubustream channel mode does not work with PVRX2.
Is there a way to video online video through the MEDIAMVP?
I'm running windows vista ultimate. I finished the installation of windows media center a few nights ago and now all of the programs that gbpvr records have huge file sizes and nothing on my computer can play them. Even if I record a few minutes it's a hundreds of megs and unreadable. The other mpegs recorded earlier are just fine and can be read and displayed by windows. I can still watch live tv without a problem... only the recorded programs in gbpvr aren't working.
I'm guessing it's done something to the codecs.. but I have no idea where to begin to solve this problem.
Hi there team. We are shortly moving to Sydney from NZ, and I would really appreciate some advice from people in Sydney who have successful GBPVR based setups.
I'm really interested in the best EPG options, I currently use xmltvnz which has been rock solid here. My initial research threw up bigs cans of worms just in the sheer variety of similar Aussie solutions. I see the commercial option in ICETV, but is there a reliable free grabber?
The tuning etc should be pretty straightforward, so really the EPG I could use some help with. I think I'll try and stick with GBPVR as the family has come to love it, so the easier it is for me to transition the better.
I am getting frustrated I have been trying for almost a week to get everything working with MVPs. I am moving my GBPVR computer to another room away from my home theater setup and want to use a MVP. I am using GBPVR 1.3.11 and the mvpmc-20080930 dongle bin with a Hauppauge 1600 using the digital side. All of my recordings are TS files the video is fine but the audio is off. I have read so many post that my eyes hurt and I still can't get it right. Can someone post a setup that works. What dongle bin? What video decoder? What Audio decoder?
SearchWizX2 is a great plugin. Congratulation to the author!
I found this little bug however:
Scrolling up the search result listing, by pressing the Up arrow or
Page Up, causes SearchWizX2 to close to the main page. From then
on it will not work normally until PVRX2 is restarted. I also
noticed that when the plugin is about to close, the title
description at the bottom of the page is gone.
To avoid this bug I need to scroll the result listing down only.
To scroll up I must exit the listing (return to the left pane)
then re-enter and scroll down again.
First of all I would like to say that I'm amazed with this GBPVR software. I set it up with a HdHomerun ATSC tuner, xmltv and a few plugins and I have been using it for a while now. The initial set up work (epg, mpeg decoder, multiplexer, etc) was a little tricky but I can say that I now have a full featured working HD-PVR on my laptop!
This is the first of two bugs I would like to report here: LiveTV works very well until I use the escape button to exit to the main menu. From then on, it appears to be impossible to get the tuner signal again when I re-enter LiveTV. The only thing I get is a "No signal detected" message or something like that. In fact I need to quit PVRX2 and restart it to get LiveTV working again. I got used not to touch the escape button but to use the backspace button instead which keeps the TV image on in a smaller window.
I logged the activity while triggering the problem (log files attached). Hope someone sees something.
Just updated my W 7000 to RC1 and usually since I've kept GBPVR on another drive, usually reinstalls are simple. Not this time. Started from scratch but trying to get live tv to play on some channels doesn't work. Whether clicking Live TV or using the guide to view certain channels, I get nothing. Other channels work as they should (this is all analog I'm talking about).
Once I get a channel to work I can then change channels to the ones that won't work if you try them first.

I'm looking to see if GBPVR will allow me to browse my video library and add a marker to any file, to indicate that a particular individual has watched it.
Currently, I'm just using the free Xplorer2 file browser, in Details view with the Comments field visible. In the comments we put the initials of those people who have already watched it (Xplorer2 makes it easy with a quick ALT-Z) , i.e. "ap" would mean that Ariana and Pete have both watched this video. This is REALLY useful, as it keeps track of what episodes each person is up to, and when you're by yourself, you may choose to watch something that your partner has already seen, leaving more choice for when you watch things together.
We also have a convention putting any paused position in brackets after the person's initial, e.g. "a(23)p(37)" would mean that Ariana has watched this up to the 23 minute and Pete the 37 minute. This helps when anyone comes back to finish watching a movie or episode. [We don't actually do it, but Ratings could also be stored like this, e.g. "a[4]" meaning Ariana watched it and rated it a 4.]
Storing this info in the file's Comments field ( which is saved in an Alternative Data Stream) means that we can also move the file around to other drives or machines (backups, to the van's laptop, etc) and the info travels with it. And viewing the server-located file from any machine on the network exposes the Comments info too, without needing any client-server database sync.
(Aside: In order to supports the Comments field, files can not have an .avi extension (I'm not sure why?). I just mass-rename .avi files to .mp4 extension, and my preferred VLC player plays them fine.)
I haven't yet found a media player that can meet these requirements as effectively as a simple file-based explorer like Xplorer2. What about GBPVR?
I'm using the Hauppauge PVR 500 dual tuner card. I'm unable to get the second tuner to show what I have connected to it, all it is showing is what is connected to the first tuner. I have followed all the directions from the wiki and am confident both deceives were installed correctly (both show up in the config and detector and the board numbers match the device type detector.) I would prefer to use a manual EPG. I've been trying to get this to work for several hours today trying every possible combination of settings I can think of with no luck. Has anyone had a similar problem or have any ideas on what I can do?
