Looking for advice from the audio hardware people out there!
I have a sub and 2 front speakers from a Altec Lansing ACS56 system, specs:
-Satellite power: 4 X 8.75 watts
-Subwoffer power: 35 watss
-Total audio power: 70 watts
-Speaker response: 30Hz-20Khz. Crossover Frequency 105Hz
-Interface: 2 analog inputs for 3D positional audio, 1 S/PDIF input for PCM digital audio
I have all 6 speakers from a Creative Labs Inspire p580 system, specs:
-Satellite Power: 6 Watts RMS per channel-Subwoofer Power: 17 Watts RMS
-Frequency Response: 40Hz ~ 20kHz
And now for the questions:
Are the Creative satellites compatible with the Altec sub and output? I would like to use them for the rear left/right speakers. They physically plug in ok and sound comes out but I wonder if they would blow if the volume was maxed out?
Most of my sources (TV, recordings, MP3 music) are stereo so would just come out of the (better) Altec speakers and sub but when I watch a DVD it would mean 5.1 output on a 4.1 system. Would the be much of a difference between a 5.1 system and a 4.1 system when it comes to surround sound on DVD?
I'm not sure if this is the best forum to post these questions on (maybe avforums would be better?) but it's the most friendliest and (for me) trustworthy
I'm trying to setup the TV guide to show Icons only. I've set config.xml <TVGuideChannelHeaderType> to 0 and 3 but I still get Icons and text channel names. How do I hide the text channel names? (I had this working on a previous installation...).
Fresh install won't change DVD drive. Opens the wrong drive door looking for DVD. Can't figure out how to fix this. Any thoughts? In Vista, running as Admin. UAC is off.
I have a problem with no volume control with multichannel sound via spdif to my reciever. Reading previous posts, it seems windows and GB-PVR are out of the loop as far as volume goes. Is there a way to control the volume useing Windows control in this circumstance??
Problems mainly with DVB-T HD freeview TV3 & C4, though DVD playback or any other multichannel recording is affected.
I use AC3 Filter and Monogram as decoders.
Is a small annoyance only, but would be nice to sort.
If a dvb radio graph fails to lock to the tuning info, the gbnetradio mp3 file it uses to buffer obviously sits at 0KB size. Attempting to use the PluginHelper PlayAudioFile() method then hangs (and hangs pvrx2). Using the following...
I'm getting really sick of having to constantly adjust and readjust my volume to comfortable levels. Commericals are too loud, shows are too quiet. Dialog within shows are too quiet, musical/effects sequences are too loud. So while I was being annoyed by this today, I remembered an ad for an old television that promised to maintain a maximum volume and never let a commercial just blare the crap out of you. That was a really long time ago, so I imagined such tech would be easy enough to find today.
I've already googled and found Auto Volume Control, which allows you to plug a source into your line in and it will regulate volume to line out on your audio card--designed more for external sources, though I suppose I could run a line from my speaker port to my line in, and then plug my speakers into my line out. Interesting, but a little bit of a hassle.
Anybody know of anything better? Something that can monitor and adjust my computer's audio output internally?
When I search the guide I'd like to see todays date so I can work out when how far in the future the search results occur, I never have a clue what todays date is.......
I was in over my head, but tried the boot into GBPVR setup anyway and it worked like a charm! Except one thing. The remote no longer works.
I have a Hauppauge 1600. If I kill the shell w/ my keyboard and restart PVRX2.exe the remote works fine. I need a more wife friendly solution. I've searched and only came up w/ this thread. I'm don't know what to do with it though. I don't know what to do with the .bat file once I create it.
When I delete the first recording in the recordings plugin (ready), the screen doesn't get a full update, making the new screen unreadable. I've only tried it on my PCH, I don't know if the PC client uses incremental updates. Like I said, it only happens with the first item in the list.
