  BBC News HD - Embed M3U8 playlist as extras device
Posted by: cbconrad92 - 2022-08-05, 04:30 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (12)

Hello,
In the UK, BBC News HD is no longer a freeview channel and is broadcast via iPlayer only (I am based in the UK and using this for personal use with a full licence fee). I have been able to capture a stream via FFMpeg outside of NextPVR to an MP4 and play back without issue and I am attempting to use the extras-?.xml format to add an additional channel into NextPVR so that I can run the HD version alongside my other channels. Unfortunately, the stream does not start and errors.

This is the format of the extras xml I have generated :

<extras>
    <channel name="BBC News HD">
      <command>C:/Program Files/NextPVR/Other/ffmpeg.exe</command>
      <args>-i "https://vs-hls-push-uk-live.akamaized.net/x=3/i=urn:bbc:pips:service:bbc_news_channel_hd/t=3840/v=pv14/b=5070016/main.m3u8" -vcodec copy -acodec copy -f mpegts</args>
    </channel>
  </extras>

The command line arguments are working outside of the NextPVR interface (with the addition of an output file to the end where I am able to preview the output via VLC and ffplay), it is registering in NextPVR as an extra device with a channel embedded, it doesn't start to stream.

I am using NextPVR v5.27. Apologies I am new to this so if this is an obvious question or in the wrong place, if you could move it I'd be very grateful. As an extra, if anyone would also know how to map the EPG guide listings for BBC News SD to the HD variant (I have this coming in via the DVB-T EPG), that would be fantastic however I am hoping to walk before I run!

Any thoughts gratefully received. Thank you.

  new format for NextTool import?
Posted by: spagio - 2022-08-05, 02:16 AM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (7)

Hi,

I'm trying to use NextTool on Linux to import this recording, and I am getting the "Not Parsed" in the NextTool.txt file with the debug command..

Code:
/home/john/recordings/Best Ever Trivia Show/Best Ever Trivia Show_20220802_10001030.ts Not Parsed

This is the filename that was automatically generated from my recording, even though this is not a supported filename type, but I also see that I can make a forum post to request a format be added.

Is it possible to add this filename type (I think the '10001030' refers to the start and end time in hhmm format)?

  Recordings cut off
Posted by: tvgenie - 2022-08-05, 01:40 AM - Forum: Linux - Replies (9)

Hi all,

First off, thanks for providing this free PVR solution! I am having a few issues that I hope can be resolved on my end. I have tried tvheadend and piping through ffmpeg and any other software I can find to record IPTV events in their entirety. The issue is (I think) that when the stream stutters, the recordings get all messed up. Either they start over, or just plain stop. Today I tried a 4 hr recording and the UI said it was recording the entire way through as scheduled, the the end file only ended up being 6 mins long or so and ~300 mb in size.

Is there anything I can try to resolve this issue so that if the stream stutters, the recording will continue and not stall or get corrupted? Thanks!

Logs attached. Recording of Peacock 1 started at 15:00 and was scheduled to end at 19:00 on 8/4/2022. Only ran for about 6 mins though as I noted above. Running the more recent install (I assume) on a Raspberry Pi 4.

  Auto delete missing recordings not working
Posted by: jimdub - 2022-08-04, 10:04 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (6)

Hello,
I've been trying to find a way to clear my recordings list of files I deleted through Windows Explorer. I verified the config.xml file is set to <AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>true</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings> but it's been over a month and they will not go away. I've tried restarting the recording service, but that doesn't help either. Is there a file I can go to to manually remove the entries from the Ready Recordings view? Not sure what else I can do. Thanks!

  NextPVR server configuration suggestions.
Posted by: mvallevand - 2022-08-04, 12:58 AM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

I am in the process of updating the LibreElec/CoreElec addon that runs the NextPVR server as I needed a GUI to install the dtv-scanning-table and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on any other GUI server options that might be useful to do from the client without going to the web page using the remote.

This is very much like NextPVR v4 works so v4 user input would be helpful too.  Stopping and starting the server is already available.

  NextPVR disable transcoding
Posted by: Emmer - 2022-08-01, 04:18 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (10)

Hi everyone,

i've been using nextpvr for a while now and it's very user friendly, but i've come to notice that it might actually be a little bit too user friendly by withholding some options.
So i'm here to gain some insight, perhaps the option is for good reason.

So in settings there's transcoding settings, which has a tickbox saying Avoid transcoding where possible (for better performance)
Which is nice, but it doesn't seem to be working the way i expected it to.

I'm running on a docker on ubuntu linux with an iptv m3u at the moment to test.
When i start a stream from kodi on another computer it fires up 8 ffmpeg processes (which is the transcoding i assume) (8 core machine) which immediately pegs all cores to 100%
This would indicate that nextpvr (or kodi, haven't ruled that out) deems it "necessary" to transcode.
However if i press stop, and just start the same channel again, it does not fire up the ffmpeg processes.

So in my mind that means it does not need to transcode this particular stream, which it could have tried in the first place.

So i have 1 question that perhaps someone might be able to help me with
is there a way to just outright disable transcoding? because it really isn't necessary

I thank you very much for your time and have a wonderful day

  Version 50207 - Australia DVB-t Caption Text on mute missing?
Posted by: Watrob - 2022-08-01, 01:14 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

I read on a thread back in late Dec 2021 where a fellow member from Australia mentioned that in our DVB-t stream here that we have text which can be turned on for the hearing impaired.

The thread indicated that this was working in previous releases but due to some video changes broke and would be fixed in early 2022.

Now in the latest release I see that the Hearing Impaired stream is now working and can be toggled on or off using the mouse (right click)/keyboard but when using Nextpvr?, but with Kodi I cannot find the setting to turn it on.

The system works well if it can be toggled on when the mute is used., similar to how MCE could do this if it was switched on under settings.

My question is this a Kodi problem or is the Nextpvr plugin missing the setting under Kodi so that this could toggled on and also a setting when used via the Mute button would toggle on the text?

Thanks

  Issues getting Freesat EPG
Posted by: jcvamp - 2022-07-31, 09:07 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (29)

I've just bought a Hauppauge WIN TV Nova-S2 TV USB receiver, and I've been able to find channels via Astra 2E (0282). I also downloaded the ini file from https://en.kingofsat.net/sat-astra2e.php. However, I'm not getting EPG data for all of the channels.

I've tried Auto Mapping using the 'DVB/ATSC' and 'Freesat (UK)' options. I don't know which option is best to use.

Can anyone give any advice on which settings are best?

Thanks.

  Web UI - Color blind
Posted by: Hodge81 - 2022-07-31, 01:58 AM - Forum: Other Clients - No Replies

Hi,

Wanted to let you know that some of us with color blindness (at least red-green) have issues with the dark red text on dark backgrounds in the web GUI.

An example of the issue is the failed recording page.  You have the show and show details, easy to read.  But the text underneath that is in a dark red color.  I cannot read that text without selecting the text first.

See RedICantRerad.png for the red example that I cannot read.  The SelectedText.png shows what I can easily read.

Just thought that you would like to know.

Thanks!

  Channels from db3
Posted by: VCR58 - 2022-07-29, 01:30 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (4)

I would like to attempt to extract the channel info that I have for my QAM tuner from the db3 using DB Browser, and save it to import to another setup of a different OS.

So, what tables in the NextPVR database contain the channel info?

Thanks
