  Freesat setup (newbie to DVB-S)
Posted by: paulisthebest3uk - 2022-07-28, 10:55 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (3)

Hi brand new to the forum hope everyone is well
Ive been searching through the forum but it hasn't been touched upon for a while unless i am looking in the wrong place. I've got my DVB-S usb tv tuner successfully installed in windows, and nextPVR grabs all the channels fine.
I just wondered if there was an easy way of getting the channel numbers such as 101 BBC 1, 102 BBC 2, 103 ITV etc, if there isn't, has anyone actually altered the channel list painstakingly to reflect this? I did give it a brief go but because other channel numbers were also already assigned, i kept getting more than one channel on the same channel number
For example i tried to change BBC 1 to 101 but there was another channel already there so i had two 101 channels

Question Kodi 19.4 not seeing NextPVR v4 Recordings
Posted by: Aussie - 2022-07-27, 11:21 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (3)

All ,

I just upgraded (yesterday) to Kodi v19.4 (Matrix) and NextPVR v5. In general things are working well except Kodi is not showing the (old) NextPVR v4 recorded TV shows in when I select the TV shows/Recorded button. It just shows the ".." I have executed the following:

[*]New recordings done with NextPVR v5 show up in the Recorded folder and in the Kodi TV Shows/Recorded list
[*]Added the folder to the Video library
[*]Selected the video library and it shows the files
[*]I have set the option to scan of the video folder when starting Kodi
[*]I have played the files in Kodi

Can someone offer me a debug direction that I could take to rectify this please?

Haven't used NPVR for months , yet continually wakes computer
Posted by: Choronzon - 2022-07-26, 04:41 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (2)

No signal in home, so no use of NPVR:

No recordings pending
No tuners active

It's not in the list of startup programmes or scheduled tasks. Why does it wake computer? I stop the service after each wakeup, apparently that's not enough.

I'll use NPVR at some future date, so I don't want to uninstall.

  [Kodi] Directory Folders for Recordings
Posted by: Panic - 2022-07-26, 08:29 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (14)

Would it be possible to add a setting to the Kodi client that enables showing the configured directories as top level folders when viewing recordings?

I see that there's a way to filter by directory in NextPVR's UI, but not when viewing recordings from Kodi.

I'm looking to move away from MythTV as a back-end timeshifting/PVR server for kodi and I feel like this would be the only feature I would miss.  NextPVR seems much easier and more reliable in every other way and I'm looking to switch soon! Smile

Why this behavior? Channels renumber and rename
Posted by: markosjal - 2022-07-25, 07:49 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (2)

I have several channel lists , one is a "local" list that I host on a local web server for nextPVR

I have painstakingly deleted, ordered and renamed channels.

Then I add a channel to the local list and re-scan that device (local list)

1) All of my custom names and channel numbers are forgotten after re-scanning.  These settings should be PERMANENT!

2) Deleted channels are re-added to the active channel list when in fact I specifically DELETED them they are not "NEW" channels. (keep in mind some lists we can not control as they may come from a web server somewhere else). Once I set a channel to not show it should NOT SHOW even after rescanning. There needs to be a different method for show/hide that survives a res-scan of device.

I posted this before and as I recall someone spoke of an option somewhere but I tried that option as I recall and it did not fix this particular issue.

There is this and the fact that all channels are (so annoyingly) selected by default when editing channels that tell me this interface is counter-intuitive from the get-go.

It seems not too well thought out and counter-intuitive in many areas.

Now I have to go and re-order (re-number) all of my channels AGAIN on my local list because I added ONE CHANNEL. This is a LOT of unnecessary work because a poorly thought out web interface.

These parameters should be held in a database somewhere and applied to any updated lists. 3rd party providers may update lists frequently

  Question about file formats
Posted by: tesla1886 - 2022-07-25, 06:26 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (3)

(2019-11-26, 09:25 PM)sub Wrote: NextPVR records .ts files, since this is the format that is broadcast, and one of the few formats that allows playback while recording. Other formats such as mp4 / mkv etc are unable to do this.

I found the above quote from Sub in a November 2019 post.

However if aa video is imported, say from a DVD, into NextPVR should it still be in TS format. The video is not being recorded or broadcast so those features / benefits the TS format offers are needed / required for the imported video. The TS file is almost 3 times larger than and MP4 / M4V for example.

If TS doesn't have to be used what is the best one, taking both video quality and file size into account. I am hoping to be able to maintain both chapter and subtitle information from the DVD. I have included an image from the software I am using that includes the formats I have to choose from.

Thank You

New install needed - nextpvr settings export?
Posted by: TheRealRoland - 2022-07-24, 07:58 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (3)

My Pi4 after trying to do an update from buster to bullseye isn't feeling well. So i'm looking to just wipe/reinstall from scratch.

Is it possible to export the nextpvr settings, and then import into the freshly-installed pi4?

Thanks,

Roland

  Remote Control
Posted by: tesla1886 - 2022-07-23, 09:25 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (8)

I am looking for a Remote Control, just the infrared receiver if I can get one with out the remote. I have a Logitech 350 remote that I will use. I have a Flirc I bought of Amazon but when I went to program the remote for it I received a message that it would not work because it does not have an IR receiver.

I have a Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD which came with its own remote an receiver. The receiver quit working a couple of years ago. I have been using a mouse ever since. I would really like to be able to use remote again, even if it is just for pause, rewind, fast forward etc.

However finding just a IR receiver, or at least one that is sure to work isn't as easy as it sounds. For example the Flirc I mentioned above.

Anybody have any recommendations for a USB IR receiver that is known to work with the Logitech 350 remote?

I am also considering this, even though it is apparently only Blutooth. But I'd like to have both.

Thanks.

Tablo Quad tuner is on sale for $130 US https://us-store.tablotv.com/collections...808b2a3e21

For the Quad tuner do you know if the current NextPVR Tablo extra would work?

Thanks
