Since the upgrade (both mvpmcx2 and Subs GBPVR patches) I am no longer able to play files with hebrew charachters (basically all our kids movies :eek on neither of my PCHs. I've tried both avis and mpegs but the GBPVR application freezes and requires a restart. I was able to play these files before. I have also restored to the old mvpmcx2 but to no avail. I have not restored the GBPVR updates.

The files play just fine directly from the PCHs.

If you want to try to recreate the problem you can rename any of you movies with the filename below.

I know this has been requested before, I just want to beg a bit again.

Please show in-progress recordings under "What's New", either instead of or in addition to showing them in the Pending list.

Two primary reasons:

1. The more obvious reason is that a show being recorded is in fact watchable in most cases, and is by definition 'New'. If you check your recordings list to see what's available to watch now, it's silly to have to check both "What's New" and "Pending".

2. The less obvious reason, but the reason I'm begging again for this change, is that I occaisionally (say twice a month) have a tuner get stuck on a recording; once this happens no other scheduled recordings will happen until I notice the problem and restart the recording service. It's sometimes days before I notice the stuck recording, since I don't usually go into "Pending". If it showed whatever was being recorded in "What's New", I or someone else would notice within a few hours that the same show that ended hours ago is always listed as "Recording" and then something could be done about it sooner.

If there are likely to be people who would NOT want "Recording" shows listed in "What's New", then perhaps this could be a choice with a config.xml tag?

I wanted to throw out a heads up to anyone that may be interested that the next release of EWA will contain a secured web services interface. This stemmed out of some discussion on providing a Silverlight based interface for EWA.

Services will include:
[INDENT]TV Guide - Can filter date range and genre
Schedule Programme
GView Programme/Schedule Detail Info
Manage Recordings
Delete recorded programme or scheduled proramme
Search (including saved search functionality interface)

[/INDENT]I am close to being ready to beta this out. Anyone that is interested in developing new interfaces into GBPVR can use the web services as a way to develop something in Java, .Net, Silverlight or anything that can consume/work with web services.

I will include a windows based app that allows you to interact with the web services....should just need to update a config file with the location of your GBPVR server and your userid and password and it should work. It is very rudimentary and is really just to validate that you can connect and interact with the services on your GBPVR server as well as showing an example of how to interact with the services.

If you are interested in testing this out just post a response in this thread and let me know.

I don't know if this has been posted here or not, but a quick search did not turn up anything. So I thought I would post something in the hope of making life easier for somebody.

It seems certain combinations of characters in the filename will prevent the video from playing within GB-PVR. Below is one example:

would not play: Transformers[2007].TS.Eng.DivX-LTT.avi
will play: Transformers.avi
will play; Transformers[2007]-LTT.avi

So far, I have not figured out exactly what combination of characters it is in the first filename that GB-PVR does not like.

Anyhow, if GB-PVR refuses to play a video that will play in WMP, rename it and see it that helps.

I've been using GB-PVR for about 3 years with great success but I've finally ran into something I can't solve. I had to rebuild the computer hosting GB-PVR this weekend (latest version) and I can't get the Schedules Direct EPG to update. My subscription is good until June and I even signed up for a new test login to make sure there wasn't some problem with my existing subscription but I can't get either one to update. The exact error is:

Your EPG Source does not appear to be configured correctly. Please check the EPG Source Settings and try again. System.NetWebException: The remote server returned an error: (417) Expectation failed.

Logs attached. I'm sure I'm just being dense.

Since the Windows 7 RC1 is going to be public soon, I would like to discuss about compatibility issues with GBPVR.

When I first installed GBPVR in Win7 beta 6801, it worked like a charm. The only issues I've got are still present with 7077.

First, my setup (we will call it PC#1):
- Windows 7 7077 32 bits
- Hauppage PVR USB2
- Remote

Second, my girlfriend setup (we will call it PC#2):
- Windows 7 7077 32 bits
- Network over Netgear wall plug-in Ethernet adapter (200 mbps).

Third, the problems:
a) When starting TV on PC#1 (not Live TV, direct stream), the TV starts but freezes, then it's going back to the main menu of PVRX2. Then, I restart the TV and it works fine. I don't have this problem when always using Live TV.
b) I have this problem with PC#2. I can prevent it by increasing Live TV buffer time to 8000ms.
c) Changing channels with PC#2 sometime creates the same behavior. Once again, increasing Live TV buffer time to 8000ms seems to prevent it.

Now, the history:
- I had WinVista 32bits installed on PC#1, it was running fine without any issue (except for sound being unsynchronized with picture after some time).
- PC#2 was having Windows XP 32 bits and it had zero problem.
- Then, I installed Win7 on PC#1, the problem a) appeared.
- PC#2 still had zero problem.
- I installed Win7 on PC#2, the problems b) and c) appeared.

What I would like to know now is if the others are having the same problems as me. If so, I would appreciate if the creator of GBPVR would take some time to test that and correct it if possible.

BTW, I tested the Netgear wall plug-in and it is very fast and stable, like a direct Ethernet cable.

I've read quite a lot of threads on here regarding DVB-S2 cards, and it looks like the Nova-S2-HD is a pretty well supported one, so I've gone ahead and ordered one.

Currently I'm running a Nova-T 500 which works great, but I'm looking for info on how I go about setting up the new one? Do I just chuck it in the box, install the drivers and then use config.exe to scan for channels? I've read info about a satellites.ini and bda.ini that it looks like I might have to edit though?

FYI I'm in the UK, interested in recieving UK freesat channels (including the HD ones).

If this has already been answered somewhere, sorry - I've looked around a fair bit. I'd appreciate any feedback anyone can give ready for when it arrives!

Just got stuck installing GB-PVR on a new system, I've tried two different capture cards to no avail. Thanks for your help in advance.

I'm struggeling to get a Hauppauge HVR930C stick working with gbpvr, I'v installed the latest driver (I think, from 17.11-2008) and gbpvr can see the dvb-c part of it. However no channels are found during "map digital channels", but WinTv sees a lot of channels. Now, the tuning data is stored in an access-database by wintv, and I'm pretty sure all the information is there, so I exported the tables that seems to contain the relevant data, see attached.

Can someone please take a look at it and help me figure out how to manually enter the tuning request from what's in these tables?

GB-PVR supports only gigabyte u7000 rh in gigabyte family. I use GB-PVR for listening Net radios but i wanna watch tv also because orig (presto pvr) program is crap(bugs, slow). Can anyone help ?
