I am having an unusual issue - I am upgrading from a raspberry pi 4 with Raspberry Pi OS to a Mele Quieter 3Q with Windows 11. I have installed the latest version of NextPVR (version 5.2.7.220410). I use two HDHomerun Connect tuners to catch the Over the air signals.

For some reason, on the pi (which uses an earlier version of NextPVR) and the new Mele Quieter 3Q computer, I get to the screen where you specify the xmltv file, but the box where you specify the channel in the xml file that maps to the channel on the hd homerun comes up blank. I am not sure what is going on. I was able to map channels successfully on the Raspberry at one point in time - but maybe that was on a previous version of NextPVR.

I have included my logs, my XML file and a screenshot of the screen with which I am having the issue.  Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I live in an area where there is a local TV station on (RF9) within 5 miles of my location and that station has a low-power translator running about 40 miles away on RF24, using the same station name.  For the past 2+ years all has been working fine, where the NPVR Scan selected the nearby RF9 station and tuned to that station whenever commanded.  But this morning, I was unable to receive the station on RF9 signal or so I thought.  After digging into it, I discovered that NPVR is now selecting the very weak RF24 translator station instead of the strong RF9 station.  Is there a way to instruct NPVR to re-select the nearby strong station instead of the distant, barely detectable station?

I am trying to add the extras ch xml file which I have placed in the data folder, but when I click the rescan for devices, it doesn’t find it

i can see that it errors at the "&output=16" part of the URL. its there anotehr way to add this so that it parses it correctly

I am trying to figure out how to record TV programs to my sdb drive instead of the drive with the OS installed on it.  As you can tell I'm also a linux newby which isn't helping.

I have Zorin 16 Lite installed on my computer.  I added a large drive for recording video to but I can't see it in the NextPVR ---> settings ----> General ----> Recording Directory drop down menu.   My second drive is mounted as /media/pvr/video and I can navigate to the video folder using Thunar file system and save files in the video folder.   In NextPVR I can navigate only as far as /media/pvr.  There are no choices available in the PVR directory.   The pvr directory when viewed in file system has a red X on it and the permissions are set to read & write for the root.   The group is set to root and read only but I am able to add and delete files to the /media/pvr/video folder.   The /media/pvr/video folder has permissions set to read and write for both the owner (pvr) and the group (pvr).

Do I need to change the group to pvr and change the permissions to read & write?  I don't want to do anything that will nuke my install, I don't want to start all over again.

Ok, instead of jumping in feet first I really wish I had done more research, before starting this project I am currently working on. It has been a project in progress for over 2 years at least.

I have ripped all of my DVDs to my PVR and am now attempting to import them all in to NextPVR (correctly). I have named all my files in the format of SXX EXX Name of Episode.m4v. SXX is the season number and EXX is episode number. The directory structure is \DVDs\TV\Full Series, TV\Full Series is substituted by Movies, Documentary etc. depending on the type followed by the movie title, series, name of documentary etc. So, the full path would be \DVDs\TV\Full Series\Name of Series\. I now realize that naming each individual file the way I did was wrong.

That being said, I have written a custom program (in Visual Basic .net if it matters) to create an XML file for each individual season of each series. The files import ok but some of the information is incorrect for SOME of the videos. For example, I imported season 1 of series last night. Of the thirteen episodes in the season all but the last episode had the correct start and end time, on the last episode an hour was added to each, despite each episode having the exact same date and times in the XML file. Importing the second season results in similar results except it is the first 6 files that report the wrong start and end time. The start and end time nodes of the XML file are below. If needed I can post the entire xml file.

I really don’t want to abandon this program for the amount of work and effort I have put into it. Nor do I want to lose the work and effort I have put in the XML files I have created. However, I have looked into using Nexttool written by Martin. However, if I read the help page correctly, because I did not name the files in a manner that nexttool can work with they would need to be renamed. The three media managers that are recommend seem to be hard to work with or no longer supported or has been a while since they have been, etc. For example, when running filebot for the first time it shows a message that it is recommended to watch a video before using for the first time. However, the link it opens in a web browser is a dead link, one of the others seems there is no way to open a file or folder and third seemingly has no download link.

I am searching the web for another media manager. But to be perfectly honest I am leery about using media managers as I used something similar on my audio files (MP3) and now some of them are messed up, files names are not named correctly etc. They were named correctly prior to using audio file media managers.

All this said I’d really appreciate some assistance in figuring out what the issue is with the XMLs that I create or my program if necessary. If not finding the issue with the XML and or program then figuring out what the best way for me to proceed would be, even if that is a combination of any of the above.

I am not trying to reinvent the wheel I know I don’t have to. In part one reason I am doing this is to learn more about programming and about XML files.

For quite some time we've seen sync problem with the desktop client. It's especially troublesome when fast forwarding or jumping ahead and resuming playback.

I re-installed NextPVR 5.2.7.220410 and checked with a recording... the problem still exists.  I have LAV 0.76.1 installed (but I can't remember how to find where they're selected).

I opened Windows Explorer, found the same TS file with a client playback problem and played the file with VLC.... no problem, and I can skip ahead without issue.

I opened the web client (127.0.0.1:8866/recordings.html), found the same recording, and playback is perfect even after skipping ahead.

I opened the UI interface (127.0.0.1:8866/uiclient.html), and there's no audio at all!

I've obviously done something wrong! Is there something I can do to correct the problems?

Windows users who don't use latin language, such as English, encounter this error popup, so the installation fails.
Character ø is the reason to fail the installation.

I download zip file and decompress it with windows' default decompressor.
Decompressing zip file succeeds.

Open Explorer and check the file name.
It displays the file name with unicode correctly.



Setup program might not support these unicode file names on Windows with specific locale.

How does one go about changing the settings of the NLite Client? Settings such as decoder options, etc. You can change them on the regular install that comes with the server, but when using the client you download from the forum, there seems to be no changeable settings?

Also slightly related, there seems to be no audio playback on the web version of the client. It seems to pick up AAC just fine but AC3 it can't seem to handle.

Hi there.

Similar to that of Jellyfin, multiple user accounts for NextPVR with different levels of access control would be a greatly appreciated feature, especially for opening the box up to the internet.

On a local network or on the internet, for those just wanting to access EPG, this would be useful to have functionality that blocks off settings and such (for the sake of security).
